Purging demons at Lion Camel Ridge (35)
Meanwhile, Medicine Buddha of Lapis Lazuli Light agreed to retrieve the bodies of the Four Buddhas and then bid farewell to Tathagata Buddha.
The Tathagata Buddha said, "The Buddha Well-Praised, Buddha Solemn Light, Jewel Light Buddha, Buddha Without Worries have committed acts of killing and lost their physical bodies; this is due to the karmic consequences. The Medicine Buddha should not have descended the mountain. If he wants his physical body, he will be rebuilt in the Eastern Lands after the Great Calamity, with Incense Offerings Golden Body."
After listening, the Medicine Buddha of Lapis Lazuli Light said:
"World-Honored One, my purpose in descending the mountain this time is twofold: first, to retrieve the bodies of the Four Buddhas; and second, to retrieve the Treasure Banner of the Dao Ancestor. How could I possibly refuse?"
After saying this, the Medicine Buddha descended the mountain and left.
After the Medicine Buddha left, the Tathagata Buddha sighed to the assembly:
"Serving the Sage without first consulting Sage is a grave mistake. The Medicine Buddha has deeply ingrained the five poisons and is destined for a calamity."
Upon hearing this, the the Monks lowered their heads and chanted scriptures, not daring to speak.
One of the more free-spirited individuals looked around and found that most of his old acquaintances were nowhere to be seen.
After descending the mountain, the Medicine Buddha arrived Lion Camel City in a short while.
Look at that city, demons dance wildly, Blood Fiend reach the Nine Heavens, making it extremely difficult to traverse.
The Medicine Buddha dared not enter lightly, so he transformed himself into an ugly Daoist, waving a tattered flag as he entered the city.
There was a Jackal Spirit at the city gate who saw the Medicine Buddha and stopped him, saying:
"Daoist, don't go any further. This is a city of Demon. If you want to beg for money, go west. The king of the Bhikshu Kingdom in the west is righteous and his ministers are wise; you can get a reward from them there."
The Medicine Buddha, "I am not Daoist begs for money; I am Daoist heals the sick."
The Jackal Spirit was delighted and said, "That's perfect! A few days ago, a rat bit me on the back of my neck, and it's still a bit sore after it healed. Could you get me some ointment Talisman Water water to draw out the poison? It really did! I won't charge you the entrance fee; consider it a successful business for you today. How about it?"
Upon hearing this, the Medicine Buddha couldn't help but laugh:
"People say jackals are cunning, and it's true. You took my plaster and Talisman Water for free, and now you think I've made a profit? Fine, this old Daoist can't bear to see people sick, I'll take a look!"
The Jackal Spirit smiled and thanked him, then exposed the back of its neck. The Medicine Buddha looked at it and saw a scar or bump. He touched it and found it was hard.
This is because the rat was poisonous. After the wound healed, the poison remained inside, turning into a hard lump.
The Medicine Buddha, "You weren't bitten by a rat, but by a poisonous substance."
The Jackal Spirit asked, "What is 'blood poison'?"
The Medicine Buddha, "Eating too much meat will cause toxins to accumulate in your body. To cure this, you must eat a vegetarian diet from now on."
The Jackal Spirit cursed, "You damned Daoist Daoist! My ancestors have eaten meat for nine generations, how could I have any poison? If you can't cure me, why are you making up such nonsense to fool me?"
The Medicine Buddha, "How could I not know how to cure? Watch me cure you!"
As he spoke, the Medicine Buddha extended his thumb, pinched his index finger on the second joint of his thumb, and rubbed it three times on the Jackal Spirit's lump. The hard lump immediately dissolved and turned into a soft lump full of pus.
The Jackal Spirit cried out, "Ouch! It hurts!" A sharp pain shot up the back of his neck and down to his forehead. After the pain came an intense itch, and the itch was accompanied by excruciating pain.
The Jackal Spirit frantically scratched the back of his neck with both hands, breaking the lump open and causing a foul-smelling pus to flow out.
The Jackal Spirit cursed, "Damn Daoist Daoist, what kind of sorcery did you use? It hurts so much!"
The Medicine Buddha, "I've rubbed out the poison for you, and now you're better, aren't you?"
Upon hearing this, the Jackal Spirit touched the back of his neck again and found that it no longer hurt. He quickly bowed and thanked him, but his hands were covered in pus and smelled extremely foul.
The Jackal Spirit sniffed it, choked and vomited, and said, "What is that smell?!"
The Medicine Buddha, "This is the accumulated poison from eating too much meat. If it grows another three inches, you'll die! If you eat it again, more poison will be produced!"
