The three were still driving a standard-issue Mackinaw supplied in bulk by the Aldecaldos--

The Legend Mackinaw was still waiting for parts for its modifications. The one they had used as a temporary replacement had been blown apart by Iron Hand, so Sherman had once again taken on the expense of reimbursing them.

They could get reimbursed so readily thanks to the Aldecaldos constantly buying cars. They had practically made him the company's top salesperson.

Cars filled the roadside, all of them durable secondhand vehicles. If their scanner's database was good enough, they could even spot obvious signs of modification.

Top mercenaries all had technical support teams. Even the toughest solo needed connections like that; otherwise, someone could tamper with their gear in the slightest way, and they'd be dead before they made a name for themselves.

Clearly, these cars had been brought in by mercenaries from out of town. They were all expendable.

If he could, Lier would've loved to take these cars apart and see which companies made the modification parts.

But the car windows were almost all covered with one-way film, so there was no way to see inside from the outside. For all they knew, the cars were packed with people.

That was just how technicians were. They'd find a dark corner where no one would notice them and quietly scan the things around them.

"Do you know how badass Weyland the Snake is? They say he rode a Cyberdolphin and chopped up a Soviet Petrochem submarine with a Monomolecular Katana. He's practically a demon-slaying god among men."

"Doesn't sound real." V shook her head repeatedly. "Have you even seen a dolphin? And you're saying he rode one? I think people are just making it up."

"What do you mean? Have you seen one?"

"I have!"
