| Mobile Kitchen Experimental Model | 37 | Expands from a pocket-sized model into an RV-sized kitchen. The Make plausible button replaces its unexplained appearance with an officially delivered Silph Co. prize truck. |
| Expanded lounge and living quarters | 116 117 | Leaving Viridian City earns Heath his first Food Truck Upgrade Ticket. Zorua accidentally selects the rest-area upgrade, adding quantum-folded living space with a bedroom and bathroom. |
| Deployable dining area | 336 | An upgrade blueprint and the Reasonable button bring Nami to install a Meowth-shaped Lucky Cat control. Two pats deploy a roofed dining area of just over sixty square meters beside the kitchen; the interior initially lacks finishing. |
| Renovated mobile restaurant | 337 338 348 | Nami offers the Pokémon Restaurant renovation free if Heath agrees to attend a technology expo. The completed restaurant has a warm interior and compressed dining space accessed through a discreet side door. |
| Upgraded kitchen | 624 634 | Heath chooses the kitchen over another dining-area upgrade. Nami oversees the work in Eterna City, and the kitchen equipment is subsequently updated, including a pot with independently hot and cold sections. |
| Main-body upgrade | 744 754 776 | A special Vermilion City achievement awards a ticket restricted to the truck's main body. Nami schedules a full day of work; later descriptions establish underwater driving and adaptation to any terrain or environment. |
Background / History
Heath receives the truck after operating a pushcart in Viridian City. Its original form resembles a miniature model car, but it expands after he describes it as his food truck. Inside, he finds a comprehensive kitchen, a large refrigerator, and a freezer, though initially no bed or bathroom. Concerned about explaining its sudden appearance, he presses Make plausible. The truck vanishes, and Silph Co. calls to announce that he has won its experimental food truck. An identical vehicle arrives before dinner, without the button, and a Viridian City reporter interviews him about the prize 15 37.
The truck makes Heath's traveling business practical. He discovers its self-driving system while preparing to buy supplies during the Viridian Chemical Plant emergency. After leaving Viridian City, he gains living quarters and considers selling food to Trainers near Victory Road. At the Indigo League, he secures a permitted vending location near a busy commercial district and initially places tables and chairs outside 40 116 117 124 140.
Silph Co. later exhibits the expanded restaurant at a Technology Expo. Nami explains its folded-space technology while also helping serve customers. The combination of an unusual exhibit and Heath's cooking draws heavy business; eventually, many visitors come specifically for the food rather than the technology 375 384.
Its reputation spreads through university students, food magazines, forums, and loyal customers. A Silph researcher publicly describes it as a one-of-a-kind vehicle whose construction cost is prohibitively high, with data collection intended to support a cheaper Folded Space Series. Heath's fame also inspires other chefs to travel in food trucks, although their vehicles do not match his truck's spatial technology 766 901 947 1047 1117.
Appearance & Layout
- Exterior: Initially expands to roughly the size of an RV. Later spatial expansion leaves its exterior largely unchanged apart from a concealed side entrance 37 338.
- Signage: Displays the name Heath's Little Kitchen 766.
- Restaurant interior: Features warm, home-like decoration, wooden tables and chairs, and mushroom-shaped seating 348 406.
- Kitchen placement: Located at the rear, with a semi-open design and a surrounding counter where customers can sit and watch Heath cook 831 963.
| Area | Features |
|---|---|
| Cab | Electronic control screen, route map, destination settings, Autopilot, and driving assistance 40 117 130 |
| Kitchen | Extensive cooking equipment, including a duck-roasting oven; later equipment is replaced through an upgrade 37 634 |
| Dining area | Spatially compressed restaurant interior; large enough to accommodate a rotating hot-pot table after rearranging existing seating 338 569 |
| Lounge and living quarters | Living room, bedroom, bathroom, windows, and space for exercise equipment 117 |
| Balcony | Used by Heath to air-dry Mimikyu's repaired cloth disguise 364 |
| Storage room | Allows bulk ingredient storage without the usual concern over keeping stock too long. Deliveries must be unloaded into the dining area before Heath and his Pokémon move them inside 1124 |
Abilities & Skills
Autonomous Driving
The truck can navigate to selected destinations while Heath prepares food or rests 40 117 859.
