Background / History
On Blue Star, Lin Ke attended prestigious universities, pursued postgraduate education, and studied abroad on a government scholarship. He worked in a technical STEM position, studied economics and finance out of personal interest, and later passed the civil service examinations and governed a region. His previous experience supplied both scientific knowledge and administrative habits useful in his new life 17 48.
His transportation occurred during a fishing trip: he closed his eyes and reopened them in another world, where he was born as a noble child. He retained memories of his former parents, friends, relatives, and career, and initially struggled to accept the separation 1 2 3.
On his third birthday, Furon cared for him through a high fever. Her affection led him to accept his new identity as Lin Ke Azan. Nevertheless, he remained suspicious of his father’s first wife, Antova, remembering that she had drawn a dagger beside him when he was an infant before Billy interrupted her 3.
For much of his early childhood, Lin Ke concentrated on language, etiquette, and protecting himself. He deliberately restrained displays of exceptional intelligence to avoid appearing monstrous. Only near his sixth birthday did he learn that Professionals had superseded the older magic and battle-aura systems 4 6 17.
Appearance
Lin Ke has a small, baby-faced body, fair skin, slightly plump cheeks, clear eyes, and soft, fine brown hair 2 6.
- Childlike build: His physical frailty and limited endurance become apparent after his first battle 15.
- Noble clothing: Even his exercise clothes contain multiple specialized layers and require assistance to put on 4.
- Azan colors: His expensive noble attire incorporates fiery-red patterns 42.
Personality
Lin Ke is disciplined, analytical, and cautious. He cultivates during travel, encourages John to work harder, and sorts competing responsibilities by importance and urgency. He also hides his extraordinary aptitude rather than relying on his noble background to protect him 23 29 48.
His treatment of others combines affection with strict administration. He is kind to ordinary servants, Billy, and his mother, but keeps the castle’s middle-ranking supervisors under tight control to discourage corruption and prevent his authority from being undermined. During the tiger attack, he kills a deserter to prevent a rout, despite experiencing fear and exhaustion himself 3 4 13 15.
He is willing to admit mistakes. When Nix’s medicinal-herb research produces little progress, Lin Ke apologizes for his approach and rejects Billy’s claim that he cannot be wrong. He also prefers earning affection through sincerity rather than manipulating it through a bloodline 22 46.
His suspicion of Antova is persistent but not absolute. By Chapter 49, he recognizes that her behavior in person seems benevolent despite the incidents that made him distrust her 49.
Abilities & Skills
Knowledge Bloodline
The Knowledge bloodline helps Lin Ke acquire, learn, spread, and explore knowledge more easily 35.
- Supports his [Scholar] class and receives the memories used to establish its traits 25.
- Works alongside Luck to stimulate ideas for inventions and new professions 35.
- Glows while he reasons through why Ove’s promise has completed a system mission 40.
Luck Bloodline
The Luck bloodline improves Lin Ke’s fortune and can draw his attention to promising opportunities 31 35 41.
- Stirs when he approaches Akrik’s Shop, encouraging him to enter 31.
- Pulses violently when he is about to discard the rotten wood later identified as a Divine Artifact Fragment 41.
- Is his intended foundation for [Inventor], though that class has not yet been acquired in the supplied chapters 42 50.
Leadership Bloodline
After awakening Leadership, Lin Ke finds it easier to inspire others and attributes this to the bloodline’s natural affinity 24.
- Strengthens his ability to address and motivate the castle’s residents 24.
- Fits his ambition to build a faction around newly created professions 42.
- Is distinct from his earlier command experience: he successfully leads the convoy before awakening it 11 14 22.
[Scholar] Cultivation
Lin Ke cultivates by extending his consciousness beyond his soul space, collecting elemental lights, and feeding them to the Knowledge sapling. Its growth then feeds back into his [Scholar] class 29 41.
- His Andrew Level aptitude allows the sapling to consume large quantities of elemental energy 29.
- Large wood-element clusters rapidly fill the bloodline and contribute to his breakthrough 29 47.
- Before level one, he has no mana, learned magic, or inscribed skills. His first skill slot is available only at level two 29 41.
- Reaching level one permits simple spellcraft, but no actual spellcasting by Lin Ke is documented in these passages 47.
Scientific and Administrative Knowledge
Lin Ke applies remembered science and organizational methods rather than assuming his former-world knowledge makes him superior to everyone in the new world 17.
- Medicine and hygiene: Identifies dampness, mold, and poor ventilation as dangers to wounded guards; teaches Nix to investigate local treatment practices 16 47.
- Military organization: Introduces formation commands, running drills, dedicated archery training, and separate blade, sword, spear, and bow units 8 29 42.
- Negotiation: Secures a monthly experimental budget of 727 gold coins, five silver coins, and three copper coins from Antova 27.
- Research limits: Knows the general possibilities of papermaking but not its exact materials or process, so plans to research them 50.
System Interface
Lin Ke can summon a text-based system display by blinking and claim rewards mentally. The system provides missions but little explanation of its mechanisms 1 3 9.
- Learns that mission wording can allow unconventional solutions, including merely declaring himself King of Azan 7 8.
- Uses a mission-success notice to confirm that the convoy’s attackers have truly been repelled 14.
- Receives rewards including a follower with exceptional potential and a Divine Artifact Fragment 3 9 41.
- Suspects that the first reward helped enable his unusual bloodlines or aptitude; its exact contribution remains unconfirmed 22 23.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Divine Artifact Fragment — A rotten-looking piece of wood obtained after completing the Ove mission. Supplies large wood-element clusters that help him reach level-one [Scholar]; Ove confirms that it is especially useful to him 41 47.
