The incomplete corpse
Unlike the Wilderness with exposed Gray-White rocks that Lumian and his companions had passed through before, the soil on this side of the River of the Underworld was deep black, with no withered Blood-Colored Flowers, nor white skeletons and rotting Corpse.
The high altitudes are no longer illuminated by Paleness, dim, and cold "Sunlight"; dense darkness reigns over this boundless world.
In the Depths of darkness, clusters of Paleness green Flames floated silently in mid-air, far apart from each other, as if serving as streetlights.
Illuminated by the nearest Pale Flame, Lumian swiftly leaped from the gloomy little boat onto the shore.
Once his feet touched solid ground, he felt much more at ease. At the same time, he felt that as he crossed the River of the Underworld, the aura of death on his Undead body became more intense and obvious, and his spirit and consciousness, which were tightly protected by the Golden Mask of the Aegis Family, also felt a slight Chill.
Immediately afterwards, a chilling coldness filled his body, while the highly decomposed "Ferryman," with his Cavern eyes, plunged the long oar back into the River of the Underworld.
It did not attack Lumian again.
It appears unlikely to attack targets on the shore.
Watching the gloomy little boat gradually recede from the shore and the "Ferryman" with his back turned, Lumian thought for a moment and said, "Shouldn't we kill it?"
"As a rotting Human Skin with a not-so-low status, it's a good match for your Messenger."
This refers to the Messenger of the "Knight of Swords," the Half-Fairy,"a Spirit World Creature who has lost half of her external body. In other words, she is missing Human Skin, while the " Ferryman " is Human Skin peeled off by the " Death God "Pathway the Half-God.
The "Knight of Swords" was silent for a few seconds, letting his voice echo in Lumian's ears:
"All she lacks is her own Human Skin."
The answer, www. hetushu. com, was restrained and concise, yet Lumian seemed to hear the "Knight of Swords" roaring:
Don't just find any random Human Skin for my Messenger to wear!
The Knight of Swords paused for a second before continuing, "We might have to return to the other side of the River of the Underworld, and we don't know how many ' Ferryman ' are left on the River of the Underworld."
Do we still need to return to the other side of the River of the Underworld? Only then did Lumian begin to consider a very serious and important question:
"Once we've dealt with Oseto’s Child, how will we leave the Underworld?"
This is clearly not something that can be solved by "Teleportation".
"Our companions outside will likely seek help from Sequence 5 ' Gatekeeper ' or a corresponding Half-God along the ' Death God ' Pathway, which may require us to return to the outer region of the Underworld where we were before, so that we can see that Bronze Underworld Gate."
Lumian nodded, and following the vague sensation brought by the Black Mark on his right shoulder, he took a step forward.
He didn't ask the "Knight of Swords" or That One Temperance Faction Half-God whether they had strayed from the path of finding the child Oseto.
They will remind you if you make a mistake.
Only when Lumian reached the nearest Pale Flame did he realize that it was indeed a street lamp.
It is made of gold and is shaped like a kneeling human figure with his hands tied behind his back, his head tilted back, and his chest and abdomen arched.
Pitch-Black, Evil wick emerged from the mouth of the humanoid Statues, its surface coated with a layer of pale yellow, translucent grease. The Paleness Flames Burning silently, as if it had been Burning for thousands of years without showing any sign of going out.
Starting from this human-shaped street lamp, patches of dark, cracked Stone Slab appeared on the ground.
Lumian could already imagine how solemn and majestic the road leading to the Palace of Death God must have been.
He walked quickly but cautiously into the Depths along the Stone Slab path that was inexplicably cracked and shattered, illuminated by rows of golden, spaced-apart human-shaped streetlights, towards the place where the "Abscessed Severed Hand" part of the body might be hidden.
This road also slopes downwards.
Lumian then recalled the Aurela Hotel where he had stayed before, and the words spoken by Ivelista, the Descendants "Death God"—that many people believe the true Hell and the source of death are Depths Underground, so one must keep going down, deeper and deeper Underground.
This is also reflected in the Underworld... After walking for a while, Lumian suddenly raised his hand and conjured a huge, Blazing White Flames.
The bright light quickly dispelled the darkness further away, allowing Lumian to see the surrounding area clearly:
The Mausoleum- like buildings were either completely collapsed or half-collapsed, deathly silent, without any skeletons or Corpse.
These buildings come in various colors, not just black, but also pale Paleness, golden yellow, dark red, and dark green.
"Did the Attendant of ' Death God ' once live in these houses?" Lumian asked the "Knight of Swords," who was quite knowledgeable about the history of the Southern Continent and the legends of the Underworld.
The Knight of Swords replied succinctly, "I don't know."
He then added:
"Only by finding a creature that passed through the Underworld before ' Death God's ' fall can we confirm this."
"Alright..." Lumian didn't ask any more questions and quickened her pace.
This was because he sensed that the part of his body with the "Abscessed Severed Hand" was not far ahead!
