Toad and Ai Li looked toward the sound in the shadows, and Chi Xiao stepped out of the darkness.
Ai Li was very observant. The instant Chi Xiao appeared, she noticed something was wrong.
Chi Xiao's hair had darkened, or rather, it was no longer as vivid and bright as before.
Chi Xiao had previously had fiery red hair, which Ai Li had rather envied.
Now, however, her hair looked very dull, almost as though she were malnourished.
It resembled what had happened to Xu Le's former captain, Bai Jing, though it was quite rare to see this happen to a Level 7 Legendary expert.
"Lady Chi Xiao." Ai Li greeted her politely.
Chi Xiao was powerful, and even Xu Le normally addressed her respectfully, so Ai Li knew to do the same.
Chi Xiao looked a little tired, but she had no trouble holding a normal conversation.
She pinched the bridge of her nose to ease her headache.
"It looks like something happened on your end, too... something unusual."
Ai Li nodded, then looked at Xu Le and began recounting the earlier battle.
"What happened was this..."
Ai Li was very professional. She gave a complete, well-paced account of everything she knew about the battle.
However, she knew nothing about what had happened after she and Toad died.
She clearly remembered that Toad had been killed by the Lightforging avatar, while she herself had died blocking a blade of light for Xu Le.
They still had not figured out how they had come back to life afterward.
"Resurrection..." Chi Xiao looked at Ai Li and Toad.
Even the normally talkative Toad behaved like an obedient little frog in front of Chi Xiao.
"Let me see your wounds, and the reforged parts."
"Oh, all right." Hearing this, Toad immediately tried
