Muffled thunder rolled above the clouds.
Torrential rain hammered the roof in a dense, unbroken patter.
Shen Ye closed the window, and the room grew much quieter.
He walked over to the two elven corpses and was about to activate Dark Whisper when he saw the bodies rapidly writhe and swell.
"Watch out for Corpse Explosion!"
Bronte shouted and lunged toward the other side of the room.
Several soldiers scrambled for cover as well.
Corpse Explosion?
Shen Ye's gaze sharpened.
-Meet You Beneath the Moon at Jade Terrace!
In an instant.
The two elven corpses appeared inside his Dharma Form.
Boom!
Boom!
Explosions that sent flesh and blood flying rang out on the mountain.
"Energy +30."
That explosion packed quite a punch. It gave me 30 energy.
"Where are the bodies?" Xiao Mengyu asked.
"I moved them elsewhere, so they won't explode here," Shen Ye said.
Xiao Mengyu walked to the door and quietly listened to the sounds outside. Her expression shifted, and she said:
"There are five picking things up-"
"They're mine," Shen Ye said.
"Thirty li away, there's a powerful energy fluctuation," Xiao Mengyu said.
"That's not one of mine," Shen Ye said.
Xiao Mengyu looked at Bronte.
Bronte shook his head. "It should be a true demon-there aren't many true demons. They turn living beings into their slaves, also called familiars, and drive large numbers of familiars to attack."
Somewhat surprised, Xiao Mengyu asked:
"So those things outside just now didn't even count as demons?"
"They should all be familiars converted from various races-ah, poor things. Both their souls and bodies are controlled. They have no free will at all." Bronte sighed.
Demons.
Shen Ye sank into thought.
Where exactly did these things come from?
Why were there no demons in later times?
Xiao Mengyu
