Although Mew had grown very close to Heath, Mew still wasn't quite used to appearing in front of other people. Besides, Mew wasn't his Pokémon, after all, so Heath said nothing more and let Mew decide. If Mew didn't intend to come out, Heath wouldn't forcibly drag Mew out. He had tried making money with Mew before, since he hadn't had much money back then, but now he didn't need to do that so much. His savings were growing larger and larger, after all. If he hadn't bought the Herba Mystica from Paldea, Heath felt he probably could have been living a financially independent life already.
"Everything in this world takes money," Cynthia sighed after finishing her meal. Heath gave her a puzzled look. What had gotten into Cynthia to make her suddenly say something like that? Honestly, Heath thought other people might be short of money, but Cynthia certainly wouldn't be. Her position spoke for itself: she was the Sinnoh Region's League Champion. How could she possibly be short of money? The League paid its Champions very well, and if Cynthia wanted, she could even take on commercials. Filming those would earn her money by the handful.
Heath remembered that one region's Champion was a film and television star, developing both careers at once.
"What's wrong?" Heath asked Cynthia in confusion. He knew it was practically impossible that something had happened to her that required money, so there was only one possibility: Cynthia had suddenly seen something that prompted that remark. Heath just wasn't sure exactly what it was.
"It's this news story." Cynthia handed her phone to Heath. Without thinking much of it, he took it and had a look. It was a local news story, roughly about a young woman publicly appealing for help on the street.
