Chen Jue had thought that following the sense of direction provided by [Manas Consciousness] and heading west would take him straight to China's eastern coast, letting him visit his hometown of Wenzhou along the way. He had never expected to end up on Japanese soil instead.
Half-submerged in seawater, Chen Jue looked around. He was on an extremely small beach, only three or four hundred meters long, with very coarse sand and gravel. A little garbage floated on the sea, and there was not a single visitor on the beach. It clearly was not a popular tourist attraction.
He looked toward the busy docks several kilometers away, then at the clusters of civilian houses along the shore. Only the occasional vehicle passed along the road on the seawall, with no pedestrians in sight. His anxiety eased for the moment.
Good! At least I haven't wandered into some military base, Chen Jue thought, walking out of the sea onto the beach.
Looking down at his outfit, Chen Jue used his powerful night vision to scan the clothes drying outside the distant houses. An idea struck him, and he took off the Aerospace Combat Suit that covered him so thoroughly.
"This thing stands out too much..." After a moment's thought, Chen Jue turned back and rapidly dug a pit over ten meters deep with his bare hands in the stretch of beach covered by seawater. He buried the Aerospace Combat Suit inside, along with the Tang Dao and several telescopic javelins attached to it.
After filling the hole with sand, he watched the seawater wash its surface smooth. Only when he felt he had covered his tracks perfectly did he stand and walk briskly up onto the seawall.
Now wearing nothing but close-fitting boxer briefs, he exposed his sharply defined upper body
