Background / History

Obito was raised in Konohagakure with his younger brother, Uchiha Retsuo. Their parents died in the year Retsuo was born, and the brothers lived together for eight years under their grandmother’s care. Before his fall, Obito dreamed of becoming Hokage, helped others around the village, and was deeply devoted to Rin Nohara. 2

His Sharingan aptitude was exceptional: he awakened directly at Two Tomoe and later reached the Mangekyō Sharingan without passing through the usual Three Tomoe-to-Mangekyō hurdle. This extreme Yin Release affinity led Uchiha Madara to choose him as a successor. 2

By the Nine-Tails’ attack, Obito had become the Masked Man. He confronted Minato Namikaze with advanced space-time ninjutsu, released the Nine-Tails against Konoha, and concealed his identity behind the name “Uchiha Madara.” 3 6
