Arc 30Kallen Takes District Command

Kallen uncovered the truth behind an ancient dormitory imprint at Order University, then survived the rebel takeover of Maqina Sacred Land and defeated his pursuers. He returned to York City as district chief and prepared Neo to lead a militia expedition into the Desert.

  • Kallen gained the Academy Faction’s support for his promotion and proposed a Third Sequence Reserve Forces institution staffed by Order University teachers and students.
  • Xideluode brought Kallen to an abandoned dormitory, where a spiritual imprint let him join Wukongjia, Phileas, Budalas, and Dikalost in summoning the Spear of Eternity.
  • Michiōs explained how Wukongjia’s repeated searches for Kallen had strengthened the imprint, and Xideluode concealed Kallen’s involvement from investigators.
  • Kallen joined the Investigation Delegation to Maqina Sacred Land and escaped with Richard, Kangna, and Philomina after rebels seized the sacred land.
  • Kallen killed Dimoteli Suman, defeated and revived Dali Wenluo as a follower, and escaped Lango’s leverage after Dali Wenluo destroyed his formation’s central hub.
  • High Priest Norton approved Kallen’s reform plan and authorized intervention in the desert civil war, while Kallen brought the delegation’s survivors home.
  • Kallen succeeded Gaspol as district chief of the York City District after returning to Allen Manor and securing Neo’s help with military training.
  • Kallen supplied Neo with maps and intelligence for Desert raids, and Neo agreed to bring Earl Recar on the expedition.
Chapters 726–750 Vol. 8 Read

Ch. 726The Mad Pope's secret

Professor Xideluode taught Kallen how the God of Order inherited the work of the God of Light, then invited him home and explained his theory about the Mad Pope. He argued that the Mad Pope had understood Order deeply and had shouted that he did not believe in the God of Light because he was clear-minded and suffering.

  • Xideluode and Kallen discussed how humanity’s role in the Divine War raised its status and how the God of Order continued the God of Light’s reforms.
  • Kallen revealed that he was a minister, and Xideluode recognized him from the newspapers and invited him to lunch.
  • Kallen arrived at Xideluode’s home and discovered that his granddaughter was Gaspol, his district chief.
  • While Kallen cooked, Xideluode explained that the Mad Pope had studied at the Order University alongside Budalas and had never been an Order spy.
  • Xideluode said the Mad Pope had come to understand Order better than most Order Followers and believed the God of Light had chosen suicide to make way for a world without gods.
  • Xideluode concluded that the Mad Pope’s declaration that he did not believe in the God of Light reflected clear-minded suffering rather than madness.

Ch. 727Classroom experiment

Kallen attended a lesson on the Wall God Church and became the class’s test subject in a prophecy experiment, while Mavario struggled with his feelings for Gaspol and came to fetch Kallen for a drink. The experiment was interrupted when Mavario appeared, prompting the entire classroom to kneel and pay respects to the Divine Son.

  • Xideluode challenged Gaspol about her engagement to Mavario and urged her to spend time with him, then suggested she show him around campus; Kallen left for his afternoon class with Mavario.
  • Kallen and Mavario discussed attending dinner together to support Gaspol, and Mavario admitted he wanted a more ordinary life beyond his role as a Divine Son.
  • In class, Kallen read about the Wall God Church’s prophetic paintings and listened as the professor explained how believers could help bring their visions to pass.
  • The professor selected Kallen as the subject of a demonstration, and a puppet imbued with the Wall God’s aura began painting a prophecy that showed Kallen bowing at the classroom door.
  • After cutting his finger to comfort Gaspol, Mavario arrived at Kallen’s classroom and asked him to come drinking; the professor recognized him, and the teachers and students knelt to pay their respects.

Ch. 728District Chief Kallen!

Kallen attended a lecture with Mavario, who confided in him about his growing relationship with Gaspol, before meeting Dean Jax and the Academy Faction. At a gathering of influential church figures, they welcomed Kallen and arranged to support his nomination as the new district chief.

