History

Rise of Human Cultivation

In the Primordial Era, demons dominated Heavenly Abyss Star, while humanity survived as a weak, dependent race. Some humans sought protection through blood sacrifices. Others developed cultivation methods, culminating in the Beast-Borrowing Cultivation Dao, which allowed humans to surpass their former rulers 1 30 309.

Human cultivators eventually overthrew the demons and established the Immortal Alliance’s civilization. The surviving ancient Demon Race was driven into the depths of the Earth Abyss, while beasts within Alliance territory became central to human cultivation 1 461.

The Array Great Fiend’s Invasion

An Extraterrestrial Great Fiend once attacked the Alliance using a planet-refining version of the Soul-Refining Array. He killed the serving Hall Master of World Affairs Hall, forcing the Lord of Pure Yang Grotto-Heaven to intervene. The fiend was destroyed, but the grotto-heaven lord suffered grave injuries. Afterward, the Alliance sealed knowledge of the array and classified Soul-Locking Stones as Class One prohibited goods 72.

Government and Institutions

Ruling Powers

Power Position within the Alliance
Five Great Grotto-Heavens Hold the Alliance’s leadership, establish its rules, and determine its overall course. They guard Immortal-Grade cultivation canons under the highest secrecy 45 363.
Thirteen Immortal Sects Major cultivation and educational powers situated within blessed lands. Their relations include frequent exchanges and inter-sect competitions 207 341.
Three Upper Immortal Sects Shangqing, Taiqing, and Jade Purity—the foremost of the Thirteen Immortal Sects. Their accumulated foundations predate the grotto-heavens’ present supremacy; together, they could potentially challenge a single grotto-heaven 299.
Seventy-Nine Upper Sects Part of the higher cultivation-education system. Admission to an Upper Sect or a higher-ranked institution is a major goal for Qi Refining students 115.
  • Void Refinement Dao Venerables and higher experts determine the Alliance’s strategic direction; Spirit Transformation Venerables constitute its visible upper leadership 355.
  • Nascent Soul True Lords belong to the middle and upper ranks and can hold regional administrative authority 390 416.
  • Grotto-heavens and immortal sects permit cross-institutional study. Such cooperation is credited with helping the Alliance produce its flourishing cultivation civilization 616.

Three Major Institutions

The Alliance’s principal institutions suppress demonic factions and provide administrative postings for sect cultivators 367 416.

Institution Documented responsibilities and offices
Law-Control Pavilion One of the Three Major Institutions; offers the office of Grand Academician to qualified Nascent Soul cultivators 367 416.
World Affairs Hall Offers Affairs Director postings. Its Heaven-Patrolling Department discovers other worlds, including the Cangyuan Realm 416 517.
Law Enforcement Bureau Investigates forbidden cultivation and Ancient Demon Cult cases. Its officers include Senior Censors and Supervising Censors 379 416.
  • External postings allow Nascent Soul cultivators to govern a commandery, temper their Dao hearts, and accumulate Alliance merits 416.
  • Officials who accept illicit cultivation resources risk removal and severe punishment; such corruption nevertheless recurs 416.

Territory and Infrastructure

Heavenly Abyss Star

  • Planetary formation: The Nine Heavens Star Constellation World-Suppressing Immortal Formation envelops Heavenly Abyss Star and locks down the power of its mountains, rivers, and earth veins 52.
  • Effect on formation arts: Earth formations are greatly weakened under its coverage. Heaven and human formations therefore dominate Alliance practice 52.
  • Earth Abyss bases: Fortified settlements support the continuing campaign against the ancient demons. Ten Thousand Layer Mountain City’s inner city houses an Alliance army garrison 450.
  • Spirit Clans and Half-Spirits: Demonic beast factions serving the Alliance are called Spirit Clans; half-demons are termed Half-Spirits. Several such communities live around Ten Thousand Layer Mountain 450.

Spiritual Energy Administration

  • Most of Heavenly Abyss Star’s Spirit Vigor has been brought under state control after tens of thousands of years of exploitation and development 3.
  • Cultivators normally purchase permission to construct cultivation rooms and pay monthly spiritual-energy fees 3.
  • Unauthorized absorption of wilderness spiritual energy is treated as theft and detected through Alliance formations 3.
  • Resource conservation also shapes technical policy: the leadership discourages wasteful earth formations and promotes companion-beast weapon transformation as an alternative to resource-intensive treasures 52 215.

