Heath sat in a chair in the food truck, propping up his chin as he gazed out the window into the night. Vermilion City was already very quiet, with hardly anyone on the streets. Although the New Year had not arrived yet, the festive atmosphere was already there. Heath could still see fireworks rising and blooming in the night sky, and he could not help smiling at the sight. Big cities, big cities-the bigger the city, the fewer people there tended to be around New Year. Even the usually bustling Commercial Street might be practically deserted during the holiday, because everyone had to go home to celebrate, too.

At times like this, the towns and smaller cities tended to be livelier instead. Viridian City was just like that, full of life. According to its traditions, young people, especially those who had started working, needed to start giving New Year red envelopes