  • Kallen shattered the gem in the skeleton's brow, ending the Wall God Church prophecy's effect, then returned to class with Mavario.
  • Mavario told Kallen about finding Gaspol washing dishes and wondered whether her actions showed she was responding to his feelings.
  • Mavario and Gaspol argued by the pool over work, marriage, and whether they could build a family life together.
  • Xideluode told Iniflei that her granddaughter's marriage to Mavario could become unhappy, warning that Mavario's immaturity and status made divorce impossible.
  • Kallen entered an Academy Faction gathering with Dean Jax and met dozens of members, including senior figures who offered to support his advancement.
  • Andilao agreed to handle Kallen's nomination as district chief, while Pare called him District Chief Kallen.

Ch. 729Kallen's radical plan

Kallen pitched an ambitious plan to create a district-level Third Sequence Reserve Forces institution that would expand Order University’s and the Whip of Order’s influence, while the Academy Faction’s leaders considered the risks. After dinner, Kallen helped Mavario and Gaspol confront their strained relationship, leaving Mavario delighted when Gaspol angrily told him to get lost.

  • Kallen proposed that York City District establish a broad Third Sequence Reserve Forces institution staffed by Order University teachers and students, with departments that could strengthen the Whip of Order and require new equipment.
  • Jack's, Andilao, and Parre considered the plan’s benefits and risks, and Andilao suggested having Gaspol submit it before leaving office to share responsibility.
  • Kallen visited Xideluode, discussed Mavario and Gaspol’s relationship, and accepted copies of the Mad Pope’s writings and access to his old dorm room as supplementary lessons.
  • After Mavario and Gaspol returned from their disastrous date, Kallen told Mavario to confront Andilao and then helped him frame his conflict with Gaspol in terms of fairness and effort.
  • Mavario returned after breaking Andilao’s arm and leg, then tried to teach Gaspol a lesson; Gaspol told him to get lost, and Mavario laughed with delight.

Ch. 730The eerie Outstanding Figures' Dormitory

Kallen and Xideluode explored an abandoned dormitory and uncovered a spiritual imprint showing the student days of four future figures: Budalas, Wukongjia, Dikalost, and Phileas. The scene became vivid around Kallen, and Wukongjia noticed him and asked whether he had come from the neighboring room to mooch a meal.

  • Kallen returned to the guesthouse, where Little Kangna eyed the giant crab and argued with him about whether it should be grilled or steamed.
  • Kallen attended Xideluode's History of the Gods Philosophy class, and they shared tea while the sleeping students waited for the bell.
  • Xideluode led Kallen to an abandoned dormitory, where he showed him the belongings of Budalas, Wukongjia, Dikalost, and the Mad Pope, Phileas.
  • Xideluode explained that a mysterious leak had once occurred in the dormitory and that Wukongjia had repeatedly returned to erase records of it.
  • Kallen triggered the dormitory's spiritual imprint and watched the four students relive an argument about church politics and a stolen washbasin.
  • Wukongjia spotted Kallen in the memory and asked if he had come from next door to mooch a meal.

Ch. 731The big shots in their youth

Kallen discovered that Wukongjia could see and interact with him inside the Spiritual Imprint, then joined the young Wukongjia, Phileas, Budalas, and Dikalost as they shared a meal and planned a reckless attempt to reach the Sealed Space. After Kallen offered to provide an anchor point, the group raised another toast, leaving him with the uncanny feeling that they were all still alive.

