Background / History

Origins and the stolen Supreme Bone

Shi Yi is born with Double Pupils, while his younger cousin Shi Hao is born with a Supreme Bone. Chen Yao later explains that both traits originate from Supreme Arts inscribed into the bloodlines of the Stone King and the other Seven Kings of the Border Wasteland 22 35 42.

While Shi Hao’s parents are away, Shi Yi’s branch removes the one-year-old child’s Supreme Bone and drains his Supreme Blood for transplantation into Shi Yi. Shi Hao’s depleted origin leaves him near death and initially unable to withstand the bone’s return. The theft divides the Martial King Manor, whose elders nevertheless continue supporting Shi Yi 22 35.

Shi Yi spends his early years secluded within the manor, cultivating chiefly in the Void God Realm. His numerous records make him the standard against which Aman measures her seemingly impossible pursuit of revenge 7 12.

First conflict with Wu Gensheng

After encountering Lord Bird and Lord Crystal Wall, Shi Yi cannot discern their true nature and senses danger whenever he considers attacking them. He subsequently assumes that Wu Gensheng—Chen Yao’s alias—is competing for a hidden opportunity connected to them and attacks to prevent the supposed secret from spreading 9 10.

Chen Yao cracks his Divine Armor through spatial-temporal manipulation and secretly damages his eyesight with Water Viscera Thunder carrying the Three Corpses God. Shi Yi deduces how the enemy’s formation enables repeated suppression and destroys it, but must retreat to remove the hidden power. Once recovered, he resolves to kill Wu Gensheng 10 11.

Exposure and political retreat

During their next encounter, Shi Yi recognizes Shi Hao’s life aura through his Double Pupils. Aman drives him into Chen Yao’s dark clouds, where another ambush defeats him. Chen Yao then induces rejection between his body and the transplanted Supreme Bone, publicly exposing the theft 21 22.

Shi Yi suppresses the backlash and improves the bone’s compatibility. When news links Shi Hao to the Stone Kingdom Ancestral Land, he changes his public position: he acknowledges Shi Hao, offers to return the bone, and presents the original crime as something imposed by his elders 23 24.

He leaves for the Heaven Mending Pavilion and enters the Ancient Sacred Academy. His departure does not convince the Stone Emperor of his sincerity; the emperor views his pursuit of the Heaven-Mending Art and growing proximity to Demon Spirit Lake with suspicion 25 26 35.

Final challenges and death

After rebuilding his cultivation in the academy, Shi Yi challenges Chen Yao to a decisive duel and promises to return the Supreme Bone regardless of the outcome. Chen Yao wins their two-exchange contest: he injures Shi Yi in a clash of physical strength, then contains his World-Opening Divine Light 38 39.

Shi Yi also seeks reconciliation with the ancestral land, offering to help it survive the coming calamity in exchange for acceptance and access to its inheritance. Chen Yao rejects the proposal and challenges him to defeat Aman or Shi Hao instead 39.

Aman overwhelms him and nearly splits his body apart before the Heaven-Mending Art restores him. Shi Hao then repeatedly defeats him despite that restoration, overpowering his physique, techniques, and divine abilities. Confronted with his mistakes and unable to see a path beyond them, Shi Yi’s Dao heart collapses. He gouges out his Double Pupils and kills himself with the Soul-Destroying Tower; his soul is annihilated, and the discarded eyes explode 40.

The original Supreme Bone is subsequently brought to Stone Village by Shi Zhongtian, still sealed together with Shi Hao’s true blood 42.

Appearance

  • Youthful, valiant bearing: Described as a young but imposing figure when approaching the crowd in the Initial Land 21.
  • Double Pupils: Each eye contains two pupils and can shine with divine light. His right eye turns pitch-black when channeling annihilation and death 10 21.
  • Manifested battle form: Creates Divine Armor around his body and spreads Golden-Winged Roc wings during combat 10 21.

Personality

Shi Yi places exceptional faith in inherited constitution and aptitude. He treats Double Pupils as an invincible path and argues that effort cannot overcome an overwhelming inborn advantage. His confidence persists through early setbacks, which he characterizes as ambushes rather than legitimate defeats 12 22 38 40.

He is calculating about reputation and political support. He permits recordings of his first battle to circulate partly to expose Wu Gensheng’s methods, and his public offer to return the Supreme Bone is explicitly framed as a retreat intended to secure a favorable impression with the Stone Emperor 12 24.

His attachment to the stolen bone becomes inseparable from his need to justify the past. Chen Yao identifies his mother’s death as a reason he cannot accept that the theft was wrong. During his final battle, Shi Yi recalls that accusation, admits his mistake, and breaks down rather than finding a new cultivation path 39 40.

