The lights in the workshop suddenly blinked, making River uneasy.
[River: Lier?]
[Lier: Shit, run! I'll guide you. Get the stuff out!]
[River: What happened?]
River was at a loss. If Lier had been caught, his communication signal shouldn't be this clear, this normal.
But why did Lier sound so urgent?
[Lier: Don't ask! Nobody knows you were here, and I haven't been exposed either. Hurry!]
[Lier: Oh, and trip the breaker on your way out!]
Since Lier had said so, River didn't have time to ask questions. He got up and headed for the Power Control Room, following Lier's instructions and pulling off a massive overclock!
Workshop 3 went dark in an instant. Strangely, no alarm went off at the police station.
The two hurried to meet in the surveillance room, then lowered their caps and casually walked past several colleagues.
Every time they passed one of their colleagues, their hearts pounded!
But nothing happened. Nothing happened until they got back in the car.
"Whew."
They both let out a breath.
[River: What exactly happened?]
[Lier: Your, uh, your department's storage server burned out. I could keep the alarm from going off, but it'll start smoking in a bit, so it's better to let the alarm sound.]
As soon as Lier sent the message, the NCPD station's alarms blared!
[River: ?]
River's mind filled with questions. You hacked our facilities. Shouldn't you be the one risking getting burned out?

[Lier: Anyway, it happened because of an operational error. But it's fine. I backed up some of the data that got burned.]
