Background

Qian Daoliu is the father of the former Spirit Hall Pope, Qian Xunji, and the grandfather of Qian Renxue. Aware that Qian Xunji's treatment of Bibi Dong had been vile, he withdrew into Worship Hall and surrendered Spirit Hall's day-to-day control to Bibi Dong rather than interfere in her rule. He nevertheless continued to value Spirit Hall's future and supported her rise as Supreme Pontiff because of her talent. 40 41

When the Angel God Statue reacted to an unknown inheritor, Qian Daoliu concluded that only someone bearing Qian Clan blood could inherit the Angel God's Divine Throne. His failure to identify the person over many years led him to suspect that Bibi Dong had borne another child besides Qian Renxue. 5 8 14

Bibi Dong eventually revealed that Qian Renxue had a younger brother. She later claimed to have strangled the infant and abandoned him, but Qian Daoliu realized that the Angel Martial Soul's continued existence proved his grandson had survived. 42 63 64

Qian Daoliu is principled but burdened by the Qian Clan's past. He acknowledges that his son wronged Bibi Dong and initially considers Spirit Hall's stability more important than personal grievances. This restraint allows Bibi Dong to retain authority for years, even as their relationship deteriorates. 41

Family is his decisive weakness. He protects Qian Renxue from Bibi Dong's abuse, refuses to kill Bibi Dong partly because doing so could leave Qian Renxue without a mother, and allows Bibi Dong to leverage promises of better treatment for Qian Renxue against him. 64 86