  • Kallen confirmed that Wukongjia could see and speak to him, and suspected the Temple Elder was still alive rather than merely appearing in a recorded memory.
  • Kallen joined Wukongjia, Phileas, Budalas, and Dikalost in preparing and eating a stolen Five-Colored Fire Turkey, then discussed politics and their plans for the future.
  • Kallen noticed that his awareness could affect the Spiritual Imprint scene and spoke with Budalas about the dangers of unchecked power and the Church of Light.
  • Wukongjia and Dikalost proposed summoning a divine artifact from the Sealed Space, but they lacked an anchor point to reach it.
  • Kallen offered to place an anchor point inside the Sealed Space, and Wukongjia, Phileas, Dikalost, and Budalas agreed to prepare for the attempt.
  • The group raised their glasses again, and Kallen wondered whether they all still lived.

Ch. 732The Beginning of the Leak!

Kallen discovered that the dormitory scene required his soul power to sustain, then waited for Wukongjia and the others to return and finish preparing an altar. Using its detection formation, he called to Loya in the Sealed Space, but Mills Goddess's Harp's Artifact Spirit appeared and did not recognize either of them.

  • Kallen found that he could not leave the dormitory scene without crossing into reality, and he stayed behind while the Mad Pope and Budalas gathered altar materials.
  • After Wukongjia left, Kallen began turning transparent as the scene drained his soul power, so he wrapped himself in a low-consumption state until Wukongjia returned.
  • Wukongjia brought back the altar blueprint after meeting a woman in the room, and the Mad Pope and Budalas helped him set up the altar while Kallen assisted with the formations.
  • Dikalost returned with a giant crab claw, and after the group ate, Kallen used the detection formation to call for Loya.
  • Loya heard Kallen faintly in her sleep, and Mills Goddess's Harp's Artifact Spirit was drawn into an illusory scene where she asked Kallen who he was and who Loya was.

Ch. 733The God of Order's plan!

Kallen placed Raniedal’s coordinates inside the Sealed Space and returned to the dorm room, where Phileas, Dikalost, Budalas, and Wukongjia began searching its deepest layers for a Divine Artifact. They drew out the Spear of Eternity, whose Artifact Spirit recognized Kallen and claimed the God of Order had banished a serious problem into the future.

  • Kallen met the Mills Goddess’s Artifact Spirit in the ancient Sealed Space, gave her Raniedal’s coordinates, and returned to the dorm room.
  • Kallen told the four young men that he had succeeded, and Phileas reassured him while Dikalost prepared the altar.
  • Phileas empowered the altar with Light incantations, while Dikalost and Budalas analyzed and broke through the Sealed Space’s layers.
  • Wukongjia reached into the altar and pulled out the Spear of Eternity, which froze the five men and enveloped the Dormitory Building in a blue halo.
  • The Spear of Eternity’s Artifact Spirit approached Kallen and said the God of Order had solved a serious problem by banishing it into the future.

Ch. 734The sealed epoch

Kallen learned that the God of Order had sent Hunger Addiction into the future with him, and discovered that the Spear of Eternity’s artifact spirit, Michiōs, could see the presence within his soul. Michiōs explained Kallen’s connection to an ancient memory and let him leave, then celebrated the possibility that Kallen might become the next God of Order and reopen the sealed epoch.

  • Michiōs searched Kallen’s soul, but Hunger Addiction’s sculpture seized and burned his gaze before he could escape.
  • Michiōs introduced himself, released Kallen from his restraint, and explained that Kallen had not been present in the original event a thousand years earlier.
  • Michiōs told Kallen that Wukongjia had lived on as a special artifact spirit after reuniting with the divine artifact spirit he loved.
  • Michiōs explained that Wukongjia had repeatedly returned to the dormitory seeking traces of Kallen, unknowingly strengthening the spiritual imprint that drew Kallen into the experience.
  • Kallen left the Dormitory Building, and Michiōs promised to help him if they met again.
  • After Kallen vanished, Michiōs celebrated the possibility that Kallen would become a god and open the epoch sealed by the previous God of Order.

Ch. 735A reason

Kallen returned from the Dormitory Building after encountering Michiōs and began to suspect his growth could serve the interests of a hidden group. After discovering that Xideluode had reported his screening under a false name, Kallen confronted him and learned why he had taken over the long-running investigation.

