Ch. 1Leave it to me, and rest easy [New book's here!]

Yue Wen investigated a haunted building for property manager Chen and destroyed a powerful nightmare wraith with his magical bracelet. Chen was badly injured, and Yue Wen carried him toward a hospital on his electric scooter.

  • Yue Wen met Manager Chen outside a building haunted by a spirit and learned that Chen had to resolve the problem within a week.
  • Yue Wen identified the presence as a nightmare wraith and entered the dark building with Chen to investigate.
  • Yue Wen used a Demon-Detecting Mirror and Spirit-Tracking Needle to locate the wraith behind Chen.
  • The wraith seized Chen, and Yue Wen transformed his bracelet into a flying sword that pierced and destroyed it.
  • Yue Wen recognized the wraith as the lingering resentment of a century-old tree and carried the injured Chen to his scooter for a hospital trip.

Ch. 2Perfected One Nagiko

Perfected One Nagiko visited Yue Wen to tell him the Supernatural Affairs Bureau had rejected his cultivation office license and to offer him a chance to join the bureau. Yue Wen refused, concealing his knowledge of his parents’ disappearance and the dragon he had seen while in a coma.

  • Yue Wen returned to his office and found Perfected One Nagiko eating lamb skewers on his sofa.
  • Perfected One Nagiko explained that Yue Wen’s business license was rejected because his office lacked the two cultivators required by bureau regulations.
  • Perfected One Nagiko told Yue Wen that classified intelligence linked his parents’ disappearance to his father’s research and offered access if he joined the bureau.
  • Yue Wen declined the bureau’s offer, despite its resources and his potential to compete in the Youth Cultivators’ Assembly.
  • Perfected One Nagiko departed in a wisp of smoke, and Yue Wen revealed that he had concealed what he knew about his parents and had seen a dragon during his coma.

Ch. 3King Big Dragon

Yue Wen tried to buy the fourth-realm True Dragon Method from Big Dragon but learned it cost 399 Evil-Suppressing Money, far more than he could afford. Keeping his connection to the dragon secret, he later bid an unusually low price to clear evil spirits from a cemetery.

  • Yue Wen visited Big Dragon in the black-and-gold hall and asked the price of the Astral Realm section of the True Dragon Method.
  • Big Dragon quoted 399 Evil-Suppressing Money, refused Yue Wen's request to pay in installments, and ended their meeting by plunging the hall into darkness.
  • Yue Wen recalled how Big Dragon had first sold him the True Dragon Method on credit and explained that he concealed the dragon and his abilities to grow stronger and investigate his missing parents safely.
  • Yue Wen found a commission in the Jiangcheng City Cultivators' Job Group to clear evil spirits from the eastern cemetery.
  • Yue Wen bid one thousand for the job, prompting other cultivators to question and criticize his unusually low price.

Ch. 4Lantern Monster

Yue Wen posted a recruitment notice for a demon hunter's assistant, then went to the East City Public Cemetery to begin a night job clearing sinister entities. He encountered a Lantern Monster, which the Demon-Detecting Mirror identified as an exceptionally weak nightmare wraith.

  • Yue Wen wrote a recruitment notice offering a 3,000-yuan base salary and half of mission earnings to a cultivator assistant.
  • Yue Wen spent the day cultivating at his office and left for the East City Public Cemetery that evening.
  • Yue Wen met caretaker Old Huang, who showed him the cottage and left him to guard the cemetery for the next few nights.
  • Yue Wen entered the cemetery after dark and used his Demon-Detecting Mirror to examine a drifting green flame.
  • The Demon-Detecting Mirror identified the entity as a Lantern Monster, a nightmare wraith with about one-quarter the combat strength of a healthy human grandmother.

Ch. 5Spare me, Grandpa!

Yue Wen hunted Lantern Monsters in the cemetery and discovered three cat demons digging up graves for their cult leader. After catching them in the act, he knocked out two and forced the black cat to surrender.

