"An old friend"
The leader of the law enforcement team was about forty years old, with a clean-shaven beard and dark brown eyes.
He answered Lumian's question with a blank expression:
There is no such rule.
He meant that there is no rule that if a thief dies, all his belongings belong to the same owner.
Lumian chuckled and countered, "But there's no specific law prohibiting such things, right?"
"Yes." The lead law enforcement officer nodded slowly.
Lumian's smile widened even more:
"Does arriving in Morola mean completely severing ties with the Past?"
This was deduced from the words of That One clergyman Heraberg inside the Church.
"Yes." The law enforcement officer did not deny it.
Lumian further inquired, "And this thief has no other heir in Morola, is that right?"
Before entering Morola, Serious Criminals are sterilized. Unless it is a family crime or they find a spouse with a shared criminal philosophy here, no one in Morola has a legal Successor.
The enforcer did not immediately answer Lumian's question. Instead, he took out a thick book from under his black robe and began searching for the relevant Recording.
"Do you know this thief? Do you know his name?" Lumian asked thoughtfully.
The law enforcement officer nodded:
"He is Worms."
Soon, the relevant Recording were found, and the law enforcement officer said in a flat voice, "His parents and siblings are not in Morola, and he didn't get married in Morola, at least not registered."
"So, according to the laws of our area, items stolen from a thief belong to the person who caught him unless there are heirs or other owners claiming them," Lumian began to fabricate his reasoning. "It's like killing your opponent in a legal duel and taking the corresponding Spoils of War."
The law enforcement officer looked at Lumian for several seconds before saying, "Okay."
He and his team stood there patiently, waiting for Worms ' Beyonder Characteristic to be released, merging with one of the fingers, breaking off, and turning a translucent black.
After Lumian withdrew his Beyonder Characteristic, he didn't leave immediately. Instead, he stayed where he was, watching with a bored expression as the enforcers dragged away the Corpse and cleaned up the bloodstains and scorch marks inside the alley.
The dark clouds in the sky grew thicker, and the flashes of lightning and muffled explosions became more and more frequent.
Finally, the alley returned to its cleanliness and quiet, leaving only Lumian alone.
Lumian nodded thoughtfully, muttering to himself, "The enforcers seem to remember the face and name of every Morola resident..."
"Even after becoming law enforcement officers, they are still human, yet they no longer seem human..."
He felt that these people, who were called law enforcers but were actually Experimental Subjects, were like Marionette following fixed procedures, as if they had lost their self-awareness and ability to think deeply.
He had deliberately asked Worms if all his belongings belonged to him, not Greed for the Beyonder Characteristic that were about to be extracted. Of course, Greed did play a part, since Beyonder Characteristic are quite valuable. But Lumian had already figured out that Worms was definitely not at Sequence 7 of the "Thief" Pathway, because the corresponding Sequence 7 is called "Cryptologist," who would definitely be able to decipher some of the secrets of the items in the "Traveler's Bag" and roughly understand their level of danger. Otherwise, he wouldn't have died tragically on the spot after only looking at three items.
Lumian even suspected that Worms hadn't reached Sequence 8 "The Swindler" yet, because the thief hadn't acted smart enough.
Lumian's questions to the law enforcement officers weren't meant to showcase his "Lawyer's" talent or expertise in exploiting loopholes. Rather, he was using this question-and-answer session to probe the officers', or rather, the Experimental Subjects ', state of mind!
Then, he came to a conclusion.
He felt that those Serious Criminals, after becoming Experimental Subjects, became somewhat like a combination of the Wax Figures in the Sauron Family's Red Swan Castle and the "Iron and Blood Cross Order" "Supervisor" Olsen, but without the feeling of violence and madness; instead, they were gentle, indifferent, and even Distortion.
"Is this a result of the combined effects of '0-01's' Corruption and Morola's sealing of it?" Lumian was unsure whether he could maintain his self-awareness if he joined the ranks of the Experimental Subjects, or whether he would simply follow Morola's rules and become Marionette of this "Banishment City" or "0-01".
This made him waver in his original plan to approach "0-01" as Experimental Subjects.
He chuckled and asked in a low voice, "Termiboros, are you willing to be Morola's Marionette?"
Termiboros ignored him.
Splash!
The Torrential Rain finally began, completely enveloping the entire Morola in a spray of water and an Apocalypse, gloomy atmosphere.
Lumian followed the shelters extending from the heavy houses, seeking refuge from the heavy rain, and walked towards the place closest to him and where the "Abscessed Severed Hand" and his mutilated body gave him the strongest feedback.
When he arrived at his destination, his clothes were already half-soaked by the strong wind and heavy rain, and the water on the road was almost overflowing onto the steps.