  • Kallen left the Dormitory Building and told Xideluode he had heard the door and screams before briefly losing consciousness.
  • Xideluode secretly reported that the screening had produced no results and registered Kallen as Mases Kuonova, a student from Loriel District.
  • Kallen returned to Xideluode’s apartment and asked him to sign his class schedule, revealing that he had overheard the report.
  • Xideluode admitted he had helped conceal Kallen’s identity and joked about Kallen fabricating a suicide note for him.
  • Xideluode explained that he had inherited the investigation from his father-in-law and continued it so his divorced wife would not have to.

Ch. 736A huge surprise for the Investigation Delegation!

Kallen met Xideluode and offered to arrange an interview with the Mad Pope’s successor, then traveled with Little Kangna and Philomina to join the Investigation Delegation. The delegation arrived at the Maqina Sacred Land and discovered it was under attack by rebels.

  • Kallen trusted Xideluode with the secret and promised to arrange a meeting with the Mad Pope’s successor.
  • Kallen, Little Kangna, and Philomina ate at the guesthouse, where Yingdeman recognized Kallen and served Little Kangna crab meat.
  • Kallen met Richard at a hotel and rested before joining the Investigation Delegation the next morning.
  • Kallen learned he led a team of seven Whip of Order ministers, then departed with the delegation after their schedule was abruptly changed.
  • The delegation arrived at the Maqina Sacred Land and heard desert clerics shout that rebels had broken into the sacred land.

Ch. 737Arrogance and stupidity

Kallen tried to prepare for the rebels’ capture of Maqina Sacred Land while Deputy Knight Commander Yamrek kept the Order delegation passive. After the rebels surrounded the teleportation hall, they burned the Order clerics sent to demand courtesy, leaving the delegation’s safety uncertain.

  • The Order delegation’s leaders argued over whether to break out or wait for the rebels, and most supported Yamrek’s plan to stay.
  • Kallen urged Yamrek to establish a perimeter, but Yamrek refused until Ze’an warned that the rebels might attack the hall without knowing who was inside.
  • Ze’an persuaded Yamrek to send Kallen and a small group outside to establish a perimeter and communicate the delegation’s identity by crow messages.
  • Kallen’s sentries watched the rebels take control of Maqina Sacred Land as orthodox clerics surrendered and resistance collapsed.
  • The rebels surrounded the teleportation hall, and five Order clerics went out to demand that the rebels’ representatives pay their respects.
  • A Desert Camel Walker spewed fire and burned the five clerics to ashes.

Ch. 738The headhunting game

Kallen and his team escaped the Maqina Sacred Land after the desert rebels attacked, then split up to lure and ambush the church envoys pursuing them. Kallen confronted Dimoteli Suman alone, and their fight was about to begin.

  • Kallen led Richard, Kangna, and Philomina in a breakout, drawing the Sandhawks away and signaling the other sentry posts to escape.
  • Kangna transformed into a Bone Dragon and smashed through a conjured desert wall, carrying the group beyond the Sacred Land.
  • Richard used his intelligence research to direct them toward a Whip of Order secret post, but sensed several pursuers gaining on them.
  • Kallen ordered Richard and Kangna to act as bait while he and Philomina left the Bone Dragon to ambush isolated pursuers.
  • Lango slowed his pursuit after divination warned him of danger, hoping the other pursuers would encounter Kallen first.
  • Kallen faced Dimoteli Suman, rejected her offer to spare him in exchange for sleeping with her, and drew the Diamans Sword.

Ch. 739The First Head

Kallen fought Dimoteli in the desert, defeating her after a prolonged contest of spell arts and close combat. He severed her head and hung it from his waist, then looked toward his next target.

