Brains Matter
Feeling a wind blowing from behind, carrying the smell of blood and burnt flesh, Lumian nimbly turned and entered the alley leading to Nightingale Street.
The Werewolf, whose Pitch-Black Eyes were bloodshot, was overwhelmed by anger and a bloodlust stemming from his severe injuries. He twisted his body and sprinted into the alley.
He saw Lumian leap lightly over the Barricades blocking his path, and then he too took flight.
The next second, what came into his view was an uncovered Sewer entrance, with Iron-Black steps leading vertically into the Depths.
Lumian stepped precisely on the edge of the Sewer entrance and leaped cleanly over the "natural" trap.
Bang! The Werewolf crashed into the Sewer, sinking halfway in. His wounds reopened, and he felt dizzy.
Taking advantage of the moment, Lumian turned around and conjured up several crimson Fire Raven, which circled and flew toward the enemy blocking the Sewer entrance.
With a rumbling sound, crimson Flames covered the area, igniting gray feathers, scorching patches of skin, Crow tearing apart more flesh.
The Werewolf pushed off with both hands and finally jumped out of the Sewer, while Lumian, having landed a successful blow, fled again.
The Werewolf grew even angrier, wanting nothing more than to tear the bastard to pieces and throw his entrails to a passing stray dog.
With a whoosh, Lumian sped to the alley exit and turned sharply to the left.
The "Werewolf" caught up in a few steps, then spun around in the direction its target had fled.
But Barricades nearly a meter high appeared in the darkness in front of him. Lumian, who was prepared, reached out and pressed it down, then tumbled and jumped over Past.
The Werewolf discovered it too late; there was no time to adopt other strategies or tactics. It could only choose between hastily jumping and crashing straight into the werewolf.
He strained his legs, trying to jump directly to the top of the Barricades, but his momentum was too strong, and before his body was fully elevated, his feet hooked onto the obstacle.
Thump!
The "Werewolf" fell off the Barricades, seeing stars.
Lumian stopped running again, put one hand in his pocket, and looked at the enemy.
A new wave of Fire Raven gathered around him and swooped down towards the Barricades.
The Werewolf rolled with all his might, but was still hit by at least ten Flames Crow. The wound on his abdomen, which had been sealed by his hand, reopened, and his Blood-Colored intestines spilled out.
Only then did the "Werewolf" realize that he had fallen into the other party's trap, regain some of his Rationality, and feel the weakness in his body and the instability of his condition.
He extinguished the Flames on his body, struggled to his feet, and tried to escape.
Just then, he heard Lumian's sarcastic voice:
Didn't your mother tell you not to fight in an environment familiar to a ' Hunter '?
"You actually dared to chase me down in the Messy Street and surrounding area. It just goes to show that brains are important, but you don't have any."
The Werewolf's mind went blank for a moment, and he became extremely angry.
He willingly sacrificed his Rationality, unleashed his desires, and enhanced his body in every way.
He's gone Madman!
He chased after Lumian once again.
Lumian would sometimes stop abruptly to launch a counterattack, sometimes slip under the arms of Stone Statues extending from around the corner, and when the "Werewolf" crashed into an obstacle, he would turn around and unleash a volley of Crimson Fire Raven crows. Sometimes he would make a gesture as if he were about to enter the Underground Trier, but he would lie in ambush there, waiting to attack.
In this chase, the "Werewolf" finally reached his limit, and his body was on the verge of collapse.
He snapped out of his frenzy, felt a strong Danger Premonition, and just wanted to get out of the area as quickly as possible, to escape the Honest Market District.
At this moment, Lumian stopped as if he had noticed something, turned around, and smiled.
He watched as the "Werewolf" began to flee much slower than before, a Blazing White spear materializing in his hand.
Lumian then swung his body and hurled the Flame Spear.
A streak of Blazing White light flashed through the air, piercing the Werewolf's battered body, pinning it to the ground, and setting it ablaze.
In the sudden burst of bright Flames, Lumian, with one hand in his pocket, walked toward the enemy.
Behind him, one after another crimson Fire Raven materialized, swooping and circling as they flew to the Werewolf, burrowing into the wounds on his body and destroying his heart, lungs, and other organs.
When Lumian reached the target, the "Elder" had already stopped breathing and lost its life.
His eyes were wide open, frozen with obvious regret and fear.
"Why don't you just go find our Savoie Gang Boss? Why do you have to attack me? Are you trying to turn me into Marionette to prepare for the assassination of Gardner Martin?" Lumian looked down at the "Werewolf," clicking his tongue and shaking his head. "Just how much do you despise Gang? Are you so confident that you're arrogant?"
Just now, he had actually prepared for the opponent to be difficult to deal with, and even to be Sequence 6. His "escape" route was always close to White Coat Street.
Once we get there, we can attract Franca's attention and have her secretly use the blood of our enemies to cast a deadly Curse.