Cultivation System

Cultivating the True through Borrowed Beasts

The Alliance’s mainstream path uses companion beasts as the means to cultivate oneself, improve aptitude, and pursue the Dao 30 212.

  • Shared advancement: Cultivators strengthen their beasts and receive cultivation and bloodline feedback in return 212.
  • Shared-perception scenery: Draws heaven-and-earth Dao resonance into cultivation, purifies beast bloodlines, and accelerates growth 212.
  • Observation release: Temporarily awakens latent bloodline powers and exclusive mystic abilities, producing combat strength beyond the beast’s ordinary realm 212.
  • Illusion resistance: Cultivator and beast retain independent perceptions despite their contractual link, allowing one to notice an illusion affecting the other and help break it 347.
  • Companion selection: Raising more beasts is not automatically beneficial. Excessive contracts can divide resources, muddle foundations, and scatter a cultivator’s efforts 342 360.

Beast Classification

Beasts within Alliance territory are classified by bloodline and potential cultivation ceiling 1.

Classification Corresponding Cultivator Realm
Variant Beast Qi Refining 1
Spirit Beast Foundation Establishment 1
Treasure Beast Golden Core 1
Mystical Beast Nascent Soul 1

Notable Methods

Method Function and restrictions
Ten Thousand Beasts Art Widely taught; nearly three in ten students practice it. Its Beast Mark grows stronger through four mastery stages and is reputed at Perfection to transform a companion’s bloodline and awaken a special physique 2.
Companion Beast Transformation into Weapon Allows beasts to substitute for natal Dharma Treasures and Profound Artifacts, reducing demand for cultivation ores 215.
Heaven-Stealing Pact of Shared Companionship and Shared Life A Nascent Soul-level secret art that links life wheels and draws upon a companion beast’s lifespan to extend the cultivator’s own. Its inheritance is restricted to the Thirteen Immortal Sects and Five Great Grotto-Heavens 244.
Nascent Elixir method Chen Beiwu’s proposed transitional realm between Foundation Establishment and Golden Core. Violet Firmament Venerable recognizes its potential to improve Core Formation and offers to submit it for the Alliance’s Special-Class Gold Award for Cultivation Progress 282 311.

Access to Advanced Knowledge

  • Immortal-Grade techniques point toward Void Refinement and Mahayana but cannot be purchased with Spirit Origin. Access generally requires exceptional patronage or entry into a grotto-heaven 45.
  • The official website sells techniques up to Heaven Grade, though their spiritual-root requirements sharply limit who can practice them 45.
  • High-level breakthrough secrets remain less accessible than ordinary lessons, even in a society where Golden Core cultivators livestream instruction 337.

Education and Social Mobility

Feature Details
Basic education Lasts fourteen years, followed by competitive admission to higher cultivation institutions 115.
Student beast support Public-school students who reach the Seventh Layer of Qi Refining before eighteen may apply to buy a Spirit Beast, including on credit 2.
Unified Retest An Alliance-wide higher-education admissions examination; one documented session begins on June 12, Year 24,523 170.
Final Test Uses recorded cultivator phantoms in the Strife Realm. Opponents match the candidate’s realm and respond to their use of artifacts and talismans 337.
Alternatives after examination failure Poorer students commonly enter basic employment; wealthy students can pay for specialized colleges. Other routes include military service and matchmaking 115 116.
  • Spirit Beast Loans are offered to encourage talented students and are distinguished from predatory Cultivation Loans 9.
  • Cultivation Loans compound principal and interest; debts can survive the borrower and burden descendants 9.
  • Cultivation clans retain advantages in resources, inherited aptitude, and access to information. Long-lived patriarchs can support descendants across many generations 336 337.
  • Chen Beiwu’s rise becomes an inspiration to ordinary cultivators who hope to cross those class barriers through talent and effort 516.

