Lin Mo transmigrated into the cultivation world more than a century before the story begins and could remember events from birth. The youngest of more than a dozen siblings, he had the least cultivation talent in an impoverished family. His parents sold him to the First Saint Sect as a child 1 38.

His spiritual meridians did not qualify as first-grade, leaving him unable to realize his youthful ambitions of revenge. After several years of bullying among the servant disciples, his excellent work earned him Liu Ziyan’s personal selection as the Purple Heaven Palace’s servant. By approximately 110, Lin Mo was approaching death after a century of service. Personality

Lin Mo is cautious, distrustful, and practiced at surviving unequal relationships. He routinely uses deference, flattery, and feigned helplessness to conceal his intentions. Even after Shangguan Wuqing becomes his protector, he refuses to trust her completely or let her bind him too closely to her squad 13 39 43.

His submissive exterior conceals enduring resentment. Near death, fear of wasting his entire life without resisting outweighs fear of punishment. Once cultivation gives him a future again, he returns to a patient approach: conceal his strength, avoid unnecessary danger, and retaliate when an enemy becomes an immediate threat 2 3 29 31 41.

He is openly self-interested. He negotiates payments for dangerous work, abandons Bai Hua despite her pleas for rescue, and values cultivation more than the profitable but time-consuming position of Maidservant Department steward 19 30 33. Toward his parents, he expresses neither affection nor outright hatred, regarding his birth and subsequent suffering as debts that cancel each other out 38.

His wooden cabin is an exception to his guarded outlook: he considers the shabby home his most treasured place and feels secure upon returning to it 15.
