Background / History

Origin as the Hatred Mutant

Alcoholic Ghost and Lin Luo’s companion, Drunken Ghost, originate from the same being. Their original self was a High Tang poet and accomplished swordsman who became a Ghost King after death. Tricked into drinking Soul-Scattering Wine by another Ghost King, he escaped but eventually split into six Emotion Mutants: Joy, Sorrow, Fear, Calmness, Hatred, and Slaughter 200.

Alcoholic Ghost embodies hatred, while Lin Luo’s companion embodies joy. Alcoholic Ghost knows that he is incomplete and seeks to devour the other mutants to become whole. At the beginning of their conflict, he is far stronger than Drunken Ghost 222 238.

Position in Mandragora Manor

As guardian of the manor’s wine cellar, Alcoholic Ghost holds a position second only to Madam Rose. The Four Great Beauties cannot command him, and even Madam Rose can barely keep him under control. He secretly cultivates the Hundred Ghosts while contesting Mandragora’s authority openly and covertly 221 260 271 300.

His ambitions extend beyond inheriting the estate: he intends to seize Mandragora Manor and use it as the foundation for a campaign for supremacy in the Horror World 288 337.

Conflict with Lin Luo

Miss Yu recruits Lin Luo to eliminate Alcoholic Ghost after falling into his trap and being cursed. Their initial plan targets his subordinate, One-Eyed Ghost. Alcoholic Ghost also sends Shadow Ghost to monitor Lin Luo, drawing the player into further conflict with his followers 221 238 260.

Their first direct confrontation occurs in Listening Rain Bamboo Grove. Alcoholic Ghost attacks Lin Luo under the pretext of punishing a rule violation, but Poppy and Mandragora intervene. During the fight, he detects Drunken Ghost inside Lin Luo and becomes intent on devouring him. Lin Luo temporarily drives him away by falsely claiming that the stronger Slaughter Drunkard Ghost is approaching 287 288 289.

Defeat at Zither Dwelling

Lin Luo gathers the Four Great Beauties, Chef Ghost, and Maid Ghost against him. Before their main confrontation, Alcoholic Ghost attempts to remove Detonating Paper from Ghost Mask, unknowingly triggering Lin Luo’s trap. The explosion kills Ghost Mask and injures Alcoholic Ghost, who orders a manor-wide search for Lin Luo 285 299.

At Zither Dwelling, Alcoholic Ghost reveals his incomplete Ghost Domain. Drunken Ghost’s power counters its restraints, allowing the allies to attack together. Severely wounded by Lin Luo and Drunken Ghost’s combined Nine Netherworld Netherfire, Alcoholic Ghost detonates his domain and escapes while the others contain the blast 301 303 305.

Alliance with Corpse-Eating Ghost and Death

After his escape, Alcoholic Ghost cooperates with Corpse-Eating Ghost, absorbs its resentment, and helps trap the Four Great Beauties. He seals the entrance to their chamber and later tells Lin Luo that the women are already dead; Lin Luo subsequently discovers them alive inside cocoons 336 337 339 340.

At the Drunken Immortal Tower, Alcoholic Ghost reveals his Ghost King Tier strength, but Lin Luo has already destroyed his Ghost Tide. In their final battle, Lin Luo shapes Nine Netherworld Netherfire into a taotie that tears through his completed domain. Drunken Ghost then drains his damaged Ghost Power into the Wine Gourd, prevents his attempted self-detonation, and devours him. The absorption strengthens Drunken Ghost and advances Lin Luo to the Ghost King Tier 335 336 338.

Personality

Alcoholic Ghost is contemptuous of human players, treating them as vermin and torturing those who displease him. His refusal to take Lin Luo seriously repeatedly exposes him to surprise attacks and deception. Only near his death does he acknowledge that underestimating Lin Luo helped cause his downfall 287 288 338.

His greed combines political ambition with possessiveness toward female ghosts. He covets the Four Great Beauties and resents their support for Lin Luo, imagining that control of the manor will place them within his grasp. He enjoys flattery but is violently abusive toward his own followers, tearing apart ghosts who approach him during his rages 287 298 299.

Despite his bravado, Alcoholic Ghost fears death and absorption by stronger mutants. He flees when convinced that Slaughter Drunkard Ghost is coming, but becomes more skeptical after discovering the deception. When finally cornered, his fear turns into an attempt to destroy himself rather than be devoured 289 303 338.

Alcoholic Ghost drinks from his wine vessel before expelling powerful cutting winds 288.