- Collision avoidance: Swerves away from a vehicle driven by Blissey 50.
- Emergency braking: Stops when a Diglett emerges directly ahead, though the abrupt halt can throw passengers and food off balance 293.
- Driving assistance: Supports high-speed handling and drifting; Heath also notes the engine's performance and the tires' grip 130.
- Map requirement: Autopilot is unavailable when the local map has not yet loaded, forcing Heath to drive manually on arrival in Eterna City 562.
- Traffic limitations: Slows considerably around pedestrians and crowded streets 765 1024.
- Underside collisions: Cannot prevent a Diglett from emerging directly beneath the chassis 861.
Independent Engine & Utilities
According to its manual, the truck uses Silph Co.'s quantum fluctuation dual-flow triple-gamma engine, which provides internal energy circulation and unlimited operation 119.
- Requires neither refueling nor battery replacement 119.
- Supplies cooking electricity and natural gas without Heath replenishing them 246.
- Has independent power and a reliable water supply, allowing food service during disruptions that would close ordinary restaurants 1091.
- Purifies its exhaust before release; the discharged air remains warm 758.
Folded-Space Expansion
Quantum Space-Folding Technology creates rooms substantially larger than the truck's exterior suggests 117 338.
- Expands the rest area into living quarters and supports an enclosed restaurant without occupying additional street space 117 338.
- Upgrades are selected through tickets or blueprints and made plausible through Silph Co.'s involvement 116 117 336.
- The blueprint also lists further dining-area, kitchen, Snow Storage Area, lounge, and garden upgrades; their availability does not itself establish that they have been installed 336.
Environmental Protection
After its main-body upgrade, the truck is described as capable of adapting to any terrain and environment, including volcanic conditions 776 961.
- Climate control: Regulates temperature and humidity for comfort and ingredient storage 42 117.
- Air purification: Blocks outside odors and harmful gases while preventing indoor and outdoor smells from mixing. Heath often leaves it inactive so cooking aromas can attract customers 809.
- Deep-sea protection: Withstands deep-ocean pressure and recycles oxygen for its occupants 1027.
- Underwater limitation: Can drive underwater, but cannot propel itself through open water. After sinking, it must reach the seabed before it can drive away 754 1027.
Silent Mode
The truck detects rest hours and offers a quieter travel setting 246.
- Moves without audible engine noise or perceptible motion from inside 246.
- Travels somewhat more slowly while the mode is active 246.
Access Protection
The kitchen has a protective barrier that admits only those Heath permits, with Legendary Pokémon explicitly identified as an exception 1096.
- Blocks pests such as cockroaches and mosquitoes 1096.
- Does not make the entire restaurant inaccessible: Mew and Rayquaza enter freely, and a criminal group's Gengar slips inside to open the outer door 371 1074.
Special Travel Compatibility
The truck can accompany Heath through supernatural travel methods, though these are not established as ordinary driving functions 562 705 983.
- Anywhere Door: Carries the truck and its occupants between regions, including Lavender Town to Eterna City and Petalburg City to Cinnabar Island 562 983.
- Teleportation controls: Heath sets a destination near Petalburg City through the truck's control system and activates the transfer with a button. He tells Cynthia that it is an exclusive experimental Silph function 924.
- Distortion World Pass: Allows Heath to bring the truck and his Pokémon into the Distortion World. Returning restores them to the original entry point rather than their position within that world 705.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Large refrigerator and freezer — Included in the original kitchen 37.
