The Werewolf froze at the sight of the line of police officers that had suddenly appeared ahead.

The invisible brat's scent had already vanished from the rooftop, and that little bitch in the sky was nowhere to be seen. He had no time to waste here!

The Werewolf bared his teeth, his eyes gleaming with murderous intent. Ignoring the police, he charged straight toward the rooftop exit.

"Open fire!"

The officer in charge gave the order without hesitation.

Bang, bang, bang...

All the officers fired at once.

Many of them had been too shocked to speak when they first saw the monster. Now that he was displaying such blatant aggression, anyone would have instinctively opened fire, even without an order.

A hail of bullets struck the Werewolf. They failed to penetrate his skin, but still hurt enough to make him howl in agony and stagger backward.

Under the barrage, the Werewolf knew he could not break through. He let out a frustrated roar, raised an arm to shield his eyes, then abruptly turned and took a running leap onto another rooftop more than ten meters away. He took another running start and leaped farther still, swiftly disappearing into the night.

Late that night, the conference room at the K City police station was brightly lit.

More than a dozen officers stood around a large screen, staring at the footage in speechless shock.

The screen showed the body camera footage recorded when they had all rushed onto the rooftop with their guns drawn.

In the footage, a half-human, half-wolf creature bared his teeth threateningly before charging at them. When the officers opened fire together, he turned and leaped onto another building, rapidly retreating until he vanished.

The entire clip was only twelve seconds long, but they had replayed it frame by frame for over an hour. Everyone had stood rooted to the spot watching for just as long, yet not a single one of their doubts had been resolved.

"Are the DNA results from the blood at the scene back yet?"

A square-faced officer with a cigarette dangling from his lips asked from the conference table.

"Yes, but we couldn't find any similar matches in the existing DNA database," a young officer beside him answered.

"As expected..."

The square-faced officer sighed.

He was Zhang Yang, the police chief in charge of investigating the serial murders-the same officer who had previously questioned Mu You at the Pet Shop.

Zhang Yang appeared relatively calm, but that was only for his colleagues' benefit. In truth, seeing such an inhuman creature with his own eyes for the first time had left him just as bewildered, doubtful, and horrified.

"What exactly... is this?" Zhang Yang frowned at the footage on the screen.

The evidence from the previous cases had led them to conclude that someone was "using a wolf to commit murder," and Zhang Yang had firmly believed that too.

Only now did he realize that they had all been on the wrong track from the very beginning.

But they could hardly be blamed. Before today, who could have imagined that such an inhuman creature existed?

As silence settled over the conference room, the door suddenly swung open, and five or six people in trench coats filed in.

"Who are you? Who let you in?"

Zhang Yang frowned and hurriedly pressed the remote, turning off the footage.

The young man at the front acted as though he had not noticed. He pulled an ID booklet from inside his coat and flashed it before everyone. "We're from the relevant authorities. From this moment on, we're taking over this case!"

He flashed the ID too quickly for the others to make it out. Zhang Yang's sharp eyes, however, caught a glimpse of the heading: Abnormal Investigation Bureau!

"Are you kidding? We've spent three months working our asses off on this case, and you think you can just take over because you say so?" Several young officers beside him immediately bristled with anger.

Zhang Yang quickly put out a hand to stop them, then looked up at the young man in the trench coat and forced a smile. "Gentlemen, you can take over, but I need to see written authorization from above. Otherwise, barging in like this and making demands puts me in a very difficult position..."

"These orders came from above. Someone will notify you shortly."

The young man spoke expressionlessly, then beckoned to his companions.

The others in trench coats walked farther into the conference room without waiting for permission and sat down in front of the large screen. Their leader picked up the remote from a nearby table and turned the screen back on.

The officers stared, dumbfounded. Even people taking over someone else's turf should not be this brazen about it.

The twelve-second clip soon finished playing. The young man worked the remote, repeatedly pausing on several frames, then looked at the others. "What do you think?"

"This Werewolf is pretty strong..." One of the trench-coated men rubbed his chin, his expression turning grave.

"He can stop bullets without taking damage. His stats put him at level six at least. No, probably level seven..." another analyzed.

"To beat a level-seven Werewolf into that state... that means there was at least one other player at the scene on his level..." Those words from another member left the group silent for a moment.

"What about the satellite?" the young man in charge asked.

"We checked. It was cloudy when the incident happened, so it didn't capture anything. Some kind of signal also interfered with all the nearby cameras. They recorded nothing..."

"Tch. No use counting on those, then..."

The young man curled his lip, got up, and walked over to Zhang Yang. His gaze swept over the officers. "Those of you who witnessed this will be temporarily transferred to the Abnormal Investigation Bureau to assist with our operations!"

"What?" The officers were all stunned.

"Gentlemen, isn't that a little inappropriate?" Zhang Yang could not help frowning either.

He could tell these people probably did have some special authority, but transferring them out of their posts with a single sentence was outrageous no matter how he looked at it.

Zhang Yang was about to say more when his phone suddenly rang.

He made an apologetic gesture and hurried aside to answer it. "Captain?"

"Zhang, do as they say." The very first words from the other end left him stunned.

"Are you serious?"

"I'll explain the details later. For now, comply with all their requests!"

At two in the morning, Mu You sneaked into the shop through the rear window of the pet bathing room.

The automatic litter box was installed in this room, and Cola was taking a dump in it.

The sudden landing of a human figure startled him so badly that he pinched it off mid-poop!

The moment Mu You entered, he saw a cat shoot out of the litter box, arch his back, puff up his fur, and hiss furiously at him.

Mu You froze. Before he could speak, Cola's body suddenly swelled before his eyes until he was the size of a tiger. At the same time, his amber eyes quietly turned blood-red. Three tomoe revolved in each eye, finally linking together into a kaleidoscope pattern.

At the same time, Cola's voice rang out in Mu You's mind. "Where did you come from, petty thief? I advise you to leave at once. Otherwise, today I, Uchiha Cola, will show you the power of Infinite Tsukuyomi..."

Mu You rolled his eyes, walked over, and smacked the stupid cat on the head. All the illusions instantly vanished.

"Have you gone stupid? Don't you recognize me?"

"Meow!"

The smack made Cola's fur bristle again, but he froze when he heard the familiar voice. Then he circled Mu You, sniffing, and soon looked astonished. "Mu You? What happened to you, meow? You reek of blood! This kitty couldn't even recognize you!" Cola hurriedly found an excuse for his blunder.

"It's not my blood. It's the blood on this knife."

Mu You grinned and took a Bone-Shattering Knife from his backpack.

It was the Werewolf's knife. When it had slipped from the Werewolf's grasp, Mu You had immediately fired another arrow, knocking it off the building.

Then, while the Werewolf was tangled up with the police, Mu You had hurried downstairs under invisibility, grabbed the knife, and run. What a damn rush!
