Despite his enormous cultivation reserve, he knew he would struggle against combat-oriented soul beasts with superior bloodlines. He therefore avoided rapid advancement after reaching nine hundred thousand years. His dramatic refusal is explicitly described as an attempt to secure additional benefits 40.

He is neither vicious nor unreasonable. He comforts frightened trafficking survivors and offers compensation after accidentally breaking a crystal doll. Although Ning Rongrong’s demand that he kneel enrages him, he nearly complies rather than create trouble for Leng Xiyue 40 45 49.
