Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Qi Refining, ninth level | 1 | Starting documented cultivation. Gains accumulated through everyday activities had helped him become an Inner Sect Disciple. |
| Foundation Establishment Early Stage | 4 | Extracted stored vitality and cultivation while circulating Heavenly Sound, Hundred Turns. The breakthrough made Daily Appraisal available to learn. |
| Foundation Establishment Middle Stage | 15 | Filled both reserves to 100/100, largely through the Heavenly Fragrance Dao Flower and harvesting spirit herbs. Primordial Chaos Heart Scripture broke the bottleneck with purple qi. |
| Foundation Establishment Late Stage | 26 27 | Filled his blood essence and cultivation reserves, then advanced using the Primordial Chaos Heart Scripture before the Demon Grotto mission. |
| Foundation Establishment Perfection | 30 31 | Completed his reserves by killing Demonfolk. Broke through inside a large tree just as Lou Feng attacked; protective armor blocked the initial strike. |
| Golden Core Early Stage | 38 39 | Collected the final blood-essence point from the garden, exhausted both reserves, and formed a golden core in his dantian through the Primordial Chaos Heart Scripture. |
- Reached Foundation Establishment Perfection about nine months after entering Foundation Establishment, and early Golden Core in less than a year after that initial breakthrough 33 40.
- Higher cultivation reduced his blue-bubble frequency: the Heavenly Fragrance Dao Flower shifted from daily production to once every three days, while the Snow Lotus’s interval increased from three days to nine 26 40.
Background / History
Jiang Hao transmigrated into the cultivation world from birth. His childhood included being driven out of his home and secretly sold to a demonic sect by his stepmother. His cultivation aptitude and the sect’s recruitment of disciples spared him from potentially becoming a blood-sacrifice victim 1.
He would have preferred a righteous sect, particularly the reputedly strongest immortal sect, Haotian Sect. Instead, he grew up in the Heavenly Sound Sect and became Ku Wuchang’s disciple at Heartbreak Cliff. His aptitude was assessed as above average; ordinary cultivation would have brought him to Foundation Establishment only in his thirties or forties 1 4 5 6.
His hidden panel and bubble collection allowed him to advance much faster. To explain an earlier surge in cultivation, he claimed to have eaten a strange fruit during an outing. Access to the Spirit Medicine Garden made his gains more reliable than the chance encounters he had depended on previously 4 8.
Personality
Jiang Hao is cautious, private, and primarily concerned with surviving long enough to cultivate safely. He conceals his advancement, avoids attracting attention, and carefully weighs the consequences of both exposing infiltrators and accepting their requests. He does not casually assume that righteous-sect disciples are trustworthy or that demonic-sect disciples are uniformly cruel 5 10 17 35.
His treatment of ordinary garden workers gives him a relatively upright reputation. Under his supervision, mistakes no longer carry the constant threat of execution. This gentleness does not prevent decisive violence: when Yun Ruo tried to make him her scapegoat or kill him, he attacked by surprise and repeatedly checked that she was dead 4 6.
He regards growing strength as security rather than proof that he can take unnecessary risks. After considering testing his saber against a Golden Core cultivator, he rejected the idea as overconfidence. He later acknowledged that his mental maturity had not kept pace with his cultivation and resolved to reflect on himself regularly 27 37 43.
Abilities & Skills
Hidden Panel and Bubble Collection
- Possesses a status panel invisible to other people, tracking cultivation, physical-energy reserves, divine abilities, and special rewards 1 44.
- Collects bubbles that merge into his body, granting strength, endurance, spirit, cultivation, vitality, pills, weapons, and ability fragments 3 4 11 17.
- Garden work is essential to sustained production: neglecting spirit-herb processing leaves fewer bubbles the following day 4.
- Better spirit herbs offer better opportunities for valuable bubbles. Killing Demonfolk also yields cultivation and vital-energy bubbles, though inconsistently 4 29.
- Three divine-ability fragments allow him to acquire an ability. Special rewards supplied the Primordial Chaos Heart Scripture and Primordial Heaven Saber 11 12 14 45.
Daily Appraisal
- Learned after reaching Foundation Establishment; permits one appraisal per day 4 6.
- Reveals information about objects, plants, people, and beasts, including concealed identities, intentions, conditions, and care requirements 4 6 11 41.
- Exposed Yun Ruo’s scapegoat scheme, Jin Zhouheng’s revenge motive, and the garden saboteur’s puppet identity 6 37 47.
- Returned only question marks when used on Hong Yuye; Jiang Hao could not determine why 16 17.
Clear Mind, Pure Heart
- Acquired by spending three divine-ability fragments. Clears his thoughts and improves his understanding of difficult material 12.
- Immediately improved his talisman-making, allowing five successful talismans from ten sets of materials 12.
- Helped him master Demonic Sound Slash in seven days; he also used it to study the much harder Seven Forms of the Heavenly Saber 26 35.
Cultivation and Concealment
- Heavenly Sound, Hundred Turns — His original cultivation method, used for his first Foundation Establishment breakthrough 1 4.
- Primordial Chaos Heart Scripture — Produces primordial chaos purple qi that conceals internal energy. Switching methods strengthened him without changing his realm and allowed him to continue presenting his power as Heavenly Sound, Hundred Turns 14.
- Nameless Manual — Hong Yuye’s notes teach control of aura, breathing, spiritual awareness, and strength. They also explain how to infer another cultivator’s realm from those signs 17.
- His concealment is not infallible: Hong Yuye recognized his Foundation Establishment Middle Stage cultivation despite his efforts 16.
Saber Techniques
- Demonic Sound Slash — Taught by Ku Wuchang. Produces a powerful saber phantom accompanied by thunderous demonic sound; its conspicuous nature does not suit the Shadow Saber’s assassination-oriented properties 26 27.
