No wonder he had kept feeling that something was off along the way. Lao Mo was gone!
Back when Lao Mo was there, although he had felt a little creeped out, the entire Student Passage had been relatively normal. But now, with Lao Mo gone, the entire Student Passage had changed for Lin Yi.
An ordinary person might not have felt this change, and even Tian Bufan seemed not to have noticed it, but Lin Yi had.
It was a change he could not put into words, yet it kept leaving him with a sense of unease.
It was like a tree outside your window covered in blossoms. One day, a rainstorm knocked them all off. At first, looking at the tree, you would not think anything was wrong, but once you remembered that the blossoms had been there, the bare tree would look wrong no matter how you looked at it.
Before he could think about Lao Mo, or about what had happened with Wei Liang's ghastly appearance after he lifted the Plastic Air Curtain, some changes in the Student Dining Hall immediately caught Lin Yi's attention.
First was the lighting.
The area illuminated by the incandescent lights in the Cafeteria had clearly shrunk somewhat. Of the five meal windows, only the middle three were open. Meal Window No. 1 on the far left and Meal Window No. 5 on the far right were both shrouded in shadow.
Even so, there were lines at all five meal windows.
Now, however, Lin Yi could sense the presence of those lines. Whether at Meal Window No. 1 or Meal Window No. 5, none of those waiting were "human." They were all Impersonators.
