looking very much as though it were about to raise an army in rebellion, declaring that kings, nobles, generals, and ministers were not born to their stations.

He ignored Lord Bai's shocked, suspicious gaze and focused instead on an inconspicuous "minor figure."
Among the members of the Heavenly Tomb Unit, Zhu Linxin was indeed the most inconspicuous.
He was even the weakest.
That was clear from how, after entering the Soul Furnace, Zhu Linxin had been affected most severely by the Death Sword, his soul almost completely transformed into a Sword Soul.

it was still difficult to say what consequences awaited those members, or what would become of them.

had failed to bring Zhu Linxin and some of the others present back to their senses.
No, it was not quite that they had failed to come to their senses, because their gazes had remained firmly fixed on one thing.
That was Qianyi's pitch-black Death Sword. Apart from that, most sat blankly where they were. Without their comrades supporting them, they might well have been lying on the ground.
