Background / History
General Ha was Lu Ran’s longtime pet before the appearance of Contract Cards. After recognizing Lu Ran as the benefactor who had saved him, he became deeply obedient to him. Lu Ran chose him as his first contracted pet beast because they shared his strongest bond with an animal, and because General Ha already possessed the temperament and training needed for combat 3.
Before becoming a pet beast, General Ha had learned unusual skills through Lu Ran’s training, including holding a sword in his mouth and performing slashes. Lu Ran initially taught him swordsmanship for fun, partly to imitate Yazi, the fierce mythical creature depicted carrying a sword in its mouth. Once supernatural energy became available, this impractical hobby became the basis of General Ha’s fighting style 17 41.
Appearance
- Blue eyes: His eyes develop bloodshot streaks when pain and excitement push him toward his berserk state 3 7.
- Large build: Contract enhancement changes him from a medium-sized dog into one comparable in size to a large dog 4.
- Increasingly wolf-like: By Level 6, his stronger physique gives him a more imposing, wolf-like appearance 34.
- Wind-energy effects: Awakening surrounds him with faint sky-blue currents; intensified Energy Flow creates a visibly surging coat of energy 19 33.
- Sword carried in his jaws: He fights with a physical sword or a wind-shaped blade held between his teeth 17 36.
Personality
General Ha loves fighting, eagerly seeks stronger opponents, and takes pride in his abilities. He holds grudges against enemies and anyone who belittles him, although a nap can make him forget them. Lu Ran compares his fierce temperament to Yazi’s, while distinguishing him by his fundamentally good attitude and gratitude toward his rescuer 3 20 41.
His apparently foolish behavior contrasts with exceptional learning ability. He enthusiastically accepts strenuous combat training but recoils at the prospect of academic lessons. He generally leaves decisions to Lu Ran and follows his instructions, while remaining alert enough to place himself between Lu Ran and perceived threats 5 6 18 25 37.
The Divine Deer Pendant’s healing makes him increasingly reckless: during the beginner trial, he begins trading injuries for injuries to win fights. Lu Ran recognizes the effectiveness of this approach but worries about its risks, particularly against venomous opponents 8.
Abilities & Skills
Physical Strength and Senses
Contract enhancement improves General Ha’s body and sensory abilities before he awakens an attribute 4.
- Kills a Level 2 Demon Cat with a bite to the neck while still at Level 1 5 6.
- Detects approaching danger and identifies the scent of human blood on the escaped Northeast Tiger 5 20.
- Remembers and tracks the Demon Cat Leader’s scent when returning to challenge it 50.
Wind Energy Coating
General Ha coats his body and external objects in wind energy to increase their combat effectiveness 19 33.
- Runs substantially faster than a cheetah and shatters a rock with a wind-wrapped paw 19.
- Extends the coating to swords and improvised weapons such as branches 19 20.
- Ordinary wooden swords cannot withstand his wind power and may burst apart 19.
- Early high-speed movement is less effective around obstacles, prompting agility training through ruined terrain 33 34.
Gale
Gale combines wind coating with rapid Energy Flow, increasing attack, movement, and release speeds 34.
- Enables sharp changes of direction even during high-speed charges 36.
- Can be intensified beyond ordinary Gale while remaining controlled, at the cost of some bodily damage 34.
- Supports Gale Sword Aura, allowing several sword-aura attacks in immediate succession 48.
Swordsmanship and Sword Aura
General Ha uses mouth-held swords to deliver close-range slashes and release ranged wind blades 17 30.
- Learns Sword Aura in roughly one or two days, astonishing Lu Ran with his comprehension 30.
- Initially spends about one-quarter of his stamina on a single Sword Aura at Level 4, making it a limited-use trump card 31.
- Improves accuracy by attacking moving stones thrown by Lu Ran 34.
- Demonstrates the Gale-Draw Sword Technique, combining a rapid dash, leap, and sword slash 41.
- Despite his speed and talent, Jiang Dou identifies flaws and immaturity in his sword technique 41.
Wind Roar
Wind Roar gathers wind energy inside his body and releases it through his mouth 36.
- Creates enough resistance to halt Wild Boar’s charge 36.
- At its first demonstration, has almost no killing power and primarily disrupts movement 36.
Wind Sword
Wind Sword uses Energy Shaping to create a tangible blade entirely from wind 36.
- Removes the need for a physical sword and possesses powerful cutting properties 36.
- Is learned independently before Lu Ran formally begins teaching him Energy Shaping 36.
- Helps him defeat the Demon Cat Leader without using the Windfall Sword 50.
Sword Intent
General Ha’s sword intent produces an intimidating presence separate from the energy system 41 50.
- Shocks Jiang Dou and makes Senior Brother He reluctant to meet his gaze 41.
- Exerts mental pressure that can function as crowd control 50.
- Is distinct from sword will, which Jiang Dou describes as a further realm rather than an ability General Ha has attained 41.
Berserk State
Extreme battle excitement or injury can make General Ha lose his reason and sense of pain, allowing him to unleash more of his fighting potential 7.
- Bloodshed and wounds are potential triggers 7.
- Energy Surge Fruit training also pushes him into a battle frenzy 33.
- Lu Ran’s Telepathy is the only method identified for restoring his reason in this state 7 33.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Windfall Sword — Forged by Master Lin from meteoric iron supplied by Lu Ran, for a fee of 2,000 Crystal Coins. Conducts and amplifies General Ha’s wind energy 26.
- Wind-Slaying Sword — Lu Ran’s weapon, temporarily used by General Ha to demonstrate the Gale-Draw Sword Technique at Rainbow Sky Dojo 26 41.
- Wooden swords and branches — Early practice weapons and improvised substitutes before obtaining the Windfall Sword 17 19 20.
- Black Contract Card — Allows Lu Ran to recall, transport, and summon him; records his growth level and acquired skills 5 19 34.
- Divine Deer Pendant — Lu Ran’s healing heirloom, used to restore General Ha after injuries and dangerous training. Its first healing also toughens his flesh 8 33 34.
- Energy Surge Fruits — Training resources that expose him to accelerated Energy Flow, with painful aftereffects treated by the pendant 33 34.
Relationships
- Lu Ran — Rescuer, owner, Beast Tamer, and swordsmanship instructor. General Ha calls him “Boss Lu”; their training lets Lu Ran gain strength through Super Beast Mimicry and later feed swordsmanship experience back to him 3 17 34 41.
- Jiang Dou — Lu Ran’s swordsmanship master. Initially dismisses General Ha’s technique, then offers to accept him as a disciple after witnessing his sword intent; Lu Ran declines on his behalf 41.
- Sudden Death King — Lu Ran’s other pet. General Ha initially treats the awakened lizard as a potential threat; the timid lizard later admires his fearlessness against powerful opponents 37 49.
- Pig Farmer and Wild Boar — Sparring opponents used to test General Ha’s abilities against Rock-attribute defenses 35 36.
- Manager Ying — Witnesses his victory over a Necromancer. Her remark that he does not look bright earns her a place among his grudges 48 49.