  • Dimoteli prepared her defenses and attacked Kallen with layered Night Goddess spell arts while Kallen matched her power with summoned stone pillars.
  • Kallen sensed Lango and Dali Wenluo watching from the perimeter, then drew Dimoteli into a close-range fight with concealed Chains of Order and resisted her mental assault.
  • Kallen passed through Dimoteli’s forbidden insect pollution and struck her with his sword, while his prepared formations pulled him to safety before the explosion.
  • The spell arts’ clash ended in Kallen’s favor, leaving Dimoteli severely injured beneath scorched sand.
  • Kallen refused Dimoteli’s plea for mercy, severed her head, and declared that he would face the next opponent.

Ch. 740Bastard of Life

Kallen defeated Dimoteli and approached Dali Wenluo, a Life Order God Church cleric who admired Kallen and wanted to wear his skin. After exchanging polite greetings, they prepared to fight, each misunderstanding the other's offer and apology.

  • Kallen suppressed the Hunger Addiction, left the fleeing presence alone, and went after Dali Wenluo, carrying Dimoteli's head at his waist.
  • Dali Wenluo remembered his abusive childhood, his mother's murder, and how he had come to envy Kallen's public image and propriety.
  • Dali Wenluo told Kallen he collected his photographs and wanted to skin him, while Kallen discovered that Richard had arranged the letters supposedly answered in Kallen's name.
  • Kallen offered to spare Dali Wenluo if he stayed out of what came next, but Dali said he intended to kill Kallen and take his skin.
  • Kallen clarified that he only wanted to avoid the inconvenience of carrying a bald head, and Dali apologized in imitation of Kallen's polite manner.

Ch. 741A new Knight of Order!

Kallen defeated Dali Wenluo by anchoring himself with Chains of Order and withstanding his increasingly powerful attacks. As Dali died after delivering his final blow, Kallen offered him a complete second life, and Dali accepted by saying he would take Kallen’s surname.

  • Dali Wenluo attacked Kallen with a wooden club that grew stronger and faster, while Kallen dodged and studied his fighting style.
  • Kallen used twelve Chains of Order to anchor himself and turn aside Dali Wenluo’s powerful strikes, then multiplied the chains to withstand Dali’s tree-sized weapon and leave him badly wounded.
  • Dali Wenluo refused to flee, explaining that he wanted to uphold the life he believed in and show Kallen life’s end with a final attack.
  • Dali Wenluo’s Withered Wood shattered Kallen’s defenses and knocked away his Greatsword, but its power faded before it could seriously harm him.
  • Kallen’s Diamans Sword pierced Dali Wenluo, who moved his final splinter aside rather than damage Kallen’s appearance and admitted he could not defeat him.
  • Kallen offered Dali Wenluo a complete second life, and Dali said he would take Kallen’s surname before he died.

Ch. 742I've switched sides!

Kallen used Order-Awakening to revive Dali Wenluo, whose memories revealed the abuse and despair he had endured before his death. Dali Wenluo accepted Kallen as the God of Order, switched allegiance, and set out to help hunt the other young clerics pursuing Kallen.

  • Kallen used the Chain of Order to read Dali Wenluo's memories and saw how Dali had suffered his mother's abuse while still hoping to improve her life.
  • Dali Wenluo revealed that he had killed his mother after she again planned to take him to the manor gates, then argued with Kallen about whether he was truly dead.
  • Kallen revived Dali Wenluo with Order-Awakening and replenished his life energy, convincing him that the awakening was real and different from the usual method.
  • Kallen offered Dali Wenluo a place among his followers and the chance to become one of the 12 Order Knights, and Dali agreed to betray the Life Order God Church.
  • Kallen named him Dali Wenluo Tu and ordered him to find the clerics hunting Kallen and help eliminate them, while warning him not to fight alone.
  • Dali Wenluo left to find the hunters, then stopped to slap himself and marvel at his new life before declaring that he had switched sides.

Ch. 743If you can't beat them, join them

Dali Wenluo killed Suofuleiya after she tried to steal his sapling, then set out to test the other delegates. Kallen confronted Lango, who had been tracking the group, and Lango offered to join him rather than fight.