- Seven Forms of the Heavenly Saber — Received from Hong Yuye on the condition that he defeat Han Ming 35.
- First Form: Moon-Splitting Slash — Mastered and tested with Half-Moon; used to kill Jin Zhouheng with a surprise strike 37 40.
- Second Form: Mountain Suppression — Emphasizes overwhelming pressure and the weight of mountains and seas. Jiang Hao gained an initial understanding and found Poem Whisper well suited to it 48.
Physical Strength and Close Combat
- Repeated strength and endurance gains give him physical advantages over others at the same cultivation level 3 13.
- At Foundation Establishment Late Stage, shattered a boulder with a punch using physical strength alone 27.
- Uses surprise attacks and close-range weapons to compensate for dangerous matchups. During the Demon Grotto battle, purple qi strengthened a finger strike that broke Lou Feng’s saber and a palm strike that crushed his ribs and organs 6 32.
Talisman Crafting and Spirit-Herb Care
- Learned talisman crafting to earn spirit stones for his compensation debt. His success rate reached ninety percent for the talismans he was practicing at that time, while higher-grade attempts remained less reliable 9 15.
- Crafts Blazing Fire, Focus, Divine Sword, and Myriad Sword Talismans; keeps powerful talismans in reserve for dangerous missions 18 24 27.
- Uses appraisal to monitor spirit-herb health. Successfully tended Pure Yang Flowers with lava and identified their early maturation 10 11.
- Cares for the Heavenly Fragrance Dao Flower by watering it with one bowl of water each day 14 43.
Nine-Turn Substitute Death
- A unique divine ability already present on his initial panel 1.
- Jiang Hao treats it as a possible means of substituting for his death or faking death to escape. He has only one chance available and remains uncertain about the outcome 1 13 25.
Heaven-Extinguishing Yang Gu
- Carries the Yang Gu of the Heaven-Extinguishing Gu Poison after Hong Yuye forced him to swallow a pill 1 7.
- Causes “sage-like abstinence” toward women other than the Yin Gu carrier, Hong Yuye. This prevented Yun Ruo’s charm technique from influencing him 7 16.
- His emotional calm changes noticeably around Hong Yuye; he does not regard the poison as an uncomplicated benefit 17 43.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Poem Whisper, the Primordial Heaven Saber — Silver-white saber obtained from a golden-legend reward. Forged within chaos, it can become a lifebound treasure and grow with its owner. Jiang Hao began refining it in secret 45.
- Half-Moon Blade — His publicly used saber, wielded against Jin Zhouheng and the spirit-field saboteurs 37 40 47.
- Shadow Saber — Purchased for the Demon Grotto mission. Suited to assassination, but badly cracked during his battle with Qing Xue; Hong Yuye later took it 27 33 35.
- Armor from the Nine Heavens Battle Armor set — Protective soft armor capable of defending against most attacks below Golden Core. Additional set pieces increase its defensive strength 21.
- Spirit-gathering array diagram — Given by Hong Yuye to prevent spiritual qi from dissipating and improve cultivation 16.
- Heavenly Fragrance Dao Flower — Entrusted to him as a seed by Bai Zhi and later claimed by Hong Yuye. A valuable source of cultivation bubbles that also draws hostile attention 12 14 16 34.
- Snow Lotus and Blue Lotus — Courtyard plants used for bubble collection; the Blue Lotus also gathers spiritual energy 24 26.
- Spirit-beast restraining collar — Foundation Establishment Early Stage collar purchased for Rabbit at a cost of five hundred spirit stones. Must be replaced if the beast outgrows its restraint 42.
- Six Premium Talismans — A hundred-spirit-stone reference book covering six talismans suitable for Foundation Establishment and Golden Core cultivators 42.
Relationships
- Hong Yuye — The powerful woman who spent a night with him and administered the Yang Gu. She demands that he grow her flower, threatens him, and supplies cultivation guidance and saber techniques 1 16 17 35.
- Ku Wuchang — Master and Heartbreak Cliff lord. Receives Jiang Hao’s reports after killing infiltrators and teaches him Demonic Sound Slash 6 26 40.
- Liu Xingchen — Law Enforcement Hall contact and concealed Haotian Sect True Disciple. Provides warnings and watchlist protection, but befriends Jiang Hao partly to approach the flower and watch events unfold 7 20 22 34.
- Bai Zhi — Acting sect master who entrusts him with the Heavenly Fragrance Dao Flower seed. Jiang Hao recognizes that the planting assignment is also intended to lure interested parties 12 15 17.
- Yun Ruo — Senior sister and Sunset Glow Sect infiltrator. Targeted him as a scapegoat; he killed her in self-defense, provoking lasting retaliation 6 7 37.
- Han Ming — Gifted junior brother and True Disciple determined to surpass him. After losing their private spar, Han Ming resolves to advance and win back his pride 23 36.
- Zhou Chan — Friendly White Moon Lake senior sister who guides him during the Pure Yang Flower assignment and later relays reassurance about his absence 10 11 26.
- Cheng Chou — Garden worker who assists him with information and alerts him to the troublesome spirit beast 37 40.
- Rabbit — Spirit pet with a hidden Lie Beast bloodline, originally an Azure Heaven Mountain agent. Jiang Hao keeps it after its concealed treasures are removed; it later gains speech and calls him “Master” 41 43 47 48.
- Mu Qi — Heartbreak Cliff True Disciple who thanks him for defending the garden and later arranges for him to take over a Mining Grounds assignment 47 50.
- Wei Lie — Temporary superior at the Mining Grounds. Treats Jiang Hao as a Foundation Establishment Middle Stage subordinate and demands strict obedience 50.
Story Role / Major Arcs