Lumian turned his gaze to the side and saw a Signboard embedded beside the door, depicting a set of cutlery and a wine glass, with the words "Carnivore" written in Lenburgian.
Bar that serves food? Carnivore... Lumian chewed on the Bar's name, and suddenly a strange guess came to him:
"The results of my just-sense are that Severed-Hand Brother's body is distributed in many places in Morola, but originally there were only two pieces..."
"That Goat-Faced Devil in the Underworld cuts off and eats the rotten flesh of the guy with the Cutting Severed-Hand Brother every day, and that rotten flesh regenerates on its own..."
"This Bar is called ' Carnivore '..."
"Could it be that the Boss of this Bar got one of the pieces of Severed-Hand Brother's Corpse, thus saving him the expense of buying Ingredient and using it instead?"
"Bar Boss in other cities might not do something like this, but there's a high probability they would in Morola. They were all Banishment here for committing serious crimes, and the Boss of this Bar might have originally been a deranged butcher who killed and sold flesh..."
"If that's the case, things will be troublesome. We don't know how many people have eaten and absorbed the rotten flesh of the Severed-Hand Brother, or what the consequences will be..."
"After finding the original two pieces of the body and allowing Severed-Hand Brother to recover initially, could we then Aggregation the rest together?"
Lumian muttered something silently, then ran quickly through the rain and pushed open the heavy Wooden Door of the "Carnivore" Bar.
Upon arriving in Morola, after restoring Corpse "Abscessed Severed Hand" to its original state, he began referring to the other man as "Severed-Hand Brother," partly as a joke and partly as a show of "closeness," hoping the other man wouldn't actually attack him in the end, since there might be other dangers later.
As soon as Lumian stepped into the Bar, still wet from the rain, she saw a familiar figure.
The figure sat on Bar Stool in front of the bar, his hair seemed to be dyed red, and his eyebrows and eyes were more brown. Although he was handsome, his features were too Aggressiveness and sharp, making him impossible to like.
Albus!
Albus Medici!
Lumian tensed up immediately, but remained outwardly calm, smiling as he walked towards the bar.
Previously, he only thought Albus Medici was rather mysterious, secretly plotting something, but later he learned of the existence of "Red Angel" Medici and that this former Angel King had planned a huge conspiracy and successfully obtained the "Hunter" Pathway Sequence 1 Beyonder Characteristic from Vermonda Soren in Fourth Epoch Trier.
This made him immediately associate Albus Medici with the "Red Angel," leading him to suspect that Albus was the agent of this Angel King, entering Morola in his place to find an opportunity to get close to "0-01."
This was not a good thing for Lumian, because Medici was the most important person closest to the position of "Red Priest"!
Albus Medici noticed Lumian's gaze, turned his body, and looked back at Lumian, who had made no disguise and had simply restored his hair color to normal.
"What brings you here?" Lumian smiled as if meeting an old friend.
Albus returned the same smile:
"Why are you here too?"
"Of course I was arrested." Lumian chuckled as he sat down next to Albus, tapped the bar counter, and said to the Bartender, whose face looked as if he'd lost his parents, "Give me a Steak, tenderloin, medium-rare."
"Are you Imitation me? You were also inexplicably dragged into this city, and you also ordered a Steak from the tenderloin." Albus one foot on the footrest of the Bar Stool, and the other foot raised, resting on the knee of his other foot.
Before Lumian could respond, he asked with a relaxed smile, "What crime have you committed?"
"Murder, Blasphemy, arson, bombing, kidnapping..." Lumian repeated the charges he had previously told Gei and the others, but not in the original order.
He asked in a relaxed manner, "And you?"
"I," Albus shook his foot resting on his knee, "Murder, arson, instigating riots, attempting to overthrow the government."
"Which government?" Lumian asked in the tone of a long-lost friend.
"Intis." Albus shrugged. "Don't ask me why I tried to overthrow the Intis government but was Banishment to this strange city of Lenburg. I don't know either."
That's a pretty perfunctory answer... Lumian nodded in agreement, "Yes, I didn't commit any crimes in Lenburg either."
While the two former members of the Iron and Blood Cross Order " were "chatting," two Steak were served.
Looking at the Steak, which was placed on a white porcelain plate and had a slightly Blood-Colored and looked quite good, Lumian remained silent and did not pick up his knife and fork.
He sensed that connection.
This is indeed the rotten flesh from the "Abscessed Severed Hand," the rotten flesh that had been Cutting!
A few seconds later, Lumian looked to the side and saw that Albus Medici was also staring at the "Steak" without making any move.
Lumian curled the corners of her lips and asked with a smile, "Why aren't you eating?"
Albus with a bright smile:
Why aren't you eating either?