  • Lango watched the delegates’ markers on his turtle shell and realized that Dali Wenluo, whom he thought dead, was moving toward him, so he kept his distance.
  • Suofuleiya found the wounded Dali Wenluo and tried to kill him for his sapling, but the sapling burst from the sand and pierced her.
  • Dali Wenluo drained Suofuleiya’s vitality to restore the sapling, then killed her and tied her head to his belt before leaving to test the other delegates.
  • Lango found Suofuleiya’s corpse, and Kallen appeared behind him, explaining that puppet magic had fooled Lango’s tracking senses.
  • Kallen challenged Lango with the Diamans Sword, and Lango drew his scimitars before proposing that he join Kallen instead.

Ch. 744Closing the net!

Kallen and Lango agreed to cooperate in exchange for a personal favor, while Kallen and Philomina killed three pursuers and collected their heads. Lango lured the remaining Observation Delegation members into a Reincarnation Formation, but Dali Wenluo arrived without a soul, thwarting Lango’s plan to learn what deal he had made with Kallen.

  • Lango offered to help Kallen kill members of the Observation Delegation, and Kallen agreed to owe him a favor.
  • Philomina killed Hosed Wade and the Earth God Church believer who had ambushed her, while Kallen helped defeat the second attacker.
  • Kallen scolded Philomina for risking herself and sent her to deliver the heads and spoils to Richard.
  • Kallen received Lango’s message that the trap was ready, then sent Dali Wenluo a warning to watch out for Lango.
  • Lango gathered the remaining Observation Delegation members inside a Desert Ground Crack, intending to bind their souls with a Reincarnation Formation.
  • Dali Wenluo entered the Ground Crack despite Lango’s trap, revealing in his thoughts that he had no soul.

Ch. 745A declaration of war!

Kallen and Dali Wenluo survived Lango’s attempt to trap them, while the Desert Rebels’ advances left the Desert Order God Church close to collapse. At the Church headquarters, High Priest Norton approved reforms and formally declared the Order God Church’s intervention in the desert civil war.

  • Richard shared roasted Sand Wolf meat with Little Kangna and Philomina, and the group prepared to rest while Little Jerry kept watch.
  • Lango activated a formation that imprisoned the young pursuers’ souls, then tried to decide whether to seize Kallen’s body as he revealed that three Desert sacred lands had fallen to the rebels.
  • Dali Wenluo destroyed the formation’s central hub, freeing Kallen from Lango’s leverage; Kallen let Lango leave, and Dali Wenluo agreed to travel with him.
  • Kallen and his companions gathered the heads of their defeated pursuers and contacted the Whip of Order, while High Priest Norton reassigned officials responsible for the desert affairs and approved Fudeng’s plan to rebuild the intelligence network.
  • High Priest Norton authorized Kallen’s radical reform plan and declared that the Order God Church would intervene in the desert civil war to use the conflict to train its troops.

Ch. 746Going home!

Kallen left Desert with the surviving investigation delegation, completed the handover in Dinge District, and met privately with the Whip Bearer before heading back to York City District. He told Little Kangna that their arrival there would mean they were already home.

  • Kallen rejected Denemir’s offer to leave Desert with him and discussed Dali Wenluo’s recovery and sparring with Philomina.
  • Richard told Kallen that the investigation delegation had been recalled, and Kallen led the survivors through the Teleportation Magic Formation as Order’s forces entered Desert.
  • In Dinge District, Kallen completed the delegation’s paperwork and signed the lists of those who had died on duty.
  • Andilao took Kallen to meet the Whip Bearer, who summoned him alone but offered no direct praise or instructions.
  • Kallen left for the teleportation magic formation and told Little Kangna that York City District was now their home.

