Toxtricity's distorted sound waves were completely swallowed by the sand. Piers went pale.

Rumble! The earth shook! Toxtricity collapsed right where he stood.
"The match is over..." Marnie announced with a frown, clutching the railing.
"I lost..." Piers lowered his head dejectedly. Was this the gap between their talents?
Perhaps he really wasn't suited to being a Gym Leader.
Looking at his sister's calm eyes, Piers suddenly made up his mind.
I'll hang on for another two years, then step aside once Marnie has grown. Only Marnie can shoulder Spikemuth's future.
