Every Immortal Sect had an Ascension Platform. Three Pure Ones Mountain had one too, atop Purple Mist Mountain in the Lotus Blessed Land. It was called the Flying Immortal Terrace, but the meaning was essentially the same. Before the Severing Heaven and Earth, the Immortals above could see people ascending from the lower realm. The Ascension Platform served as a marker. When members of a lower-realm Immortal Sect ascended from their own platform, the guidance of its aura and location made it easier for the Immortals above to recognize their origins and receive them at the Heavenly Gate. Nor was that all. Even now, with passage between above and below blocked, some of the platform's functions remained effective. For example, the immortal qi and Dao resonance left by accomplished, virtuous predecessors could help later generations calm their minds at a critical moment or attain sudden enlightenment on the spot. Furthermore, the Ascension Platform itself was a profound array that could help people clear their minds and quiet their desires, while also isolating its interior from the outside to prevent interference from inner or external demons.
Precisely for these reasons, building an Ascension Platform demanded great care and immense resources. Only eminent Immortal Sects that produced Immortals generation after generation could build one. Besides, for a major sect that did not produce Immortals generation after generation, building such a thing served no purpose at all.
For an Immortal Sect, its secret realms, grotto-heavens, and Ascension Platform were all absolutely central restricted grounds. Outsiders could not possibly be allowed to come and go at will. In the Divine Empyrean School's eyes, however, the Grand Master was naturally no outsider, so he could enter its grotto-heaven and visit its Ascension Platform as well.
