"IG!"
"IG!"
Inside the arena, the IG fans finally had their moment to celebrate.
Although most WE fans had fallen silent or even left early, plenty of spectators had come simply to watch the matches.
IG had genuinely played well in both games-perfectly, even-so those spectators joined in the cheering too.
"The Dog Sons are finally standing tall!"
At this point, IG's fans had yet to acquire the nickname Chicken Fans. They were still known as the "Dog Sons," universally acknowledged as the most miserable fanbase.
Compared with names like 59E, 60E, Royal Fans, and Pig Fans, that nickname clearly placed them at the bottom of the pecking order.
But today, they seemed to have finally turned things around!
The cheers of IG's fans rang throughout the enormous arena. There weren't many of them, but they were exceptionally loud!
Before long, the official MVP for the game was announced.
With an 11-0-1 scoreline, his Twitch's performance had been nothing short of spectacular!
The stats appeared on the big screen alongside a hastily taken photo of Lu Chen.
In the photo, the young man wore white, his eyes seemingly gleaming. His expression was calm, as though victory was his for the taking!
"Chen Yu!"
"C God! You're so handsome!"
"You're our savior, C God! You saved IG!"
Seeing this, the IG fans grew even more excited and began calling out Lu Chen's ID.
Of course, Lu Chen knew nothing of this yet.
Meanwhile, backstage.
In IG's lounge.
Lu Chen and the others had barely sat down when a staff member opened the door to remind them about the interview.
Su Xiaoluo then turned to them with a smile. "Get ready, Lu Chen. Your interview's coming up."
"Got it." Lu Chen propped his chin on one hand, his gaze thoughtful.
Rookie had already told Lu Chen earlier, so he wasn't particularly surprised.
Lu Chen had a rough idea of what questions he would be asked during the interview.
After all, he'd watched plenty of post-match interview videos.
Still, now that it was his turn to be interviewed, he couldn't help feeling a little hesitant.
"Relax." The smile simply wouldn't leave Su Xiaoluo's face. "It's easy. Just avoid talking too much about your personal life. Talk more about how the matches felt and your future as a pro."
It wasn't that he couldn't control his smile.
Those two games had simply been too beautiful!
And Lu Chen had hard-carried both!
WE, one of the mighty Three Royal Houses, hadn't even lasted twenty minutes in either game!
Never mind anything else-Su Xiaoluo could already imagine how ridiculously popular their team would become after this match!
A little later.
Lu Chen walked through the arena corridor and arrived at the interview area, where plenty of spectators were seated below the stage.
The host, Ren Dong, had been waiting for quite some time. Seeing Lu Chen arrive, he stood and smiled. "I finally get to meet the legendary C God! That wasn't easy. I'm a fan of yours, you know. I've watched your streams!"
Lu Chen scratched his head, looking a little shy. "Hello."
"Ready?" Ren Dong raised his microphone and asked with a smile. "Shall we start if you are?"
"Sure." Lu Chen nodded, showing no sign of stage fright.
"All right." Ren Dong turned toward the audience below. "As we all know, IG had a rookie player in today's match who attracted a lot of attention and delivered an outstanding performance. How about introducing yourself to everyone first?"
"Okay." Lu Chen took the microphone. "Hello, everyone. I'm IG's AD carry, Chen Yu."
A wave of cheers immediately rose from the audience.
"You had a perfect debut, even picking up a pentakill and an MVP. How are you feeling right now?"
Lu Chen thought for a moment. "Pretty happy, I guess."
Despite saying that, his face was practically expressionless, which surprised even Ren Dong.
A professional player had scored a pentakill and an MVP on his debut, yet he didn't seem excited at all?
If it had been him, he'd probably have been over the moon!
"Ahem."
Ren Dong cleared his throat, collected his thoughts, and continued, "As everyone knows, before becoming a pro, Chen Yu reached rank one on the Chinese server with an incredible win rate. Then he reached rank one on the Korean Server in a very short time. Do you have any tips for climbing that you could share with everyone?"
"Tips?" Lu Chen looked a little puzzled, as though he were asking whether something as simple as climbing the ladder really needed tips.
Finally, after considering it for a moment, he said, "If I had to name something, it'd be lane well and teamfight well. You win if you don't make mistakes. Oh, right, you need decent luck too. You can't have too many teammates going AFK."
"..."
Ren Dong was somewhat stunned and couldn't find anything to say for a moment.
Bro, how is that answer any different from saying nothing at all?!
Even among pro players, who could guarantee they wouldn't make mistakes?
Wait. In those two games just now, it actually seemed like there really hadn't been any mistakes to point to!
The spectators below were thoroughly amused too.
"That's C God for you. One sentence and the host's finished!"
"I already lost it when he said he was happy with that completely blank face. Hahahaha!"
"He's not wrong, though. If you don't make mistakes in lane or teamfights, you'll climb like crazy."
"Of course he's not wrong. It's like asking me how to put an elephant in a fridge. Open the door, put it in, close the door. Such a simple process."
"Didn't you see C God's face just now? It was like he was saying, 'Do you really need to ask something this simple?' I'm dying."
"He says the most outrageous things with a completely straight face. What an interview genius."
In the end.
Ren Dong asked a few more standard questions.
Lu Chen answered all of them normally. Of course, his version of "normal" sounded rather abnormal to everyone else.
For example.
Question: On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your performance in this match?
Answer: Ten, I guess. Just my usual performance.
Question: Since this is your first appearance on the LPL stage, is there anything you'd like to say to your fans, or any good wishes you'd like to share?
Answer: Thanks for your support, everyone. I can't think of any other good wishes, so I hope every pack of instant noodles you buy comes with two noodle blocks.
By the end of the interview, Ren Dong no longer knew how to respond.
The audience below, however, was having the time of their lives.
"All right, that concludes today's interview."
With the host's announcement, the interview also
came to an end.
Only then did Lu Chen finally breathe out and stroll back to the lounge.
A little later.
The official interview video was uploaded online, immediately drawing another flood of jokes and comments.
Inside IG's lounge.
"Bro! You've gone viral!"
The moment Lu Chen entered, Ning Wang excitedly ran over with his phone raised. "That interview was absolute gold!"
The corner of Lu Chen's mouth twitched as he calmly pushed him aside. "Bro, I was already famous."
"..." Ning Wang's expression froze, and he was immediately at a loss for words.
On second thought, that was true.
Before the Summer Split began, C God had remained hugely popular throughout the entire offseason.
After thinking it over, Ning Wang muttered, "That's different. Before, it was C God, some random ladder player, who was famous. Now it's Chen Yu, the professional player."
Su Xiaoluo came over as well, smiling so broadly his face was almost creased all over. "You answered really well. Pack up and get ready for a big meal. The boss is treating us! He watched today's match and said we could eat whatever we wanted. He'll cover the bill, no matter how much!"
Kid, who had been sitting farther back, cheerfully stood up. "Then how about we order first?"
"Sure." Su Xiaoluo found Kid more likable by the minute. If not for him, they wouldn't have brought Lu Chen into IG. "You handle the ordering, then."
