Heath sat down in his chair. He had already finished the Goubuli Steamed Bun made from snow. He had to admit, there was some reason Goubuli Steamed Buns had supposedly earned praise from the most powerful woman of the Great Qing in the China of his previous life. The bun contained a rich variety of ingredients, including bamboo shoots and shiitake mushrooms. Heath had even tasted a hint of seafood. It had delicacies from both land and sea, yet pork remained the star.
That was strange. In theory, mixing so many flavors should have caused some clashes and overwhelmed the pork's own flavor, but the pork here tasted fantastic. Even after eating it, Heath felt he had not had enough. Yet he really did not feel as though he had eaten anything afterward. What a powerful tool for losing weight.
Although the Goubuli Steamed Bun had many ingredients, those ingredients were not difficult for a chef to work out. What was difficult to reverse-engineer was the broth inside. Heath had no idea how Gouzi had originally made it. Tasted on its own, the broth was a little bitter at first, then sweet, but he could not detect that when eating the bun itself. He could only tell that it made the bun taste even better.
Many recipes were like that. Even when you could clearly see certain special seasonings or ingredients, you could not actually distinguish their flavors when you ate the dish. That was the supporting role ingredients and seasonings played during cooking. Without them, the flavor would drop an entire level. That was also why secret recipes were so important.
Heath felt a little disappointed. If only he had that God's Tongue or whatever it was from Food Wars! Then he could work out the entire cooking method
