Background / History

Tang San begins as a Shrek Academy student closely attached to Xiao Wu. When she disappears after going to collect money from Spirit Hall, he organizes the Shrek Seven Devils’ search and concludes that she may have gone to confront Xue Tianyu for revenge. 23 24

At Tianshui Academy, Xue Tianyu’s claims about Xiao Wu provoke Tang San into attempting an attack, though Dai Mubai restrains him. When Xue Tianyu demands one hundred kowtows in exchange for seeing Xiao Wu, Tang San initially agrees before attempting to renegotiate the condition. 25 30 31 Tang Hao’s arrival temporarily gives Tang San hope, but Xue Tianyu defeats Tang Hao despite the Clear Sky Douluo’s intervention. 44 47

Afterward, Tang Hao reveals his conflict with Spirit Hall and the Clear Sky Sect’s sealed status. Tang San requests Ah Yin’s Hundred-Thousand-Year Spirit Bone, promising to restore the sect and avenge his father. 77 His standing rises further when Tang Chen returns to the Clear Sky Sect, proposes him as the next Sect Master, and supports his eventual appointment as Master of the newly formed Clear Sky Alliance. 233 239

Tang San is intensely possessive of Xiao Wu, repeatedly framing her as someone who can only belong to him. Her refusal to return to him drives much of his desire to surpass Xue Tianyu and obtain greater power. 224 255 256

His pride frequently conflicts with his stated devotion. He hesitates over Xue Tianyu’s demand for one hundred kowtows, then later refuses to meet the condition required to take Xiao Wu away, citing the continuation of the Tang family line. 30 31 255 He also becomes willing to treat spirit beasts, including Xiao Wu, as potential sources of Spirit Rings if they cannot be possessed otherwise. 259 260
