An Intermediate Breeder's certification?
Vice President Liu?
Su Ping?
To Jin Sheng, these three names and terms had absolutely no connection. They were as unrelated as horses and cattle running in opposite directions.
Just ten minutes earlier, Su Ping had been amiably asking him about the Junior Breeder examination.
He hadn't even known how or where to get started as a Junior Breeder.
Yet ten minutes later, Jin Sheng was witnessing this scene.
He finally realized who this bald old man was.
Once, when he had gone to the Breeder Association for a class, this very man had been the lecturer.
He was one of Jianghai Province's few Senior Beast Tamers, as well as a specialist Breeder of wolf-type pet beasts.
Note: wolf-type, not Forest Wolves.
Forest Wolves weren't the only wolf-type pet beasts. Other relatively basic varieties included Sand Wolves, Snow Wolves, and more.
Needless to say, becoming a Senior Breeder specializing in wolf-type beasts was far more impressive than being an ordinary Senior Breeder.
Thus, this man was not only a Senior Breeder, but also the current vice president of the Breeder Association's Jianghai Province branch.
Calling him "a man of high standing and great power" in Jianghai Province was no exaggeration.
Back then, Jin Sheng had only attended one of his lectures for Junior Breeders, and seats in his classes weren't something just any Breeder could snatch up.
Yet now, this Vice President Liu, this Senior Breeder, had appeared here.
He had appeared before Su Ping, and what had he said?
He had come in person to present Su Ping with his Intermediate Breeder's certification?
Did that make any fucking sense?
For a moment, Jin Sheng was utterly lost.
He didn't know whether Su Ping's background was powerful enough to make Vice President Liu ignore the Breeder Association's rules and regulations outright, making an exception and letting him through the back door,
or whether this little brat Su Ping had been playing the pig to eat the tiger all this time.
Jin Sheng turned a resentful gaze toward Su Ping.
Su Ping instinctively looked back and saw Jin Sheng's aggrieved expression.
Of course, he understood why. Still, he smiled, then turned to Vice President Liu beside him and said:
"Elder Liu, this is Breeder Jin Sheng from the Breeder Association. Although he's a Junior Breeder, his grasp of theory is very solid. I learned a great deal from our conversation just now."
"Oh?"
Vice President Liu turned his smiling gaze toward the even more bewildered Jin Sheng. Jin Sheng immediately stood ramrod straight, his face flushing red with excitement, then bowed as stiffly as a wooden puppet:
"Hello, Teacher Liu. I attended your lecture at the beginning of the year, 'On Obedience in Wolf-Type Pet Beasts and the Breeder's Role as a Guiding Wolf King.'"
Vice President Liu's expression barely changed. He had given countless lectures. The Breeder Association regularly arranged classes for Junior Breeders taught by its practicing Intermediate Breeders and two vice presidents, and each lecture drew several hundred people, sometimes nearly a thousand.
Countless Breeders even came from other cities across Jianghai Province. How could he possibly remember them all?
Still, out of respect for Su Ping's introduction, Elder Liu made a show of looking Jin Sheng over, then nodded thoughtfully:
"I see. I do have some recollection of you. Not bad."
How many Junior Breeders in all of Linzhou City could earn a "not bad" from this man?
Jin Sheng instantly lit up, as though he had taken a shot of stimulants, and hurriedly replied:
"Yes. I'll keep working hard!"
Vice President Liu withdrew his gaze from Jin Sheng and looked back at Su Ping, continuing with a smile:
"I've delivered everything. Su Ping, you're now a registered Intermediate Forest Wolf Specialist Breeder with the Jianghai Province Breeder Association.
"Your breeding facility and information on Woodheart's specialized skill training have also been listed with the Breeder Association.
"That'll work far better than any advertisement. If you make money, kid, don't forget to treat this old man to a meal!
"Of course, I believe in your talent and ability. This isn't the finish line. Keep at it."
Su Ping nodded as well. "Thank you for your praise and help. I'll keep working hard too."
