Darkrai had been laughing happily lately, because it had discovered that the foolish humans had made a very frightening movie themselves, which had led to many of them having nightmares to varying degrees after watching it. This left Darkrai thoroughly satisfied. It had been a long time since it had encountered so many high-quality, delicious nightmares, and Cresselia had no time to bother with it, which made things even better.
But while flying over the Indigo League, Darkrai spotted an exceptionally high-quality mass of nightmare energy. It gave off an extraordinarily enticing aroma, and with how concentrated it was, Darkrai felt that, to use coffee as an analogy, this mass of nightmare energy was like a cup of espresso. It was small, but its flavor was simply too tempting.
Unable to resist the temptation, Darkrai swooped down. Then he saw a familiar food truck and a familiar person. The young human was asleep on his side, but his expression was extremely conflicted.
When it saw that it was this human, much of Darkrai's irresistible craving faded. It remembered this human, this foolish human. Who knew what had happened during his last dream, but Darkrai had actually gotten trapped in his nightmare and been coached through exams and studying by some pervert, which had caused Darkrai immense suffering.
Fortunately, Cresselia had later gotten trapped in this man's dream too, which had improved Darkrai's mood considerably. After all, one person having bad luck and two people having bad luck were two different things.
Darkrai wanted to leave, but for some reason, seeing this nightmare and smelling that intoxicating aroma, it still could not resist. It tentatively reached out a hand, thinking it would pluck off a little of the nightmare's aura so that it could sample its flavor.
Human dreams had flavors.