Abilities & Skills

Double Pupils

His innate eyes combine Heavenly Eye perception with the powers of life, death, creation, and annihilation 6 12.

  • Perception and deduction: Slow and analyze movements, see through illusions, and deduce Precious Techniques. He tracks Chen Yao through the void and rapidly identifies the connection between Feng Hou's Mystic Gate and temporal suppression 6 10 11.
  • Left eye—creation and vitality: Heals injuries and creates weapons and Divine Armor 6 11.
  • Right eye—death and destruction: Fires annihilating rays, including the Extinction Profound Light used against Aman 6 10 21.
  • Two-Polarity Divine Light: Combines black-and-white life-and-death power. It destroys Chen Yao’s Qimen formation and can anchor the void 11 22.
  • Small-world creation: Develops this power early through the Ancient Double-Pupil Woman’s instruction 38.
  • Supreme mystery: Chaos World-Opening unites yin and yang to release World-Opening Sword Qi. His demonstrated World-Opening Divine Light is contained by Chen Yao and overcome by Aman 6 39 40.
  • Limits: Chen Yao’s hidden attack disrupts his liver’s wood qi, blurring his vision and removing more than half his combat strength. Thick dark clouds also obstruct his sight during a later ambush 11 22.

Supreme Bone and Supreme Blood

Shi Hao’s transplanted bone and blood reinforce Shi Yi’s foundation and physique, compensating for the physical weakness associated with his Double Pupils 22 40.

  • Nourish his bodily strength alongside Golden Body Liquid 39 40.
  • Grant access to Heavenly Tribulation Light, which he uses against Shi Hao in their final battle 40.
  • Initially remain susceptible to rejection induced by Chen Yao’s Heavenly Demon Tribulation 22 23.
  • Develop anew through the Heaven-Mending Art, producing some supreme blood that belongs to Shi Yi himself 38.

Heaven-Mending Art

Learned in the Ancient Sacred Academy, this art supports both the renewed development of his Supreme Bone and extraordinary restoration in battle 38 40.

  • Reverses grievous bodily damage as though time were flowing backward 40.
  • Repeatedly saves him after Aman and Shi Hao tear through his defenses 40.
  • Does not overcome the disparity in combat strength or prevent his Dao heart’s collapse 40.

Fierce Beast Techniques

  • Golden-Winged Roc wings: Provide high-speed flight and pursuit, initially matching Chen Yao’s talisman-enhanced movement 10 11.
  • Suanni Precious Technique: Withstands and refines surrounding lightning, allowing him to form a golden lightning spear 22.
  • Fierce Beast divine embryos: Five completed cave heavens take tangible embryo forms; their specific divine abilities are not disclosed 32.

Combat Analysis

Shi Yi can maintain a technique both inside and outside his Double Pupils, preserving an internal version when its external manifestation is dissolved. During his first fight with Chen Yao, he uses this safeguard and the suppression technique’s cooldown to break the enemy formation 11.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Creation Divine Armor — Manifested through his left eye; can regenerate through creation vitality, though Chen Yao and Aman both breach it 10 11 40.
  • World-Opening War Halberd — Manifested during the final duel; used with united yin-and-yang power and a small world to deliver an annihilating blow 40.
  • Golden Body Liquid — A body-strengthening resource used alongside Supreme Blood 39 40.
  • Soul-Destroying Tower — Used to strike his own head and annihilate his soul in the Void God Realm 40.

Relationships

  • Shi Hao — Younger cousin and original owner of the transplanted Supreme Bone. Shi Hao defeats him in their final confrontation 22 35 40.
  • Chen Yao / Wu Gensheng — Rival whose techniques repeatedly undermine his Double Pupils and Supreme Bone. Shi Yi considers him a possible Innate Supreme and seeks a decisive duel 11 22 38.
  • Shi Xiaoman / Aman — Opponent seeking revenge for Shi Hao. She challenges him at the same level and ultimately overwhelms him 32 40.
  • Ancient Double-Pupil Woman — Mentor who helps him develop small-world creation and advises him to find his own path rather than let his bloodline define his achievements 38 40.
  • Shi Ziteng — Father; his connections help draw Shi Yi toward Demon Spirit Lake. He grieves openly after Shi Yi’s death 35 41.
  • Mother — Deceased; her role in the past and her death become central to Shi Yi’s unresolved guilt 34 39 40.
  • Fifth Grandfather — Powerful defender of Shi Yi who attempts to protect him and suppress Shi Hao’s return 22 23.
  • Stone Emperor — Receives Shi Yi’s pledge to return the bone but remains unconvinced, withholding a heavenly-treasure baptism and warning against an alliance with Demon Spirit Lake 24 35.
