Background / History

Bibi Dong’s daughter, Qian Renxue, was born after Qian Xunji sexually assaulted her. Although Qian Xunji had long since died, Bibi Dong remained unable to separate her love for her daughter from the hatred associated with her conception. By their farewell meeting, she had spent ten years trying unsuccessfully to resolve that conflict 37.

According to Javier, Bibi Dong’s own disadvantaged background made her especially sympathetic toward children who had suffered hardship. This informs his reassurance to the apparently orphaned Leng Xiyue before their first meeting 19.

Appearance

Bibi Dong has an elegant figure, long pale-purple hair, and striking beauty. Her first appearance presents her in informal clothing rather than the ceremonial dress of her office 19.

  • Private attire: A simple white robe resembling nightwear, worn while reclining in the garden and reviewing documents 19.
  • Formal attire: Ceremonial robes, accompanied by a scepter during official audiences 24 37.
  • Demeanor: Relaxed and occasionally yawning in private, but capable of projecting intimidating authority without changing her dress or raising her voice 19 20.

Personality

Bibi Dong is affectionate toward Leng Xiyue without wanting her to become dependent on her position. She welcomes the girl’s description of a master as both teacher and parent, but later requires her to earn her own standing at Spirit Hall Academy. She also appreciates Leng Xiyue’s desire to support herself financially rather than continually request money through her disciple status 20 24 31.

Her protectiveness can become controlling. She conceals the massacre of Leng Xiyue’s family to avoid harming the child’s emotional development, and strictly limits spirit-herb consumption out of concern for physical damage and dependence. When Leng Xiyue secretly purchases and consumes additional herbs, Bibi Dong withholds her allowance for two weeks 21 30.

She increasingly respects her disciple’s independence: supervision largely ends after the first few months, and she declines to investigate when Leng Xiyue appears to be withholding a concern. In contrast, encounters with Qian Renxue can overwhelm her composure, exposing grief and affection beneath her outward rejection 32 37.

Abilities & Skills

Cultivation and Spiritual Pressure

Bibi Dong possesses formidable cultivation, though the supplied events do not establish her exact level or document a breakthrough 20 37 42.

  • Her presence places invisible pressure on those around her even during ordinary conversation 20.
  • During her emotional breakdown, thick black energy pours from her body and her pressure spreads through the Papal Hall. Gui Mei and Yue Guan contain it around the building 37.
  • Leng Xiyue judges Kaldalis’s aura to be weaker than Bibi Dong’s, despite his being stronger than the other Titled Douluos she has encountered 42.
  • She can move objects remotely, drawing a stack of documents into her hand with a thought 21.

Rakshasa God’s Inheritance

Bibi Dong has the Rakshasa God’s inheritance and acknowledges that, without it, she would be no match for Qian Daoliu 20.

  • Leng Xiyue suspects that succession trials could eventually force destructive actions, but does not establish whether those trials are still ahead of Bibi Dong or already underway 32.
  • The feared requirements involving war or mass deaths remain Leng Xiyue’s speculation, not confirmed trial objectives 32.

Martial Soul Knowledge and Teaching

Bibi Dong identifies Leng Xiyue’s armor and psionic sword as a super martial soul and personally explains the continent’s ten-rank classification 20.

  • Distinguishes ordinary, high-grade, top-grade, and super martial souls 20.
  • Explains that rank ten is reserved for potential advancement; no existing martial soul is currently classified at that rank 20.
  • Offers personal cultivation guidance and access to the Papal Hall library 21.
  • Recognizes Leng Xiyue’s potential to surpass her own achievements and eventually stand alongside Qian Daoliu 20.

Leadership and Administration

As Pope, Bibi Dong reviews reports from the Martial Soul General Hall and commands bishops, elders, and research personnel 19 32 37.

  • Can provide institutional backing, professional staff, and a commercial site for a new trade guild 31.
  • Delegates technical assessment rather than pretending to understand unfamiliar engineering 32.
  • Receives growing public admiration during Leng Xiyue’s first two years in Spirit City 32.
  • Coordinates the final audience meeting for Spirit Hall’s Heaven Dou infiltration operation 37.

