The enormous white shadow darted through the pitch-black alley, only stopping and standing upright when it reached a deserted corner.
It was actually a large, fat humanoid with a cat's head-a white Cat Demon. Excitedly, the cat called into the corner, "I found something to eat! Grilled squid! Do you want to try some?"
Two more feline heads poked out of the darkness, belonging to a young black tomcat and an orange cat girl. They were none other than the Meow-Meow Cult's three little ones whom Yue Wen had met before.
"Grilled squid..." The black cat drew out the words, then turned his head away. "That's food for little kids. I don't like it. You two eat it."
"I'd like to try some." The orange cat girl smiled bashfully. "Just a tiny bit is enough for me."
The white cat said generously, "It's fine, Orange, Little Black. Go ahead and eat. I can go find more. They say Night Market Street is full of delicious food, and they weren't wrong!"
"Hmm..." The other two little Cat Demons hesitated.
A skewer of grilled squid sat between them, somewhat cold and dusted with dirt, but still giving off a rich aroma that tempted all three cats' appetites.

It wasn't because they thought it was dirty, but because each wanted their companions to have the first bite.
While they were agonizing over it, a clear voice came from the corner's entrance. "That skewer fell on the ground. How about something clean instead?"
