After returning to his sect, Cheng Xinzhan stayed for only ten days or so. The Dragon King left at the end of the second month, and on the first day of the third month, Daoist Shengying came calling and invited him to Gezao Mountain.
Once Daoist Shengying explained his purpose, Three Pure Ones Mountain simply could not refuse. Gezao Mountain had contributed greatly to both the founding of the mountain and the establishment of its teachings. Even now, Cliffside Mountain and Cinnabar Glow Mountain still honored Gezao Mountain as their external parent sect.
Cheng Xinzhan could not refuse either. Back at Heavenly Scabbard Mountain, he had secretly learned their sect's foundational scripture, the "Supreme Wondrous Scripture of the Most High Cavern-Mystery Lingbao for the Boundless Salvation of Humanity," and they had not held it against him. This time, they had also guided him through the ritual ceremonies for welcoming the Dragon Lord and taught him the "Cavern-Mystery Lingbao Chapters on Ascending the Mysteries and Pacing the Void." After such kindness, all they asked now was that he come expound the Dao, and they were even willing to open their scripture pavilion to him. What more was there to say?
His stay at Gezao Mountain lasted a full three months. By the first day of the sixth month, Daoist Zhenchang, Vice Sect Master of nearby Sanyuan Mountain, was already knocking at the door.
And so, without a gap between engagements, Cheng Xinzhan was invited over to Sanyuan Mountain.
This infuriated Daoist Nengyue. Only when he saw the Dragon King's ceremonial procession returning to the sea did he realize that Three Pure Ones Mountain had finished its business. He came to invite Cheng Xinzhan, only to be told upon entering Three Pure Ones Mountain that Gezao Mountain had already taken him away.
