Background / History
Su Family Legacy
Woodheart’s extensive estate was retained through the achievements of Su Ping’s grandfather, a Monarch Rank Beast Tamer who died defending against a beast tide. The family also retained a large neighboring tract of land, which they rented out 1.
The base’s principal breeding legacy was the Forest Wolf Breeding and Training Manual and the Formula for the “Woodheart” Magic Potion. According to Su Anyong, the book represented his father’s lifelong research and was the reason the breeding base had survived. Its potion offered approximately a one-percent chance of awakening Woodheart, producing only a handful of successes over several decades 3.
Su Ping’s Takeover
Su Anyong invited his newly awakened son home to help make Woodheart a leading Forest Wolf breeding base, but departed for Beihan City before Su Ping arrived. He left his son in charge, with two months of food in the automatic feeders, Old Sha on site, and a first pet beast waiting in the incubation room 1.
Su Ping initially returned to investigate the Myriad Spirits Codex. After discovering that sustained contact and sufficient intimacy with beasts generated codex experience, he recognized the breeding base as a means of developing both the codex and his own abilities. He then used the codex to complete the family’s potion formula 3 4.
Commercial Breakthrough
Rather than sell the perfected potion, Su Ping advertised Forest Wolf boarding and training in the Linzhou Pet Beast Daily. Qin Xiaoxue became his first training customer, signing a contract to have her Forest Wolf, Wooden Head, learn Woodheart 12 15 16.
Wooden Head’s success was verified by Sun Chaoju and Vice President Liu, despite their initial disbelief. Liu subsequently delivered Su Ping’s Intermediate Forest Wolf Specialist Breeder certification and registered Woodheart’s services with the Breeder Association 22 37.
The association’s public announcement brought Woodheart widespread attention. Calls and visitors sought training, access to the cultivation method, or opportunities to recruit Su Ping. He raised his quoted price to five million, but inquiries continued 38 41.
Location & Facilities
- Forest grounds — Several square kilometers of woodland where the Forest Wolves rest, play, and train 1.
- Family residence — Living quarters within the estate; Su Ping finds the inherited breeding manual in Su Anyong’s room 1 3.
- Birthing and incubation room — Temperature- and humidity-controlled facilities where Su Anyong leaves Xiao Qing for Su Ping 1.
- Testing and monitoring rooms — Listed among the base’s existing facilities; Qin Xiaoxue also checks Wooden Head through a monitor during his stay 1 18.
- Potion workshop — Used to brew the improved Woodheart Potion, with refrigerated ingredient storage 4 5.
- Infirmary — Equipped for monitoring and emergency treatment during potion and poison-resource trials 13 43.
- Spirit Creek River frontage — The rear boundary adjoins the river, which flows through West Dragon Lake 1.
- Neighboring leased land — Yuntian Resort occupies land belonging to the Su family; Su Ping controls the relevant property decisions during his father’s absence 5 28.
Services & Business Model
| Service | Terms and scope |
|---|---|
| Forest Wolf boarding and breeding | Advertised as a way to develop the rare Woodheart skill in a short period 12. |
| Woodheart skill development | Qin Xiaoxue’s initial contract costs 3.5 million, with preliminary expenses and material costs waived if training fails 16. |
| Revised Woodheart pricing | Su Ping later quotes four million for successful training and a one-million material fee upon failure. The quoted price rises again to five million after demand increases 40 41. |
| Skill-proficiency training | Limited to Forest Wolf racial skills and Woodheart; Su Ping explicitly excludes other skills. He temporarily declines new proficiency-training jobs because of time constraints 24 40. |
| Sparring-beast rental | Sixteen Forest Wolves are rented to Yuntian, with Su Ping retaining the right to suspend rentals whenever necessary 28. |
| Accelerated Casting training | Announced as a future service; its price remains undecided 40. |
- Formula protection: Su Ping avoids selling the potion directly because it would be easy to reproduce. Boarding and training conceal the method behind a longer service process 12.
- Production cost: Ingredients for one batch of Woodheart Potion cost approximately 200,000 11 12.
- Customer visits: Wooden Head’s initial training is scheduled for about five days, with one visit permitted per day. Qin Xiaoxue may come immediately if her soul contract indicates danger 17.
- Expansion plans: Su Ping considers hiring assistants or establishing a production line so that customer work will not consume the time needed to train his own beasts 40.
Breeding Methods & Research
Perfected Woodheart Potion
The Myriad Spirits Codex identifies the inherited formula as incomplete. Su Ping spends 285 Forest Wolf Record experience points to complete it, adding Wolf Smoke Grass as the missing ingredient. He subsequently treats the perfected potion as having a one-hundred-percent chance of awakening Woodheart in Forest Wolves 3 4 9 12.
- Skill effects: Woodheart enhances the power, effectiveness, and casting speed of wood-element abilities, while allowing rapid recovery through absorbed wood-element energy 9.
- Preparation: The potion must cool into a gel before use; the inherited instructions specify at least six hours 3 6.
- Practical drawback: Brewing produces a strong foul smell, severe enough to drive Old Sha out of the workshop 6.
- Divided doses: Half- and quarter-portion administration still works. Su Ping adopts gradual feeding to make the process less conspicuous and harder for customers to reconstruct through their beasts 45 46.
Skill-Proficiency Training
When Su Ping’s Forest Wolf Record reaches LV2, it grants Connection Sharing (Forest Wolf). He uses its skill-training effects to broaden Woodheart’s services beyond potion-based awakening 19 20.
- Xiao Qing’s Sunlight Absorption reaches Proficient during a short training session 20.
- Wooden Head’s Self-Healing advances from Beginner to Proficient, fulfilling Su Ping’s wager to achieve the improvement within half a month 24 45.
- Training continues alongside regular feeding, waste removal, and potion rewards for the best-performing wolves 46.

Wolf Smoke Grass Experiments
- Reduced potion requirement: A wolf fed Wolf Smoke Grass awakens Woodheart after receiving only six-tenths of a potion over six days 46 47.
- Adverse effect: That test subject drops from Ordinary tier 8 to tier 7 and is identified by True Eye as weakened 47.
- Further testing: Laboratory mice show no notable response to Wolf Smoke Grass. Su Ping puts those experiments on hold 50.
Poison-Mutation Research
- Xiao Qing’s variant: Mutated Poison Woodheart strengthens both wood- and poison-type skills and permits poison-resource consumption to accelerate cultivation and skill development 14.
- Unresolved method: The codex offers analysis of the Forest Wolf poison-type bloodline mutation and its cultivation method for 49,990 experience points; Su Ping has not obtained it in the supplied chapters 43.
- Wolfbane aconite trial: Xiao Qing experiences temporary symptoms but no rank or skill change. The codex nevertheless reports improved poison-training results 43.

Spirit Creek River Incident
- A tiny figure appears within a spatial ripple near the boundary between Woodheart, Yuntian Resort, and Spirit Creek River, then vanishes. Old Sha notices something unusual in that direction 40.
- Old Sha continues accompanying Su Ping to the river during daily training 46.
- Su Ping later investigates at night with Old Sha and Xiao Qing. A snowy-white figure emerges from the river, prompting Old Sha to lunge at it 50.
