Her initial pursuit of Lin Mo is coercive. After he declines her offer of employment, she abducts him, makes intimacy a condition of release, and later demands both secrecy and his continued availability. Background / History

Lü Mingtong’s Arrest and Lin Mo’s Abduction

Shangguan Wuqing enters the story by interrupting Zhao Donghai’s attempt to kill the bound Lin Mo. She arrests Lü Mingtong for suspected murders of more than a hundred servant disciples, theft of sect resources, and abuse of Lin Mo, then orders everyone present taken to the Enforcement Hall 11.

She offers Lin Mo a servant position at her residence as a way to escape his predicament. He refuses and is subsequently abducted. When her master demands that the missing servant be found, Wuqing conceals her involvement. She later releases him after their first intimate encounter, requiring him to keep it secret and return when summoned 13 14 15.

Protection and the Zhuiming Conflict

Wuqing protects Lin Mo from disciples watching his spirit stones and arranges another meeting with him. She later suspects him of killing Zhou Ze but declines to investigate, instead offering him the vacant Maidservant Department steward position; he refuses 20 22 30.

When Lin Mo seeks refuge from a powerful enemy, she offers her residence and arranges to distract Zhuiming. During their time together, she reaches Middle Golden Core and encourages Lin Mo to take the Inner Sect Disciple examination, offering to use her master’s influence to place him in the Vermilion Bird Squad 36 37 38 39.

Zhuiming sends Zhu Fan into her home while attempting to keep her occupied. Wuqing recognizes the diversion, rushes back, and finds Lin Mo missing after a battle. After Dugu Liuli arrests Lin Mo over Zhu Fan’s death, Wuqing enters the interrogation room and secures his release. Liuli subsequently confronts her with knowledge of their relationship 45 46.

Wuqing then helps Lin Mo ambush and kill Liu Tie. When Su Meiyu learns of his disappearance and orders her to lead the Vermilion Bird Squad to the No. 9 mineral vein, Wuqing suspects that someone is deliberately removing her from Lin Mo’s side. Unable to defy the forces influencing her master, she leaves; Dugu Liuli arrests Lin Mo again in her absence 47 48 49.