The Jackal Spirit was terrified upon hearing this. Lacking any Wisdom, he couldn't distinguish between truth and falsehood and quickly promised not to eat anymore.
After that, the Jackal Spirit indeed switched to a vegetarian diet.
After more than ten years of cultivation, his spirit reached perfection, he shed his withered and foul shell, and was reborn in the Western Heaven.
That's a story for later, so let's leave it at that for now.
The Medicine Buddha went into the city and saw a statue there. It was the Seven Days, and many Little Demon were worshipping in front of the statue.
The Medicine Buddha looked up and saw endless Blood Fiend gathering within the statue. The statue's face was obscured. Upon closer inspection, the Medicine Buddha saw a deity who compassionately said, "Medicine Buddha, why don't you convert to my teachings?"
The Medicine Buddha was greatly alarmed and hurriedly retreated, horrified that the Demon Dragon had betrayed Spirit Mountain and dared to establish another sect! If a battle were to break out, he would first smash this statue to prevent future troubles.
As they walked further in, they found that there was also a market in this Demon City, where the Medicine Buddha set up a sign to offer medical treatment.
A little while later, a red Fox Spirit came over.
The Medicine Buddha, "Your Yin energy is stagnant and your Yang energy is excessively depleted; you are quite ill!"
The red Fox Spirit said, "Old Daoist, stop your nonsense! If you're setting up a stall here, hand over your fees first, or we'll kick you out!"
The Medicine Buddha, "You've just set up your stall and haven't opened for business yet. Let me examine your illness; consider it payment of your fee!"
The red Fox Spirit said, "Guards, throw him out!"
The Medicine Buddha quickly said some nice things, lying that he had money. In his heart, he thought to himself that even a Buddha would have a hard time if he didn't have money in this mortal world! He could only pretend to bend down to take money, but in reality, he grabbed a handful of soil, blew a Immortal Breath on it, turned it into copper coins, and paid the fee to the red Fox Spirit.
Thus, the Medicine Buddha set up his stall and began treating people.
After observing for a few days, he gained fame, and several demon generals and Demon King came to him for advice, further enhancing his reputation.
The Medicine Buddha could cure any hidden injury or illness, and he did not accept gold or silver. His speech and behavior were also extraordinary, so he quickly gained the respect of the demons, who called him the Old Immortal.
On this day, Ao Tu went out to check the Blood Fiend accumulated in the statue. As he passed through the market, he saw many Demon prostrating themselves in worship, so he asked why.
The Demon Daoist, "Third Great King, they are all worshipping the Immortal!"
Upon hearing this, Ao Tu looked over and saw an ugly Daoist holding Gourd, applying Talisman Water to the demons, many of whom Demon believers.
Ao Tu, with his Double Pupils, could see that although he could not see through the true form of the Medicine Buddha, he could see that the Karma came from the Saha World eastward, across ten Ganges River sands of Buddha lands, to the Eastern Pure Lapis Lazuli World.
Therefore, Ao Tu guessed that it was Medicine Buddha of Lapis Lazuli Light had come here, and couldn't help Tathagata Monk's abilities.
Last time, when I was at Pansi Ridge, I announced to the outside world that I would occupy Spirit Mountain. As a result, the Tathagata Buddha, who was sitting on Spirit Mountain, remained unmoved. Instead, it was Randeng Ancient Buddha came to cause trouble.
Now, he has gathered demons in Lion Camel City, deliberately letting the Golden-Winged Great Peng devour the Western Heaven gods and steam the Four Buddhas. As a result, the Tathagata Buddha is still sitting on Spirit Mountain, unmoved, while the Medicine Buddha comes to enter the tribulation.
That Medicine Buddha is foolish. He attacked Spirit Mountain himself, but didn't attack his Eastern Pure Lapis Lazuli World. What's he doing here?
Ao Tu couldn't understand, so he shouted:
"Guards, seize that Demon Monk!"
Upon hearing this, the demons asked, "Third Great King, where is the Demon Monk?"
Ao Tu said, "Isn't that what's in front of you?"
The Demon Daoist, "Your Great King, that's Old Immortal! He's been coming and going in the city lately, giving out talismanic Talisman Water that can cure all diseases, and there's no one who doesn't respond!"
Ao Tu said, "That's the Demon Monk in disguise! Capture him at once!"
Upon hearing this, the demons dared not disobey and rushed forward to bind the Medicine Buddha's hands and feet, capturing him.
Ao Tu said, "Who are you? State your name and why have you come to my city!"
