Wukong examined the scriptures.

Of those scriptures, the first thirty works contained Ao Tu's own insights into Buddhist Dharma.

As the saying went, the Three Teachings' Sources and Streams all sprang from the Great Dao.

Wukong possessed exceptional comprehension. As he read, one insight opened the way to another, and he could not help becoming absorbed.

Though Tang Sanzang was angry at Wukong's disrespect and rashness, seeing him so absorbed, he could not resist stepping forward to read as well. At one glance, he too became immersed in the wondrous words.

Seeing their master and eldest brother absorbed in the scriptures, Bajie and Sha Wujing also stepped forward to read and became immersed.

Ananda and Kasyapa grew curious at the sight and read them, becoming equally absorbed.

The Five Directional Guardians, the Buddhist Guardian Garan, and the others watching from concealment came forward to read as well, and all became immersed.

The scriptures contained Ao Tu's lifetime of understanding of Buddhism and Daoism. Though they offered only a superficial glimpse, the secret teachings of the various faiths were never lightly shown to others; even a glimpse was precious enough.

Reading those Precious Scriptures, one could truly say: they illuminated sincere principles and pointed toward the proper gate. Subtle, wondrous teachings, classics of the Chan tradition. Through contemplation and practice, one cultivated Buddhahood; with eager devotion, one attained complete wisdom. Every word expressed the truth; a single word, taken up, could shatter worldly delusion.

After reading one piece, Wukong could not help laughing with delight. "Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! What fine principles! A true gateway to wisdom!"

The others could not read and comprehend as quickly as Wukong. By the time he finished one piece, they had read only a handful of words or lines, and now he interrupted them all.