If Lumian had anticipated that even the two of them working together might not be able to take down the target, he would have quickly turned onto Market Avenue and used the explosion from the Fireball to create a commotion that would attract the attention of the Official Beyonder, thus scaring away the enemy.
However, given the opponent's frenzy and excessive bloodlust, Lumian felt that he might not be able to weigh the pros and cons clearly in a short time and quickly end the battle to escape the pursuit of the Official Beyonder. He would have to hold on for a while before seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Lumian crouched down and began to feel around for the "Werewolf's" clothes.
He found only Coins worth 3 Felkine and burnt Banknotes and wallets; no other useful items.
"Didn't you even consider bribing me? You only want to use your strength to oppress me?" Lumian scolded with a hint of heartache.
He wasn't too disappointed, because he knew the chances of this "Werewolf" being Gifted were extremely slim, and he would soon be able to extract the Sequence 7 Beyonder Characteristic containing Sequence 9 and Sequence 8.
That's worth thirty or forty thousand Felkine, or even more!
Lumian can also use it to combine with "Shadow Tree Branch" to create Mystical Item, or exchange it for other, more suitable Beyonder Characteristic.
Considering the numerous weak explosions that had just occurred, Lumian did not linger on the street. After quickly dealing with the "Werewolf's" Corpse, he lifted him up and led him to the back door of the Breeze Ballroom.
Sakota and Savoie Gang members were no strangers to murder and dismemberment. They quickly found body bags, put the Corpse inside, and sent people to clean up the blood along the way.
Lumian tossed the body bag into the carriage belonging to the Breeze Ballroom, intending to go find Gardner Martin that very night.
During the journey, he opened the body bag several times and finally saw a faint blackish-green light emanating from the Corpse, fused with a sharp canine Teeth.
After a few dozen seconds, Lumian received a strange, dark green Fang.
He considered for a moment and decided to leave the Fang in the body bag to see what Gardner Martin would do.
Given this "Chief's " style of doing things, he will definitely reward him when the time is right. He will either give Lumian "Werewolf" Beyonder Characteristic directly, or give him another one, or buy him with enough money.
In that case, Lumian was happy to be candid.
Around 1 a. m., the carriage from Breeze Ballroom stopped at Number 11 Memorial Hall District Springwater Street. Lumian unceremoniously pulled the rope next to the iron gate, letting the sound of the bells echo in the Gray-White three-story Villa.
Before long, That One male servant, who clearly had Southern Continent blood, came over and opened the door.
He looked annoyed at being woken up, but when he saw Lumian's charred and tattered clothes and the body bag trailing behind him, he suddenly snapped back to reality and regained the politeness a servant should have.
Lumian dragged the body bag into the Villa and saw Faustino, the Butler, who was also a member of the "Iron and Blood Cross Order".
Faustino, having fastened his bow tie, stared at Lumian and the body bag for a few seconds, then asked with slight surprise, "What's this?"
"A strange fellow," Lumian replied with a laugh.
Faustino asked no further questions and led Lumian into the Living Room on the first floor.
Gardner Martin, dressed in a dark blue silk Nightgown, reclined in his Armchair and asked with a smile, "Who's in the body bag?"
"For you to rush here overnight, things seem to be more than they appear."
Lumian untied the body bag and dumped the Werewolf Corpse inside, along with its strange blackish-green Fang, onto the carpet in the Living Room.
Gardner Martin glanced at it, his expression gradually turning serious:
"A ' Werewolf '..."
Lumian laughed:
"He came to me asking who the Boss of our Savoie Gang was, and he wanted to control me and turn me into Marionette."
Gardner Martin nodded slowly. "And then?"
"And then?" Lumian raised an eyebrow and replied with a smile, "Then I killed him."
Upon hearing this, Faustino, the Butler standing beside the "Chief," glanced at the Werewolf Corpse on the ground, then at Lumian, whose clothes bore obvious signs of charring and tearing. His expression was no longer so calm and composed.
Gardner Martin's gaze sharpened, and after a few seconds of silence, he sighed, "It's a pity you can't ' Spiritism,' which caused you to miss out on a lot of intelligence."
Lumian wanted to casually mention, "Perhaps I need Mystical Item that can ' Spiritism ' with spirits," but then worried that it would take up a portion of the reward and leave "Shadow Tree Branch" without a mate.
Gardner Martin continued, "I will arrange the follow-up investigation and response. You don't need to worry about this for now. We will let you know when you are needed to carry out your mission."
"What exactly is he trying to do? He seems to have quite a background." Lumian glanced at the "Werewolf" Corpse, deliberately showing his doubt.
Gardner Martin shook his head:
It's not certain yet.
He then looked at Lumian and asked with a smile, "Do you want this ' Werewolf ' Teeth, or something else?"
"What choices do you have?" Lumian asked without any politeness.
