Leng Xiyue was assigned to the best class in the second year. Its students ranged from level ten to nineteen, all outstanding among their peers.
It was not time for class yet, so the middle-aged man brought Leng Xiyue to the entrance of the teaching building, pointed her in the right direction, and left.
Leng Xiyue did not mind. She found her own way there, but the moment she pushed open the classroom door, most of the students turned to look at her, leaving her a little bewildered.
Most of the boys and girls in this class were ten years old, and even the younger ones were eight or nine. There was not a single six-year-old like her.
Xiao Bai followed beside her, scanned the boys and girls present, and immediately brightened. "Well, well, what a coincidence! Look at those two. Aren't they your big sister Nana and big brother Xie Yue?"
Leng Xiyue looked, and sure enough, there they were. Presumably, the two had finished that trial and come to study at Spirit Hall Academy.
At that moment, both were absorbed in the books in their hands, as though they had obtained some precious treasure. They had not noticed Leng Xiyue's arrival at all.
Leng Xiyue was about to go over and greet them when a boy with a hostile expression blocked her path.
"Little girl, you've got the wrong room. This is a second-year elite class, not somewhere you belong."
"Uh, no, I haven't?" Leng Xiyue took out her student ID and pointed to the class number on it. "Look, isn't this Second-Year Elite Class Three?"
"Haha, did you hear that? This little girl says she's in our class."
Unexpectedly, the boy seemed to find this hilarious. He gave a mocking laugh, and a dozen or so boys who appeared to be his cronies laughed along.
Leng Xiyue scanned the other students' reactions. Some looked indignant, some turned a blind eye, and some sighed, but even more simply looked on as though watching a show. She immediately understood. This had to be the class bully.
She had not only seen people like this before, but had experienced it firsthand as a victim. Though he was a different person, and this was not even the same world, that ugly face was all too familiar-nothing more than bullying an easygoing newcomer to establish his position, then continuing to bully them from then on.
People like this either had formidable strength or powerful family backing. In a place like Spirit Hall Academy, he probably had both.
But things were different now. Leng Xiyue definitely had the strongest backing. Bibi Dong had even told her she could stir up whatever trouble she wanted, so what was there to fear? She just had to go for it!
After obtaining her Soul Ring, Leng Xiyue's control over psionic energy had improved further. Judging by the presence Xie Yue had unleashed during his earlier battle, her current strength was actually not far behind his. Even if she could not win, she would only lose narrowly at worst. There was no shame in that.
Having made up her mind, she put on a meek, timid act and said, "What are you planning to do? If you won't let me in, I'll get a teacher."
At the mention of getting a teacher, the boy laughed even harder. "Did you hear that? She's going to get a teacher! Haha, I'm dying!"
Then his expression abruptly changed, and he reached out to snatch the student ID from Leng Xiyue's hand.
Seeing this, Xiao Bai, who loved nothing more than stirring up trouble, immediately shouted from beside her, "You're going to take that? Hit him!"
"As if I need you to tell me!" Leng Xiyue retorted. Without holding back in the slightest, she unleashed a surge of psionic energy, grabbed the boy's arm, and hurled him away with an over-the-shoulder throw!
The boy had never imagined that the delicate, frail-looking Leng Xiyue would dare resist, much less that she possessed such strength. Caught completely off guard, he was thrown straight into the corridor wall, letting out a series of screams. Even the wall looked as though it might crack.
After recovering a little, the boy flew into a rage and shouted at the others in the classroom, "What are you waiting for? Get her!"
Leng Xiyue had not expected her strength to let her fling him away so effortlessly either. For a moment, she felt she had not had enough. Turning her gaze toward his cronies, her eyes filled with anticipation.
If that last exchange did not count as a true measure of her strength because her opponent had been careless, then now was the time to test it properly!
Seeing their leader beaten, the dozen or so boys immediately grew agitated and surrounded Leng Xiyue. But suddenly, someone launched a surprise attack from behind them, kicking two boys flying.
The attackers were none other than Xie Yue and Hu Liena. How could they stand by and watch their little benefactor be mistreated like this?
"Xie Yue, what are you doing? You want to go against us?" Seeing Xie Yue and Hu Liena join the fight, the gang's second-in-command looked uncertain.
If there were anyone in this class they did not dare bully, these two newcomers were definitely among them. Their backgrounds alone were enough to make the gang tremble-these wandering orphans had fought their way out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood, then been adopted directly by elders because of their terrifying talent. They were absolutely among the last people anyone should provoke!
Xie Yue did not even spare him a glance. He merely considered how to strike so he could end the fight quickly. "Cut the crap. Just come at me!"
Those few words ground their pride straight into the dirt. How could hot-blooded youths swallow that? They immediately flew into a fury. "Fine! Get them!"
After the surprise attack took out two boys, fourteen remained in the gang. The difference in numbers was enormous, but activating Martial Souls to fight anywhere on campus outside the Arena was strictly forbidden. That made Martial Souls and Soul Skills utterly useless here. Only the physical strength granted by one's soul power level and combat skills mattered.
Everyone present was outstanding among their peers and ranked among the best in the entire year. In the end, however, they were only flowers raised in a greenhouse, far inferior to hardened fighters like Xie Yue and Hu Liena.
The same held true for Leng Xiyue. When someone punched at her, she met it with a punch of her own. Her body, reinforced by psionic energy, felt no pain at all, while her opponent screamed. She then seized the opening and mercilessly hurled him away.
Their attacks could not penetrate her defenses, while one strike from her left them badly hurt. After dealing with two boys, Leng Xiyue gained a clear understanding of her strength. If everyone activated their Martial Souls, she truly had no confidence she could win. But since Martial Souls and Soul Skills were off-limits, she was a god of war among those at her level!
And so, the three of them surrounded the dozen or so remaining boys.
Before long, all seventeen boys had been thrown into the corridor and lined up along the foot of the wall, sprawled helplessly on the floor. Their screams rang out without end. Anyone who did not know better might have thought someone had bullied them.
"Big brother Xie Yue, big sister Nana, are you all right?" Compared with Leng Xiyue, who was practically unscathed, Xie Yue looked rather battered, with bruises and swelling all over him. Hu Liena, on the other hand, was fine.
"I'm fine. Just a few little injuries. I got used to them ages ago," Xie Yue said casually. Injuries like these truly were nothing to him.
As he spoke, Xie Yue suddenly smiled. "I was just telling my sister that you'd definitely come sometime in the next few days. I never expected you to start fighting this bunch the moment you arrived."
