Background and History

Luo Family and Her Brother’s Death

Xiao Mengyu belongs to the Luo Family but uses her late mother’s surname, Xiao. She trained in swordsmanship from childhood under professional instruction. Her brother, Luo Feichuan, was killed while investigating the assassination contract against Shen Ye: his weapon malfunctioned during his fight with the Assassin after two classmates sabotaged it 24 54 61.

Before meeting Shen Ye, she killed both the Assassin and the two saboteurs. Unsatisfied with punishing the immediate perpetrators, she asked Shen Ye to help identify the person who commissioned the assassination. She had already investigated his background and encouraged him to continue pursuing the truth even if the mastermind belonged to a powerful family 24 25.

Skinner Investigation

Xiao Mengyu followed Zhao Yibing to the Maple Grove Hotel, where she confronted Skinner. She offered to let him hunt her without involving the Luo Family if he revealed his employer. Skinner accepted despite the consequences of betraying the Assassin Alliance 34.

The ensuing battle left her seriously wounded. Shen Ye brought her to a Human Race medical camp, where she recovered sufficiently to resume fighting and protect him. Their struggle exposed the involvement of children from families far stronger than either the Luo or Shen families 37 38 39 42.

She initially believed exposing the crime might secure some resolution, but acknowledged that the perpetrators would probably receive little more than reprimands, confinement, and demands for compensation. Her inability to obtain meaningful justice for her brother overwhelmed her; she slashed the street and left after Shen Ye questioned whether she would kill the heirs if she had the power 42.

Arranged Marriage and Entrance Examinations

After Luo Feichuan’s death, Xiao Mengyu’s father collapsed and remained unconscious in hospital. Other relatives, fearing retaliation from the powerful families, tried to marry her into one of them. She stalled while planning to enter one of the Three Great High Schools and remain there until she was strong enough to protect herself 54 61.

Her grandfather secretly sent her the Luo River Goddess Sword Art. At the admissions banquet, she rejected Luo Erlang’s demand that she leave for the engagement, pointing out that neither her father nor grandfather had approved it. She defeated him with one strike and claimed the Luo Water Sword when it acknowledged her 61 65.

During the examinations, she protected Shen Ye from challenges by keeping their Newcomer Cards registered as “in combat,” then helped him learn martial techniques. On the island trial, she resonated with a lonely Sword Spirit by wielding its greatsword and understanding its desire to fight as a sword again. The spirit subsequently agreed to help them face the Tide of Wailing 54 55 72.

Xirang High School and New Inheritances

At Xirang High School, Xiao Mengyu developed Seven-Star Sword Palace and repeatedly fought alongside Shen Ye. When his skill left him freezing and exhausted, she carried him indoors, checked his condition, and left him stamina-restoring medicine 123.

Her lack of strength against increasingly powerful enemies became a persistent concern. She nevertheless defended the weakened Shen Ye in the grotto, stood against Joseph to give him time to escape, and rescued Zhang Xiaoyi from an outsider seeking the students who had passed the Immortal Kingdom Trial 230 232 233 339 346.

In an underground shelter, she met Gu Nianxue, an eight-year-old visitor from another universe. Xiao Mengyu offered to keep the child safe and find her something to eat. Before departing, Gu Nianxue left white jade containing a sword lesson. Xiao Mengyu later trained with the Earth Mother, surviving a nearly fatal trial that granted Earth’s Creator 346 382.

Destruction Faction

After further training, Xiao Mengyu merged Earth’s Creator into her Dharma Form. Shen Ye temporarily lent her Heaven-Piercing Art Spirit Light, allowing her to sweep through Destruction Servants during a mission requiring the blood of ten servants as proof 524.

She subsequently became the thirteenth Destruction Supreme God. At the Dream Realm gathering, she concealed her initially inadequate combat strength while Shen Ye acted as her subordinate. As the balance shifted in her favor, she ordered three prospective followers to pursue two fleeing Destruction Supreme Gods as the price of joining her 600 601 603.

When Shen Ye departed for his sainthood trial, Peaso brought Xiao Mengyu to the Destruction Faction’s base and relayed his instructions to handle the Poem of Eternity. Hurt by the suggestion that she would only burden him, Xiao Mengyu nevertheless remained behind. She killed an attacking Destruction Supreme God, later killed another with a dangerous second-level sword technique, and compelled the two survivors to accept the destruction submission ritual 604.

Later Battles and Return

Xiao Mengyu later carried Shen Ye while flying, reversing their earlier arrangement. During the Royal City crisis, she used the Royal City Central Scepter to order reinforcements and killed a resisting commander with Shen Ye’s assistance, though she was injured in the exchange 633 655.

She left Shen Ye the Lord of Time’s Hourglass before the monsters attacked a History Fragment. Later, after returning from a death in battle, she explained that she had never personally met her inheritance’s master and did not know the master’s name. She suggested consulting Song Yinchen because the dark flames she wielded seemed to possess awareness and might retain memories 675 696.

Appearance

Xiao Mengyu is described as exceptionally beautiful, with a slender build, clear eyes, and a valiant bearing when holding her longsword 25 34 39.

Personality

Xiao Mengyu is devoted to her family and relentless in seeking justice. Killing her brother’s immediate murderers does not satisfy her while the employer remains free. Nevertheless, she recognizes the political gulf between the Luo Family and the strongest aristocratic houses, and initially uses delay and education as practical means of surviving their pressure 24 42 54.

Her intimidating composure is balanced by courtesy and consideration. When she notices that her killing intent has unsettled Shen Ye, she withdraws it and apologizes. She offers him valuable family techniques, protects classmates against stronger enemies, and treats the apparently vulnerable Gu Nianxue with concern rather than suspicion alone 25 55 346.

Swordsmanship is central to her identity. She dislikes unwanted romantic attention disguised as requests to spar and refuses to let another person dictate her path. Despite being recognized as a Sword Saint, she remains dissatisfied with her strength and willing to learn. Her wish to improve is closely tied to her desire to fight beside Shen Ye rather than continually depend on him 206 207 346 576 604.

She also has a teasing, competitive side. She jokes about Shen Ye’s ominous Card portrait and clashes sharply with Song Yinchen, but can put that rivalry aside when his safety is at stake 52 287 388 407.