His right hand returned to the "Traveler’s Bag," ready to draw the "Sword of Courage" at any moment.
As for the "Demon’s Whisper" Ring, he has no plans to wear it at the moment. He doesn't think that becoming Undead will make him immune to the Negative Effect of the Sealed Artifact that allow malice to flourish.
Even Undead can be malicious!
It's important to understand that Undead like Wraith and Evil Spirit are formed based on their own Lingering Obsession and residual malice.
Moreover, Lumian's spirit and consciousness were protected by the Golden Mask of the Aegis Family, and he remained alive.
After jogging for a while, guided by the Pale Flame of the human-shaped streetlights and the Blazing White overhead, Lumian discovered a magnificent building located beside the shattered Stone Slab.
The Church, which appeared to be a church, was entirely Pitch-Black and stood fifty or sixty meters tall, but its upper half had collapsed and crashed into the lower part.
Lumian focused his mind and listened intently, hearing a faint, strange sound emanating from the magnificent but dilapidated Church.
It was as if someone was Cutting a human body with an unsharpened sword, sawing through the bones, making those who heard it feel a sense of empathy, Teeth ache.
"I have another matter to attend to inside this Church," Lumian then revealed his intentions to the "Knight of Swords" and the Temperance Faction Half-God.
He then added firmly, "It should be soon."
He remembered that the "Magician" Lady had said that the danger of the "Abscessed Severed Hand" would only become apparent after all its parts were gathered together, and since it currently had two parts in the "Banishment City" of Morola, there was no need to worry about that.
The next enemy we may face is the Undead that created that sound.
"Alright." The "Knight of Swords" didn't ask what it was about.
"Thank you," Lumian replied sincerely.
The fact that neither the "Knight of Swords" nor That One Temperance Faction Half-God objected nor left his body indicates that they tacitly agreed to provide the necessary assistance later.
Lumian extinguished the Blazing White flames hovering above his head to avoid stimulating the Undead inside the ruined Church.
He transformed into shadow, blending into the area unlit by the Pale Flame, silently infiltrating the upper half of the collapsed building that had crashed into its interior.
Lumian saw from the shadows the Stone Pillars embedded in the ground, the Dome shattered into pieces, and the bird-shaped Statues that was only half intact.
After wandering around the Ruins for a while, Lumian's eyes suddenly lit up.
Ten meters ahead, on the remaining broken walls, several bone torches Burning with Paleness green Flames were stuck in the ground. The dense darkness above flowed in through the huge Cavern created by the collapse of the Dome, but was blocked by this dim light.
Beneath the torch of White Bone, at www. hetushu. com, lies a long table made of Gray-White stone, upon which lies a severed, vertically split half of Corpse.
The Corpse was naked, its body was bluish-black, rotten and swollen, and oozing yellowish-red pus everywhere.
It looked much larger than a normal person; it's unclear whether it was a half- Giant in its previous life or was bloated by the putrefying gases after death.
Lumian recognized it at a glance; this was the body of the "Abscessed Severed Hand"!
It belongs to the left half, and has one hand and one foot.
Before the Corpse of the "Abscessed Severed Hand," a massive figure stood to the side of Lumian.
The figure was four meters tall, with Pitch-Black skin etched with numerous Evil patterns, but most of them had already rotted away, the flesh or blood had long since fallen off, revealing white bones, or were in a semi-melted, viscous state.
At this moment, the figure, bent over, was slowly Cutting through the half of the "Abscessed Severed Hand" Corpse, holding an even larger, Paleness leg bone of unknown origin.
Lumian saw that the figure had two curved, tattered, Pitch-Black Goat Horns on its head, and its profile looked like a human face fused with a goat's face, making it increasingly terrifying the more he looked at it.
"Demon" —Pathway Undead that Beyonder becomes after death? Lumian had barely entertained this thought when he saw the goat-faced Giant Cutting off a piece of bluish-black, rotting flesh, stuff it into his mouth, and begin to gnaw on it, causing pale yellow pus to splatter.
On the half of the Corpse, the "Abscessed Severed Hand," rotting flesh wriggled and grew, filling the wound created by the Cutting.
One eats, the other grows? Lumian was pondering a plan to take away the Corpse "Abscessed Severed Hand" when the Demon -like Undead suddenly turned around, looked at the shadow where he was hiding, and spoke in a language he couldn't understand in an empty, decaying voice.
Although he couldn't understand it, Lumian felt his flesh throbbing strangely, forced out of his Shadow Creature state and back into the form of Undead wearing Golden Mask.
However, the rotting Demon with the goat's face did not take the opportunity to attack him.
Two seconds later, the "Knight of Swords" voice reached Lumian's ears:
It is asking:
Do you need meat?
Do you need meat? Lumian was stunned at first, then thankful that he had a translator.
Gazing at the enormous, Undead with Demon appearance and a hunched back, Lumian suddenly had a strange thought:
Wouldn't you call this making a deal with the Devil?
Are the aftereffects of my previous use of "Powerful One’s Dark Box" finally kicking in?