Economy and Resource Distribution

  • Official marketplace: The Immortal Alliance Official Website sells cultivation methods, pills, artifacts, formations, talismans, and materials 45 51.
  • Fortune requirements: Certain scarce goods require fortune as well as payment, including Foundation Establishment resources, Calamity-Breaking Golden Elixirs, and advanced Heaven-Grade technique chapters 51.
  • Taxation: Taxes on official-website purchases are included in listed prices; such purchases also contribute to the buyer’s fortune 51.
  • Beast-information bounties: Information about an unclaimed Earthly Sha Treasure Beast is worth at least ten Upper Grade Spirit Stones—equivalent to one hundred thousand Low-Grade Spirit Stones 1.
  • Combat-first reform: Preparations for war against another Great Thousand World shift resource distribution toward combat strength and military merit. Nascent Soul cultivators seeking Spirit Transformation resources are directed to earn contributions through star-conquering campaigns 430.

Law and Internal Problems

Prohibited Arts and Goods

Prohibition Reason or scope
Soul-Locking Stones Class One prohibited goods and indispensable materials for the forbidden Soul-Refining Array 72.
Soul-Refining Array Absorbs residual souls and Spirit Souls to increase its power; its knowledge was sealed after the Array Great Fiend’s attack 72.
Ancient Demon Cult methods Suspected practice can lead to arrest and investigation by the Law Enforcement Bureau 379.
Consciousness-preserving corpse-refining methods Forbidden within the Alliance, despite being relatively unremarkable in the Southern Wasteland 272.
Three-Grievance Nascent Soul-Annihilating Needle Prohibited from use on Heavenly Abyss Star, though collection, imitation research, and specified companion-beast absorption are permitted 475.

Corruption and Abuse

  • Some immortal-sect admissions personnel violate Alliance law through abduction, confinement, confiscation of communications devices, and unauthorized changes to applications 184.
  • At Ten Thousand Layer Mountain, Chen Beiwu uncovers officials harming Spirit Clans to obtain blood and materials for Blood Amber Orchids. The network involves the Pure Fire Bureau, Healing Bureau, and Garrison Envoy’s residence 450.
  • The Ancient Demon Cult recruits some of its Spirit Transformation leadership from Alliance-trained cultivators frustrated by stalled advancement or approaching death 671.

Military and Interworld Operations

Earth Abyss Campaign

  • The Alliance continues fighting the Earth Abyss’s Three Great Demon Kingdoms, suffering substantial annual casualties despite its dominance of Heavenly Abyss Star 116.
  • During a mist calamity, the Southern Abyss Deep Thirty-Six Division Desolate-Quelling Army is annihilated by Green Hill beast hordes. The formation includes at least three Nascent Soul True Lords, and a Fifth-Realm Demon Venerable is suspected of intervening 459.
  • Alliance leaders exploit divisions between Green Hill’s Hardline and Peace factions. The Peace Faction is required to kill corrupt Alliance cultivators connected to the hardliners 461.

World-Reclamation Strategy

  • Initial expeditions commonly use lower-level cultivators for reconnaissance, with ample compensation but potentially severe losses 371.
  • World capacity restricts which experts can enter. Some Middle Thousand Worlds also harbor beings approaching Half-Step Void Refinement, making premature deployment of senior forces dangerous 371.
  • The All-Stars Pivot registers returning explorers’ gains, as shown when Chen Beiwu brings back a creation origin beast egg 537.
World or Operation Alliance Involvement
Cangyuan Realm A Middle Thousand World discovered by the Heaven-Patrolling Department. Its early campaign has a reported eighty-percent death rate; later missions use a Two-World Gate and a merit system 371 517.
Great Sen World Alliance experts oversee extraction of world essence. Evergreen True Venerable also offers to seek permission for Xuele to refine the world 652 666.
Heavenly Ruins opening Great Luo Heaven opens this ancient source of Alliance methods to strengthen cultivators before the Two-World War 601.
Ancient Yao Realm The Alliance seeks conquest at minimal cost rather than accepting devastating losses to a leading power. The realm is ultimately destroyed by the Myriad Heavens Realm 694.
Emperor Sequence Middle Thousand World Guangcheng Dao Venerable assigns Chen Beiwu to survey and develop it, promising protection against higher-realm attackers 694.
