"Borrow an outlet to charge your phone?"
"If you've still got a little battery, scan the code and rent a power bank." The owner of the little supermarket was a young man in his early thirties. He was busy fighting another player in a computer game and did not turn around, looking thoroughly worked up.
"It's completely dead. I can't scan for a power bank. Let me borrow an outlet, boss."
Chen Jue could naturally see that he was busy. He found an outlet on the counter and plugged in his phone.
While waiting for it to charge enough to turn on, Chen Jue felt bored and carefully studied the emotional fluctuations emanating from the supermarket's middle-aged owner: the joy, tension, excitement, thrill, and exhilaration of playing a game.
As he watched, Chen Jue suddenly discovered that, under the influence of the [Sacred Heart] state, he could see fantastical colors corresponding to those emotional fluctuations, as though an extremely faint colored halo enveloped the man.
It looked very much like the rainbow halos ordinary people occasionally saw around the sun.
Red, orange... Are these mental fluctuations taking on color?
The [Sacred Heart] state can actually strengthen my Heavenly Sensitivity to this degree? Chen Jue wondered, curiosity showing in his eyes.
Just as Chen Jue became absorbed in watching, the emotional colors emanating from the supermarket owner suddenly turned from orange-red to black, a color symbolizing dejection and despondency.
The man slumped into his gaming chair, all enthusiasm gone, and cursed, "Goddammit! They turned it around on us again! Garbage game. You can't play without spending money!"
Apparently having lost the game, the supermarket owner's spirits plummeted. His earlier exhilaration gone, he lit a cigarette and glanced back at Chen Jue.
But that one glance filled the owner with solemn respect.
