Background / History

Return Home and Preparations

Li Hang studied home appliance repair and was looking for work in the city when Li Yu called him home. He had recently fallen out with an internship supervisor, claiming that the supervisor had tried to make him take the blame for something he had not done. He immediately agreed to buy a ticket and help his brother 4.

During the base’s preparations, Li Yu bought him an SUV. Li Hang admitted that he had barely driven since passing his driving test, but helped transport vehicles and obtain arrows, protective armor, and blades 5.

First Encounters with Zombies

Li Hang accompanied Li Yu to collect their aunt and Xiao Lue when the outbreak began. Seeing zombies bite civilians left him stunned, and Li Yu repeatedly prompted him to keep moving before giving him a knife 8.

He later ignored an instruction to remain in the car because he wanted to help his brother. Li Yu rescued him from approaching police zombies and slapped him out of his shock. Li Hang then asked to be taught how to fight and killed his first zombie, although his slashing attack left the blade stuck in its skull. When a stronger zombie charged them in a supermarket storage room, Li Yu threw him aside to protect him 9 10.

Back at the base, Li Hang fought alongside Li Yu and Xiao Lue against the zombies outside the gate. Li Yu subsequently gave him a gun and a magazine, with basic instructions on their use 11 13.

Expeditions and Base Security

After Li Yu killed an armed attacker outside the compound, Li Hang retrieved the arrow and collected the dead man’s gold ring, watch, and other valuables. His lack of fear by this point worried Li Yu 15.

Li Hang joined the search for Xiao Lue’s father and the raid on the county police station. He drove during the expedition and was visibly excited by the armory’s weapons. On returning to the compound, he helped hold back a crowd by aiming weapons at them while the group entered 16 18 22.

He later reassured Li Haoxian after the younger cousin’s first zombie kill, helped fight zombies during the reunion with Yang Tianlong’s group, and escorted younger family members inside the base at Li Yu’s request 30 33 34.

Zombie Siege and Aftermath

Li Hang was present when the defenders discovered the zombie tide. During the subsequent forest sequence, he stayed behind with Li Yu’s second uncle, Li Haoran, and Li Haoxian while others moved ahead 37 39.

After returning, Li Yu reprimanded Li Hang and Lai Jiaqi for their carelessness during the siege. Both lowered their heads in shame. Li Hang later joined the gathering where Li Yu shared chilled Moonlit Brew Beer and spoke about surviving without becoming monstrous themselves 49 50.

Personality

Li Hang is energetic, impulsive, and prone to fighting. Before the apocalypse, he frequently got into altercations outside the home. Despite being disciplined by Li Yu since childhood, he trusts his older brother deeply and believes that Li Yu would never deliberately harm him 4.

His desire to help can override caution: he left the car against orders during his first zombie encounter. Once his initial shock passed, he eagerly sought combat instruction and wanted another chance to prove himself after his first awkward kill 9.

His growing confidence also brings risks. By the time he looted the attacker’s corpse, he appeared entirely unafraid; later, his careless watchtower conduct earned a serious reprimand. Outside combat, he remains playful, cheekily pressing Li Yu to share his prized beer 15 49 50.
