Miss Judgment
Backlund, Harvest Church.
After waiting for a long time in the small prayer room without receiving a response, Emlyn, dressed in his priestly robes, began to rub the sacred emblem of the Earth Mother in front of him with a look of suspicion on his face.
"Strange, isn't that unusual? Why isn't 'World' reacting?"
He chuckled softly.
"Why should I worry so much? I've already received the payment... I'll save half as savings and use the other half to buy two pretty dresses..."
With that thought in mind, he focused on cleaning the small Prayer Room.
Around the same time, in a Hired Carriage heading to the Cherwood Borough, Hugh was dozing off, his head propped up by one hand against the window.
Two boys, around seven or eight years old, were playing happily outside when they accidentally stepped onto the road, completely unaware of the Hired Carriage approaching from a distance.
The driver was startled and immediately yanked hard on the reins.
"Hissing sound--"
The horse in front of him neighed in pain and reared up.
The carriage came to an abrupt stop with a thud, startling the driver who hurriedly asked, "Madam, two children suddenly ran out from the front... Are you alright?" "I'm fine!" Hugh covered her forehead and sat back down, saying in a muffled voice.
The coachman breathed a sigh of relief and said awkwardly, "Hold on tight, we're about to set off." With that, he cracked his whip, and the carriage started moving again.
Hugh rubbed his slightly swollen forehead, feeling both annoyed and amused, and muttered:
"That wretched Fors, she's always tempting me to eat sweets. Doesn't she know that it makes you fat...? And the Newspaper even said it makes you sleepy..."
"If it weren't for that, I would definitely have realized it..."
She thought to herself with annoyance, then felt at ease shifting the blame to her unsuspecting friend, and prepared to open the window to get some fresh air and clear her head.
Just then, patches of deep red appeared before her eyes.
Hugh saw the grayish-white mist he had dreamed of once again.
Towering stone pillars support a wide Vault, beneath Vault sits a weathered Bronze Long Table surrounded by high-backed chairs.
At the very top, a figure shrouded in Gray Fog sat quietly.
"This... isn't this the evil spirit I dreamt about?" Her heart leaped into her throat, a chill running down her spine, and she instinctively swallowed. After a few deep breaths, Xiu asked anxiously:
Who are you?
"Where is this? What do you want to do?"
That familiar tone reminded Klein of the first time he saw Miss Justice and Mr. Hanged Man.
He chuckled softly.
"Shouldn't you introduce Self before asking others, Miss Xio Derecha? Heh, don't worry, I mean no harm."
"This is your reward for passing the initial test."
"If you'd like, I can take you back right now."
After saying that, he added an answer to Hugh's question:
You can call me...
"Fool."
Fool?! Upon hearing this, Hugh's eyes widened suddenly, recalling the paper he had found in the "History of the Nobility of the Loen Kingdom," the first sentence of which was:
Fool doesn't belong to this era!
Later, at one of Mr. A's Beyonder Gathering, this powerful organizer issued a task to all members:
Seeking those who believe in "Fool"!
Based on the members' discussion, she suspected it was an Evil God!
Hugh's focus was mainly on the title "Fool," and he didn't bother to think about such trivial things as how the other person knew his name.
If someone can't even do this simple thing, they don't deserve to be called Evil God.
Evil God are also God.
He said he meant no harm, which may not be true, but anyway, I'm still alive and well... Hugh calmed down a bit.
A reward? A preliminary test? What's all this about? I don't know anyone's testing me. She thought suspiciously, then suddenly asked:
"Is the task of monitoring Williams Street a test for me?"
As a seasoned Bounty Hunter, Hugh knew exactly when to yield, so even though he suspected the other party was Evil God, he still changed his tone and used polite language. "More or less," Klein said in a casual tone.
"It was also a request from a member of the gathering."
Then, he silently added in his mind:
Actually, the real reason is that your friend, Miss Magician, is too lazy. She either drags her feet to an outrageous degree or makes excuses to refuse to take on the job.
"And the Vampire classmate really likes to outsource tasks..."
A request from a member of the gathering? Hugh's heart stirred, and he looked at the other empty seats.
Her eyes moved almost imperceptibly as she asked:
"Do these seats belong to the other members of the party you organized?"
"That's right," Klein replied with a smile.
Since I've already been targeted by Him, acting more proactively will increase my chances of survival... Thinking this, Hugh turned his gaze back to the head of the table:
"Fool... Sir, may I join?"
Phew... finally on track... all my build-up and guidance weren't wasted... Klein chuckled and nodded: Go to Bing search to see the latest chapter!
"Sure.
"You have passed the initial test and are qualified."
"They want to use the names of the Tarot Card as code names; these cards don't have owners yet, and you can choose any one of them."
As soon as he finished speaking, he materialized Tarot Card on the Bronze Long Table.
Using Tarot Card as code names sounds sophisticated... No, it's not just sophisticated in a way; this unimaginable way of gathering is sophisticated in itself...
While looking at the Tarot Card, Xiu suddenly thought of his friend who had recently become eccentric and decided to choose his code name by drawing cards.
She shuffled and cut the cards rather clumsily, and just as she was about to draw a card, she suddenly heard the "Fool" at the head of the table raise his hand to stop her.
She saw Him snap his fingers, and a Tarot Card slowly left its companions in the deck, flying towards the Instigator at the very top.
Is there anything different about this card, or does it have special meaning? I wonder which card it is... Hugh thought to himself.
Seemingly sensing the new member's confusion, Klein smiled and flipped the card over.
"The Lovers card! It belongs to one of my ' Blessed '," he explained casually, then made another inviting gesture, "You can continue."
The thought flashed through his mind, "There really are Blessed in Him in the Real World..." Hugh closed his eyes and drew a card from the deck.
Smack
She turned it over on the Bronze Long Table, opened her eyes, and saw on the card Angel holding a trumpet and a deceased person waiting for redemption.
This is a "Judgment" card!
Klein nodded almost imperceptibly and pointed to the fourth high-backed chair on the left:
This is your seat.
After saying that, he chuckled softly:
"Good afternoon, Miss Judgment."
