When Lin Hao prepared to research ways to cultivate low-level insect eggs, he also called Professor Wang and the others over for their input.
Professor Wang had practically become a Zerg fanatic.
Even as he approached Lin Hao, he was still talking nonstop. "The Swarm is simply a perfect race. It's unbelievable that it can already mass-produce insect silk after such a short time.
"This insect silk, which retains only strength, has a tensile strength of 2 GPa, yet its density is only one-sixth that of steel. It's even stronger than spider silk!"
Back on Earth, spider silk had actually been quite strong too. The problem with it had always been mass production.
Biological evolution favored practicality. Being good enough was all that mattered.
The creature humans had altered most severely, to the point that it could no longer survive without them, was the domesticated silkworm.
That was the result of thousands of years of selective breeding and artificial intervention.
But the Zerg had long since reached an extreme on the evolutionary path. Selective breeding for the sake of the race came as easily as breathing.
Most production insects originally served the Swarm, though, so some adjustments were still needed for them to produce things humans required...
But once those adjustments were complete, their mass-production speed was truly beyond anything silkworms or spiders could match!
"As long as it's useful. I've obtained a batch of low-level insect eggs on the Antares Continent. I need to cut out some functions, so give me your thoughts..."
Lin Hao intended to hear these professionals' opinions.
"If we have a choice, I think we can remove their mobility entirely. Logging Insects can carry them when they need moving."
"If we have enough of them, a lower conversion efficiency won't matter. Maintaining quality is enough..."
