The little girl, who had remained calm until now, finally showed panic on her face after the Chain Claw hooked her.
As she hurtled uncontrollably toward the Werewolf, she hurriedly used her remaining mana to form a Magic Shield around herself.
But the Werewolf kept swinging his blade without a care, a cold sneer even curling his lips.
The next second, they collided.
The Bone-Cleaver passed through the shield without resistance, severing her neck in a single stroke. Her head flew into the air...
"What the fuck?"
Mu You stared from a distance, dumbfounded.
He had been expecting some kind of reversal. After all those flashy moves, surely the little girl had another burst of power in her?
But no... she really had just been beheaded?
Watching the little girl player die right before his eyes, Mu You suddenly felt all the pressure shift onto him.
That raised the question: should he save her?
It had only just happened. If he pressed the Pocket Watch immediately and chose to intervene, he still had a chance to save the little girl.
But the price would be exposing himself to the Werewolf, and he would very likely draw the Werewolf's aggression onto himself. Then he, rather than the little girl, would be in the greatest danger.
If he did nothing, he could retreat safely without alerting the Werewolf.
But from then on, he would have one fewer potential ally and one more, even stronger enemy...
It was a difficult choice. More importantly, he had no time to hesitate, because the chance to save her would vanish in an instant.
Mu You's mind raced. After quickly weighing the pros and cons, he made his decision without hesitation: Save her!
For one thing, the little girl had already saved him once. Although that had happened in the previous timeline, if she had not intervened then, he would be the one lying beheaded now. Mu You had no reason to stand by and do nothing.
Besides, the Werewolf was only holding back against him because the more powerful little girl was keeping him occupied. If she died, Mu You would become his primary target, and the Werewolf would be free to focus all his strength on him!
Mu You did not believe he could beat the Werewolf at full strength as he was now.
So I have to save her!
Saving the little girl means saving myself!
All those thoughts flashed through his mind in an instant. Once he had decided, Mu You wasted no time and immediately pressed the Pocket Watch.
Time rewound, returning everything to five seconds earlier in the blink of an eye.
The little girl in the sky was just about to turn around, while the Werewolf on the ground had yet to throw the Chain Claw.
Mu You quickly cast Sure Shot on himself, then counted the seconds in his head. About a second later, he suddenly nocked an arrow, drew his bow, and fired at the little girl in midair!
Whoosh!
The little girl had already turned away. Hearing something cut through the air behind her, she sensed it and glanced back.
At the same time, a Chain Claw shot out of the dust below, striking at her like a venomous snake.
The little girl was horrified when she saw what was behind her. She instinctively tried to dodge, but her overtaxed body was no longer responding. She could not move.
Fortunately, the next instant, the arrow and the claw collided precisely in midair, each knocking the other aside.
The arrow fell and soon vanished, while the Chain Claw veered off course, scraped past the little girl, and retracted without catching anything!
"Roar!"
The Werewolf flew into a rage and whipped his head toward where the arrow had come from. He caught sight of an arm sticking out in midair, seemingly too slow to withdraw after firing, before it quickly vanished again.
"You again? You're asking for death!"
Enraged, the Werewolf's leg muscles swelled, and he sprang forward like a coiled spring, charging toward the spot where Mu You had disappeared with lightning speed.
He was certain his speed far exceeded a novice's. Even if his opponent could turn invisible, he could forget about escaping right under his nose.
Yet he had barely taken two steps...
Snap!
A trap snapped shut beneath his feet.
The Werewolf felt his foot sink as a tremendous force pinned him in place, leaving him unable to move.
Looking down, he saw a serrated animal trap clamped tightly around one leg. It was attached to a steel plate laid on the ground. To move, he would either have to free himself from the trap or drag the steel plate along with him.
"Bastard!"
The Werewolf immediately realized that his opponent had deliberately exposed that arm to lure him into giving chase, making him step into the trap set here in advance.
That realization only enraged the Werewolf further. He had actually been played by a rookie?
But thinking a crude trap alone could hold him was far too naive!
He only needed one slash to break this most basic of traps. How far could a novice run in the time it took him to swing once? As for that Invisibility Cloak, it was little more than a toy against his hearing and sense of smell.
The Werewolf immediately raised the Bone-Shattering Knife, ready to hack at the trap around his leg.
Just then, a small spear of fire came whistling down from high above, striking the Werewolf squarely on his raised right wrist.
Compared with the spell that had bombarded the Werewolf earlier, this fire spear had less than a tenth of its power. Yet its precise angle and timing let it hit exactly where it needed to!
Pain shot through the Werewolf's wrist, and his right hand instinctively loosened.
The Bone-Shattering Knife slipped from his grasp and fell to the side.
But the Werewolf reacted quickly. Recovering in an instant, he immediately reached for the hilt again.
Yet just as his fingers were about to touch it...
Whoosh!
Another arrow tore through the empty air ahead. This time, its target was not the Werewolf, but the hilt.
Clang!
With a crisp metallic ring, the arrowhead struck the blade.
The Bone-Shattering Knife was knocked away again, completely beyond the Werewolf's reach.
And because the Werewolf was already standing near the edge of the rooftop, the falling blade happened to strike the stone ledge, then bounced off the roof and disappeared into the night.
"How dare you!"
The Werewolf glared toward where the arrow had appeared, his eyes blazing with fury. Without a second thought, he hurled the Chain Claw in that direction.
Unfortunately, no matter how fast the Chain Claw was, it was doomed to fail against a game-breaking item like the Time Pocket Watch.
Mu You first stood still and let it hook him once. After confirming where the claw would land, he immediately rewound time, then rolled in the opposite direction and easily dodged it.
"You think you can escape?"
The Werewolf roared, then suddenly bent down and began hammering the trap frantically with both claws.
"Just you wait! Both of you are dying here tonight!"
Roaring wildly, the Werewolf battered the trap with several punches, forcibly smashing it out of shape until he finally broke free.
Although the trap had cost him a few seconds, his opponents were a useless girl with no mana and a rookie novice. The Werewolf was confident that if he truly wanted to chase them, neither could escape his grasp!
But when the Werewolf looked up with a sneer, ready to resume his pursuit, a series of gun bolts clicked in front of him.
"Freeze! Police!"
More than a dozen police officers swarmed through the open rooftop entrance, all aiming their guns at the Werewolf.