- Servant of Truth summoning sphere — A transparent sphere containing lightning, supplied by Ove. Lin Ke breaks it to release a fifth-tier Servant of Truth during his confrontation with Puxin 38.
- Borrowed iron sword — Taken from a guard during the convoy emergency and used to kill the fleeing Rosfor 11 13.
- Parchment notebooks and quills — Used for Ove’s lessons, research records, and written prioritization of projects. Lin Ke writes his planning categories in Chinese 25 48.
Relationships
- Furon — Mother. Her care helps him accept his new life; he protects her during the convoy attack and Puxin’s coercion 3 11 38.
- Viscount Garros Azan — Father and the castle’s master. Lin Ke resents his absence since birth but insists that his disappearance in the Minochel Plane is not proof of death 3 17 37.
- Antova / Lady Brando — Father’s first wife. Lin Ke distrusts her because of the infant dagger incident and her correspondence with Puxin; she privately describes adversity as a way to help him grow and later provides financial support 3 27 40 47 49.
- Steward Billy — Trusted steward whom Lin Ke calls “Uncle Billy.” Their trust develops through incidents and tests; Billy supports his training and administration 8 9.
- John — Personal valet and prospective future steward. Protective of Lin Ke and sensitive to his standing beside Nix; Lin Ke funds his Enlightenment and urges him to cultivate diligently 4 23 24 29.
- Nix — Rabbitfolk follower who swears lifelong loyalty after the convoy battle. Lin Ke pays for his Enlightenment and guides him toward medical study and the proposed [Doctor] class 14 15 17 46 47.
- Ove — Enlightenment teacher, master, and protector. Their initially strategic association develops into mutual affection, with Lin Ke sharing his professional ideas and protecting Ove from treaty violations 29 40 42.
- Baron Puxin — Hostile relative who intended to kill Lin Ke and install his own son as Azan’s heir. Lin Ke survives through Ove’s protection and postpones further action until Garros returns 38 40 49.
- Zernital — King of the Gods, defeated through Lin Ke’s mathematical challenge. His dying curse designates Lin Ke as his heir and incarnation 1.
Story Role / Major Arcs
God-Slaying and Early Missions
Following a system mission into the woods, Lin Ke encounters Zernital and offers a method for recruiting believers in exchange for solving a mathematical problem. Zernital expends his remaining power establishing a believer link, then fails to solve the Riemann Hypothesis before time runs out. His death completes the mission but leaves Lin Ke facing a curse due to activate in one year 1.
The next mission demands that Lin Ke proclaim himself King of Azan before awakening his bloodline. He satisfies the wording with a declaration during dinner rather than acquiring an actual kingdom, demonstrating that the system accepts interpretive solutions 3 7 8.
Convoy Defense
A system warning gives Lin Ke advance notice of an attack and places his first follower’s life at stake. He organizes more than three hundred inexperienced guards, combines threats with monetary rewards, and promises future Enlightenment opportunities for guards who kill a Giant Tiger 10 11 13.
During the attack by two Deep Blue Giant Tigers, he executes Rosfor for desertion and keeps the convoy from collapsing. Afterward, he arranges cremation, care for the wounded, and squad rewards while accepting Nix’s loyalty. The unsanitary conditions facing the injured guards then prompt his first medical reform efforts 13 14 16.
Ove’s Discipleship and Puxin’s Threat
Lin Ke arranges early Enlightenment, conceals his extraordinary results, and quickly becomes a [Scholar]. Seeking to keep Ove at the castle, he considers challenging the teacher’s materialist beliefs, but Ove ultimately accepts him as a disciple after recognizing his concern and efforts to ease his social anxiety 17 23 25 27 29.
When Puxin uses news of Garros’s disappearance to pressure Furon and Lin Ke into staying at his residence, Lin Ke reveals his teacher’s protection. After Ove intervenes, Lin Ke prevents him from killing the family because the Nathang Common Treaty restricts such violence. Ove’s promise to remain until Garros returns unexpectedly completes the system’s five-month companionship mission 37 38 40.
Professions, Performances, and Industry
The family’s debt of 280,000 gold coins to the Deep Blue Grand Duke, seasonal Monsters, and an approaching six-year Monster tide give Lin Ke urgent reasons to seek income. He builds a stage, trains the Azan Troupe, and considers performances as both revenue sources and foundations for new classes 42 43 49.
| Project / Proposed Class | Plan and documented status |
|---|---|
| [Doctor] | Argues that ordinary people can practice medicine without being [Witch Doctors] or [Priests]; sends Nix to learn from villagers and hunters 43 47. |
| [Inventor] | Plans to use Luck, with proposed traits of invention, manufacturing, innovation, and imitation. Not yet acquired 42 50. |
| Stage enterprise | Envisions advertising, product launches, and filming alongside performances; villagers become enthusiastic about the troupe 46 49. |
| [Magician] | Considers visual and verbal deception useful against both audiences and enemies, but leaves the class tentative because he knows few tricks 48. |
| [Engineer] and finance classes | Lists engineering, accounting, economics, and financial specialization as development possibilities 48. |
| Paper mill | Selects a factory site and provides building plans for Ove; intends to research papermaking as his first invention 50. |
Notable Quotes
“Give me boundless knowledge, and I will move the world!” 22
“Teacher, even the seed of the most beautiful flower needs a gardener to plant and guide it. Otherwise, it remains only a seed.” 25
Trivia
- His negotiated monthly research allowance—727 gold coins, five silver coins, and three copper coins—matches his birth date 27.
- He vows never to act cute again after his mother and Antova fuss over his cheeks, then immediately returns to the tactic at dinner 6 7.
- He initially takes comforts such as servants and noble living for granted, later realizing they have helped him overlook inventions from Blue Star 35.