- Dialga's Pressure Cooker — Used for suitable preparations, such as simmering pork intestines before finishing them in another pot; it does not speed up dishes that do not require pressure cooking 551 557.
- Rotating Dining Table and induction cookers — Installed for rotating hot-pot service in Eterna City, then removed before the Vermilion City leg of Heath's travels 569 650.
- Hot-and-cold pot — Upgraded cookware with one section capable of maintaining extremely low temperatures and another that can be heated independently 634.
- Menu blackboard and open sign — Used to display specials and indicate business hours 415 422.
- Hygiene rating noticeboard — Displays excellent-rating stickers awarded during inspections 530.
Relationships
- Heath — Owner, principal chef, and resident. Ownership belongs to him outright; even Silph Co. has no right to reclaim the truck 354 926.
- Nami — Silph Co.'s research chief and recurring upgrade coordinator. Oversees renovations, explains the technology at exhibitions, and occasionally helps serve food 336 375 624 744.
- Farfetch'd — Assistant chef who trains to run the restaurant independently. Handles a day of rotating hot-pot service while Heath is away 587 616 617.
- Zoroark — Server and payment collector, also working under Miss Betty's appearance. Helps keep the restaurant running during Heath's absence 587 617 874.
- Charizard — Handles barbecue and helps move supplies aboard 616 888.
- Snorlax — Helps freeze ingredients, prepare shaved ice, and carry bulk stock 888 1124.
- Ralts / Shiny Kirlia — Helps with payments and accounting as Ralts; later becomes a fast-serving Shiny Kirlia whose arrival attracts interest among regular customers 587 888 901 1047.
- Giovanni — Orders Team Rocket members not to trouble the food truck because of his friendship with Heath 990.
Business Operations
- Service formats: Offers dine-in meals and takeaway, including serving motorists during a highway traffic jam 422.
- Travel model: Moves between cities and regions rather than maintaining one permanent location. This makes hiring conventional staff difficult because employees would also need accommodation and meals 883.
- Permits and parking: Heath applies for local vending permission and observes parking restrictions; even a pier stop can require moving the truck to avoid a fine 140 403 861.
- Payment policy: Customers generally pay before eating to prevent dine-and-dash incidents, with exceptions for trusted regulars and Legendary Pokémon 854.
- Food safety: By the recorded inspection in Chapter 530, the truck has never received a rating below excellent. The Food Safety Bureau later recognizes it as an exceptionally clean establishment 530 1065.
- Delivery: Offered in response to customer requests, but Heath does not intend to turn the traveling restaurant into a delivery-focused business 708.
- Culinary reputation: Critics report that ostensibly identical dishes are individually adjusted to customers' tastes. This reputation belongs to Heath's cooking rather than a stated function of the vehicle 953 1047.
Notable Incidents
- Attempted seizure: A-Yu enters with a knife and gasoline, claims the truck as his own, and orders Heath out 415.
- Abandoned Nidoran♀: A Trainer leaves Nidoran♀ waiting beneath the dining tables. After more than two hours without their return, Heath contacts Officer Jenny 447.
- Cynthia's announcement: Cynthia publicly identifies Heath as her boyfriend inside the restaurant, stunning the customers 770.
- Expo odor emergency: Heath activates air purification after a failed technology demonstration releases a severe stench. The expo closes early, and he returns to his usual vending spot 809.
- Alolan Diglett collision: A Diglett strikes the chassis from below. The truck needs no repairs, but the delay pushes Heath's arrival in Cerulean City to 1:30 a.m. 861.
- Ocean descent: An enormous wave capsizes Captain Ai's boat while the intact truck sinks with Heath, May, Zoroark, and the captain aboard. A gigantic Pokémon subsequently looks through the lounge window 1027.
- Typhoon shelter: Heath parks on a shelter's third floor as Super Typhoon Sarin approaches Fuchsia City. Its stored food and independent utilities allow him to continue offering meals there 1091 1093.
