Types of Secret Realm

Newbie Trials and Ordinary Challenges

The Newbie Trial is a restricted section of an easy-difficulty Novice Secret Realm, not the complete map. This explains why Lu Ran’s first Demon Cat Forest trial contains almost no creatures above level 5, while the repeatable version includes a level-10 leader 22 30.

Breakthrough Secret Realms

• Mandatory bottlenecks: Pet beasts stop leveling every ten levels. Beast Tamers must clear the corresponding Breakthrough Secret Realm to advance themselves and their pets 11 16.
• Shared benefit: Clearing a corresponding breakthrough once benefits all of the Beast Tamer’s pet beasts 16.
• Additional contracts: Breakthroughs are the only known way to obtain additional Contract Cards; these cards cannot be traded 11.
• Skill capacity: Beast Tamers can learn only one beast-taming skill at each level stage. Advancing therefore opens the next skill slot 16.
• Task variety: Master Lin states that 90% test combat ability. His unusual task instead required participants to forge equipment suitable for their pets and meet a specified grade 26.
• Participant allocation: Entrants are assigned randomly, creating the possibility of encountering hostile Beast Tamers 47.

Access and Exploration

• Initial teleportation: Contracting General Ha starts Lu Ran’s approximately one-hour countdown to the Newbie Trial 4.
• Paid challenges: Ordinary realms are selected through Infinite City’s Secret Realm Pillar. Lu Ran pays 200 Crystal Coins and waits ten seconds to enter the repeatable Demon Cat Forest 30.
• Difficulty categories: The available challenge list uses easy, normal, hard, and abyss, with entry fees generally ranging from 100 to 1,000 Crystal Coins 9.
• Catalogue size: Lu Ran initially finds more than forty novice-level realms available to him 9.

Ratings and Drops

• Newbie grading: Rewards are determined by combat performance rather than survival alone 5.
• Challenge grading: Damage taken and efficiency in defeating the boss generally affect the rating. General Ha’s damage-free, highly efficient Demon Cat Forest clear earns an SSS 50.
• Permanent Eye of Data: An S-or-higher Newbie Trial rating grants the basic version. Unlike the temporary realm version, it cannot inspect other creatures and is limited to the user, their pet, and low-rarity items or resources 9 26.
• Beast-taming skill cards: Different realms have different drops. The training manual gives a 1% skill-card chance at an S rating in certain special realms 16.