Ch. 747A place in the mural

Kallen returned to York City quietly and met with Byrne, who confirmed the handover of York City District and urged him to make a new department the center of its administration. After reaching Allen Manor, Kallen rested while Alfred and Dali Wenluo went to meet Neo, whose wagered challenge hinted at a place for him in Alfred’s mural.

  • Kallen returned to York City in secret, then Byrne told him Gaspol had resigned and that he would take over as District Chief after the handover procedures were complete.
  • Kallen and Byrne discussed making the new department the mainstay of the district’s government, with Byrne offering to draft an implementation plan alongside him.
  • Alfred drove Kallen to Allen Manor, where Kallen learned that Neo had returned and offered to make him Deputy Knight Commander of a militia regiment if he wanted to join.
  • Kallen went to rest while Alfred and Dali Wenluo left to meet Neo, who had come to the Manor after losing his vouchers again.
  • Alfred lent Neo his personal savings and asked him to humble Dali Wenluo; the two headed to a clearing to fight, while Alfred mused about placing him second in the mural.

Ch. 748Neo, come back and help me

Alfred arranged for Neo to test the newcomer Dali Wenluo, and Neo defeated him before Alfred threatened to make him study in the stable. Neo then visited Kallen, who recruited him to train people for a future expedition to the Desert Battlefield, while Alfred recorded Kallen’s trust and tolerance.

  • Alfred concealed Allen Manor with its Defensive Formation and let Neo handle Dali Wenluo’s challenge.
  • Neo survived Dali Wenluo’s opening attack, threatened him with a blood strike, then overwhelmed him with the Armor of Light and left him incapacitated.
  • Alfred decided to put Dali Wenluo in the stable to recover and promised to teach him there, while Dali Wenluo begged for forgiveness.
  • Neo visited Kallen and discussed his purple hair, Mr. Luther, Kallen’s appointment as District Chief, and a possible crackdown on the Black Market.
  • Kallen asked Neo to train people for an expedition to the Desert Battlefield, and Neo agreed after asking to smoke in Kallen’s bedroom.
  • Alfred listened at the bedroom door and wrote that Kallen had granted him great trust and shown the Light great tolerance.

Ch. 749District Chief, Kallen!

Kallen completed a successful teleportation test at Allen Manor, then visited Gaspol before the handover ceremony that made him district chief of the Order God Church’s York City District. The chapter ended with Kallen taking the stage as the clerics pledged themselves to Order.

  • Kallen used teleportation runes to bring Old Saman and Dali Wenluo to the hill, and Old Saman asked to keep researching the array with Kevin at the manor.
  • Puer, Old Saman, Kevin, and Little Kangna stayed at Allen Manor to handle the ancestral cemetery, formation research, and Eunice’s training while Kallen returned to York City.
  • Kallen visited Gaspol and Mavario before the ceremony, where Gaspol admitted she felt wronged and Mavario comforted her.
  • At the handover ceremony, Gaspol gave her farewell speech and Kallen was appointed district chief of the York City District.
  • Kallen took the stage and said, “Wield the whip,” as the clerics, including Gaspol, answered, “For Order!”

Ch. 750Neo's bandit gang!

Kallen managed York City District’s work while arranging for Neo to lead a militia regiment into the Desert and fund his reforms through raids and the recovery of relics. Neo agreed to take Earl Recar and possibly Puer, whose surgery could let her briefly become human, though Kallen did not want her exposed to the battlefield.

  • Kallen read his report in the Whip of Order’s internal publication and learned that Andilao had ordered every district to study it.
  • Kallen reviewed intelligence about the Church’s campaign in the Desert and reflected on how he had narrowly escaped capture by the desert rebels.
  • Kallen met Chief Bishop Byrne at Neo’s training ground, where Byrne approved Neo’s appointment to command the militia regiment.
  • Kallen gave Neo maps and intelligence to support raids on protected sites and enemy supply networks in the Desert and surrounding regions.
  • Neo agreed to bring Earl Recar on the expedition, while Kallen considered whether Puer’s surgery would allow her to join him.
