Background / History

Naming and Early Companionship

Chen Beiwu names the Five-Qi Vine Xuele, drawing on its snow-like markings, thieving nature, and attraction to beings possessing all Five Phases. Xuele accepts the name and immediately shows it off to the other companions, although Golden Egg’s claim that its own name sounds better briefly shakes Xuele’s confidence 394.

During Zhiling’s spatial-ability tests, Xuele is unexpectedly captured inside Heaven and Earth Within the End. Its indignation disappears when Zhiling asks it to tend nine fourth-tier profound medicines; Xuele then enthusiastically volunteers for further experiments 395.

Resource Gathering and Combat Support

After becoming a Demon King, Xuele uses its concealment and theft abilities against increasingly powerful opponents. It helps Chen Beiwu infiltrate Yunlong Market, then takes advantage of Iron Egg’s opening to steal Yun Xi’s right arm and its storage rings during the battle against the Soul Refining Sect 422 426.

Its resource-gathering duties extend beyond theft. Chen Beiwu entrusts it with nurturing a weakened Five Aggregates Fruit, while Exquisite True Lord later agrees to let it nourish fifth-tier origin medicines under supervision. Chen Beiwu explicitly warns that Xuele may steal some once they mature 438 503.

Xuele also contributes medicines to Aji’s bloodline restoration despite its reluctance to part with its collection. It subsequently uses the Five-Qi Origin Forest to restore enough of Aji’s Dao practice for the transformation attempt 513 514.

Bloodline Tribulation

While preparing for Demon Venerable, Xuele gains insights from cultivating the Five-Colored Vine. During the breakthrough itself, Chen Beiwu’s Fortune Edict Embryo helps it exceed the usual blood-tempering limit and complete twelve rounds 648 649.

The bloodline tribulation confronts Xuele with another Five-Qi Vine wielding overwhelming techniques. Xuele repeatedly attempts to flee or endure the punishment rather than fight. It ultimately survives the opponent’s Taiyi Heaven-Cutting Sword by relying on its recovery abilities and becoming part of the sword itself 649.

After awakening, Xuele uses the Origin-Returning Vine bloodline, Taiyi Heaven-Cutting Sword intent, and Five-Qi Origin Forest to forge an unprecedented Bloodline True Form. Chen Beiwu later considers several possible explanations for its sword talent, but does not establish a definitive origin 649 650.

Demon Venerable Activities

Xuele’s first major restorative feat after ascending is reviving Chen Qin from the Ice Coffin. The result is incomplete: although Xuele believes it has gathered her three souls, seven spirits, and Dao Foundation, she suffers memory loss and returns at Golden Core peak rather than Golden Core perfection 650 651.

During the Firecloud Palace trial, Xuele helps weaken the Fire-Origin Cloud Flame burning inside Chen Beiwu. Chen Beiwu subsequently draws on a companion divine weapon forged from Xuele’s body for his sword strike 668 669.

After reaching late-stage Demon Venerable, Xuele becomes the strongest of Chen Beiwu’s companions at that point. When Purple Palace Demon Venerable threatens Chen Beiwu, it immediately manifests its Taiyi Bloodline True Form, but restrains its strongest sword strike to avoid injuring its contracted cultivator 710 711.

Appearance

• Original form: A rounded, lotus-root-like vine body, with a small five-colored flower on its head and the Five-Qi Forest carried on its back 412.
• Demon King form: A slender vine body with lustrous white skin and barely perceptible spiritual down. Its flower becomes a dazzling Five Phases Flower Crown, while the forest takes the form of a green rainbow robe containing visible trees, flowers, vines, and spiritual plants 412.
• Feminine presentation: Xuele instinctively adjusts its appearance to Chen Beiwu’s tastes, but retains roughly seventy to eighty percent of its Five-Qi Vine characteristics. It has no immediate interest in the difficult process of taking full human form 412.
• Demon Venerable form: Its body becomes more elegant, and the flower crown transforms into a small emerald-green tree bearing five-colored fruits. Even an unhostile fruit is sharp enough to cut Chen Beiwu’s Primordial Myriad Tribulations Body on contact 649.
• Bloodline True Form: Within its origin meridian is an ancient, four-foot sword with a broad, thick blade and rust-mottled edges, strongly resembling the recorded Taiyi Sin-Slaying Sword 650.

Personality

Xuele’s principal interests are planting and theft. Rare medicines readily overcome its anger or caution, and it is happiest adding valuable plants to the Five-Qi Origin Forest. Parting with its collection visibly pains it, although it obeys when important matters—such as Aji’s restoration—take priority 395 438 513.

It is playful, proud, and eager for praise. It asks Chen Beiwu whether its transformed appearances look good, deliberately swallows the entire Thousand-Origin Pill in front of its disappointed companions, and proudly reports newly awakened abilities 412 455 649 710.

Despite its eventual sword prowess, Xuele is gentle by nature, dislikes fighting, and is comparatively reluctant to kill. It will confront an opponent who treats it as easy prey, but prefers safe advantages over evenly matched battles. After becoming a Demon Venerable, it refuses the Battle-Devouring Demon Ape’s challenge and imagines using its new powers to restrain targets before stealing their treasures 508 650 651 652.

Its caution does not prevent loyalty. Xuele helps heal companions, spends treasured resources on their advancement, and confronts the threat inside Chen Beiwu even while holding back to protect him 513 591 711.

• After reaching Demon King, Xuele can roughly specify the target area rather than stealing entirely at random 426.
• Removes Yun Xi’s right arm together with the storage rings on its fingers 426.