Naturally, Vice President Liu had no worries. "In that case, I still have a few things to take care of, so I won't linger with you young people. But when the time comes for that bet you made with young Sun, you must let me witness it. I'm looking forward to it!"
"Yes! Rest assured, I definitely won't forget to invite you as a witness."
Having received a satisfactory answer, Vice President Liu turned to Qin Xiaoxue, whose gaze and attention weren't on him at all, but on Xiao Qing, whom Su Ping had yet to put away, and said:
"Miss Qin, I'll be leaving, then."
Qin Xiaoxue waved somewhat impatiently, without even shifting her gaze.
Vice President Liu didn't mind. Smiling, he also nodded to Jin Sheng, then turned and left under the latter's flattered gaze.
Previously, Su Ping had struck him as young and brash. On this visit, however, Vice President Liu discovered that the youngster had a gentle, courteous, and humble side as well.
Good, very good.
At that moment, however, another person present was feeling nowhere near as lighthearted. Jin Sheng watched with mixed emotions as Su Ping opened the kraft paper envelope in his hands.
What came out of the envelope was none other than
a certificate bearing Su Ping's photograph and a blue badge representing the Breeder Association.
Blue, as opposed to his own white badge, signified an Intermediate Breeder.
It was also one of Jin Sheng's greatest dreams.
Yet right now, this brat was holding Jin Sheng's greatest dream in his hands, examining it while muttering rather discontentedly:
"That's it? Isn't this just made of ordinary metal? They couldn't even use some high-grade metal resource to make it? There's no sense of honor or ceremony at all!"
Watching this brat reap the benefits and still act as though he'd been shortchanged, Jin Sheng barely resisted the urge to punch him.
He couldn't even tell whether the fellow was showing off or genuinely complaining.
Still, this certificate and badge represented far too much.
So much that he no longer knew what to say to the young man who had been chatting so confidently with him just moments earlier.
Earlier, when Jin Sheng and Su Ping had been discussing Breeders, there had been no one else around them.
Even Zhou Shuchen had returned to the arena to battle some classmates he got along with.
Zhang Guowei hadn't paid much attention to what was happening over here either.
Thus, although quite a few people had seen a balding old man come over to Su Ping, few knew what had actually happened.
Except for two people.
They were none other than the twin brothers who had been waiting for their pet beasts to recover: Zhang Wen and Zhang Wu.
The Zhang brothers were Forest Wolf Beast Tamers themselves, so naturally, they could sense how powerful Xiao Qing and Little Dot were.
After hearing that Su Ping came from Woodheart next door, a facility specializing in Forest Wolf training, they had wanted to go there and take a look.
Later, however, after hearing Jin Sheng say that Su Ping wasn't even an ordinary Breeder, they had begun to doubt him.
Now, things had changed far too quickly. This old man who had appeared out of nowhere had said a whole jumble of other things. After all, the two of them were outsiders and hadn't felt comfortable getting too close to listen.
As a result, neither brother knew what to do now.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Zhang Wen came over to Jin Sheng and asked quietly:
"Um, sir, as a fellow Breeder, do you think Su Ping's breeding skills are good? My brother and I want to find a training facility to help our beasts improve, but we haven't decided on one yet."
The question snapped Jin Sheng out of his daze. Watching the young Beast Tamer's back as Qin Xiaoxue led him over to crouch together in front of that Mutant Forest Wolf and chat, Jin Sheng's gaze suddenly grew extremely complicated.
He recalled what Vice President Liu had just said.
Woodheart's Forest Wolf skill training?
No wonder Su Ping had managed to become an Intermediate Breeder.
And an Intermediate Breeder whose certification Vice President Liu had personally delivered, at that.
Jin Sheng knew all too well what Woodheart's skill represented.
If he, Jin Sheng, were a Breeder who had mastered the cultivation of the Red Fang Tiger's "Fireheart" skill, the Fire King Company would enshrine him like an honored ancestor!
Suddenly, looking at the Zhang brothers, who were asking with nervous curiosity, Jin Sheng finally said in a subdued voice:
"Him? He might be the best Forest Wolf Breeder in Linzhou, or even all of Jianghai Province."
