He had always made his way there, but some years earlier, the Demon Path had run rampant in Western Hunan, leaving rogue cultivators unsure whether they would live to see tomorrow. It was later confirmed that the ones responsible were Daoist Cheng of Three Pure Ones Mountain and Daoist Shen of Sanyuan Mountain-the very Northern and Southern Kui Stars who had slaughtered so freely in Shizhou. Both were Dao seeds of the Archetypal Sects.
His heart had stirred at once. After all, it was hard to leave one's homeland. If Western Hunan had lost such a great scourge, he rather wanted to return.
But everyone around him had advised against it. Soul-Losing Ravine was gone, but the even more vicious Heavenly Scabbard Mountain remained. Du Yuxi thought they had a point, and staying put was better than moving, so he abandoned the idea. At the time, he had even said to his friends,
"If only those masters would act again and wipe out Heavenly Scabbard Mountain too."