Equipment / Items

  • Scepter — Carried with her formal robes during audiences; she throws it aside during her breakdown and retrieves it before resuming official business 24 37.
  • Spirit Hall waist token issued to Leng Xiyue — Grants authority equivalent to a Soul Emperor’s rank. It is not the special token of a Saintess, since Leng Xiyue has not attained that position 47.

Relationships

  • Leng Xiyue — Personal disciple and intended successor. Bibi Dong’s treatment becomes openly maternal, while Leng Xiyue resolves to protect her from a possible disastrous future 20 21 32.
  • Qian Renxue — Daughter. Qian Renxue interprets her mother’s rejection as dissatisfaction with her ability and repeatedly tries to prove herself, unaware of its true cause 34 37.
  • Javier — Trusted subordinate who manages appointments, accommodations, and academy arrangements. Javier can remind her about decorum, but cannot overturn her orders 20 21 24 32.
  • Yue Guan — Elder and close attendant who tests Leng Xiyue’s firearm, protects her from families seeking to claim her, and conveys Bibi Dong’s instructions 30 31 32 37.
  • Gui Mei — Trusted subordinate who helps contain her uncontrolled pressure and summon personnel for the Heaven Dou operation 37.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Figure associated with her past. Leng Xiyue attributes his library access and elder status to Bibi Dong’s influence, but abandons an opportunity to ask Bibi Dong about her current feelings toward him 23 32.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Accepting and Raising Leng Xiyue

Javier brings Leng Xiyue to the Papal Hall after Wang Yan discovers her talent. Bibi Dong dismisses the attendants to examine the girl privately, recognizes her apparent innate full soul power and super martial soul, and accepts her as a disciple 19 20.

Leng Xiyue’s heirloom dagger leads Bibi Dong to connect her with Governor Leng Mingxuan’s murdered household and its two missing daughters. Rather than reveal the report, she plans to have Javier fabricate a plausible account until the girl is older 21.

She provides temporary accommodation in a lavish three-story side hall before sending Leng Xiyue to Spirit Hall Academy. The arrangement combines material support with independence 21 24:

  • Leng Xiyue’s disciple status is not to secure special standing at the academy 24.
  • Her weekly allowance is three thousand Gold Soul Coins, with cultivation resources delivered separately 24.
  • Bibi Dong promises to settle trouble involving powerful families, allowing her disciple to defend herself without fearing their influence 24.

Supporting New Soul-Tool Technology

Two years later, Leng Xiyue brings Bibi Dong a firearm and requests backing for a trade guild. Yue Guan’s test establishes that it can pierce a Soul Elder’s protective aura and harm some lower-level Soul Ancestors 30 31.

Bibi Dong initially opposes selling advanced weapons to imperial customers. She approves after Leng Xiyue explains that superior models will remain with Spirit Hall and that ammunition techniques and political protection can preserve their commercial advantage. She supplies a professional team and selects a busy Outer City site near the Great Soul Arena 31.

When Leng Xiyue subsequently presents a tank blueprint, Bibi Dong orders Yue Guan to obtain a written feasibility assessment from Li Yuyuan. Despite her support for technological development, she shows little personal interest in Leng Xiyue’s proposed continental unification 32.

Qian Renxue’s Farewell and the Heaven Dou Operation

Bibi Dong agrees to receive Qian Renxue only in the main hall normally used for foreign guests. She refuses the address “Mother” and dismisses her daughter’s announcement that she will impersonate Xue Qinghe and may be absent for five or ten years 37.

As Qian Renxue leaves, Bibi Dong loses control and throws a Glazed Glass Cup at her. Qian Renxue accepts the injury without defending herself and senses affection within her mother’s conflicting emotions. Afterward, Bibi Dong smashes the surrounding treasures and collapses in tears 37.

Once composed, she summons the bishops and principal elders involved in the Heaven Dou infiltration operation, while insisting that the meeting has nothing to do with Qian Renxue’s plan 37.

Approving Leng Xiyue’s Travels

Three years later, Bibi Dong permits Leng Xiyue to travel for experience, requiring only regular messages. Leng Xiyue then departs toward the Far North after the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament 38.