  • Yue Wen cut down Lantern Monsters and noticed demonic energy among the cemetery's yin energy.
  • He watched three cat demons arrive and learned they planned to dig up recent graves on their cult leader's orders.
  • Yue Wen ambushed the orange cat girl and knocked her unconscious when she spotted him.
  • The white cat charged Yue Wen with a pickaxe, but Yue Wen knocked him out with Wandering Dragon Hand.
  • Yue Wen punched the black cat and sent him flying, after which the demon dropped to his knees and begged, "Spare me, Grandpa!"

Ch. 6You don't want to go to the Supernatural Affairs Bureau either, do you?

Yue Wen questioned three cat demons who had tried to retrieve a corpse and learned they served the Meow-Meow Cult, led by Queen Cat Mountain. When he threatened to hand them to the Supernatural Affairs Bureau, the black cat offered information about a powerful artifact in the Wasteland Zone in exchange for their release.

  • Yue Wen questioned Black Meow, White Meow, and Orange Meow, and Black Meow revealed that Queen Cat Mountain had sent them to retrieve a dead man's corpse because he carried something she wanted.
  • Yue Wen decided not to provoke the Meow-Meow Cult, but threatened to turn the three cats over to the Supernatural Affairs Bureau unless they compensated him for the trouble they caused.
  • The three cats begged Yue Wen not to hand them over, and Black Meow offered to reveal a treasure in exchange for their freedom.
  • Yue Wen inspected a photo on White Meow's old phone that showed a crashed helicopter near Northern Vermilion Bird Peak, where powerful spiritual energy prevented the cats from approaching.
  • White Meow said their grandparents had been killed by powerful demons, while Black Meow claimed his grandfather and grandmother had passed down a Secret Art to him.

Ch. 7Cultivation Chat

Yue Wen let the Meow-Meow Cult’s three little demons leave, finished much of his cemetery work, and browsed Cultivation Chat while resting at the agency. A young woman arrived and asked to apply for an assistant position.

  • Yue Wen warned the three little demons not to cause trouble at the eastern cemetery for two days, then sent them away.
  • Yue Wen told old Mr. Huang that demons had attacked the cemetery and advised him to contact the Supernatural Affairs Bureau if anything unusual happened.
  • Yue Wen returned to the agency, searched Cultivation Chat for the Meow-Meow Cult, and read trending news about Venerable Muyang, Gu Nanchao, and the Zhao Family’s missing daughter.
  • Yue Wen prepared to sleep, but a young woman arrived at the agency and asked whether he was hiring an assistant.

Ch. 8The Fastest Interview in History

Yue Wen hired Zhao Xing'er after an unusually brief interview, then went to East City Cemetery expecting to clear Lantern Monsters. He insisted on doing the job despite the arrival of Qi Dian, an immortal sect disciple hired to oversee the cemetery, and Qi Dian was left awkwardly facing questions about his cultivation.

  • Yue Wen hired Zhao Xing'er as his assistant after asking her only a few questions, and she messaged someone that her new identity and job in River City seemed secure.
  • Yue Wen returned to East City Cemetery, where Old Huang told him Qi Dian of the Riverside Gate had been hired to oversee the Lantern Monsters.
  • Yue Wen insisted on clearing the cemetery himself because he had accepted payment, earning Old Huang's praise and changing Qi Dian's opinion of him.
  • Yue Wen said he had reached the late unity realm, surprising Qi Dian, who was only at the middle unity realm.
  • Old Huang asked Qi Dian what realm he was at, and Qi Dian avoided answering by asking whether the others wanted fried chicken.

Ch. 9Please, Stop Talking...

Yue Wen cleared Lantern Monsters from the cemetery before discovering a black-clad man using the Corpse-Calling Art to search for Zhang Wei. Yue Wen recognized that the search was connected to the cat demons from the previous day, just as someone shouted a challenge at the evil cultivator.

  • Yue Wen thanked Qi Dian for the Lantern Monsters and began clearing the cemetery for Evil-Suppressing Money.
  • Yue Wen sensed surging yin energy and joined the corpses summoned from their graves to investigate.
  • A black-clad man used the Corpse-Calling Art to gather recently buried bodies and search for Zhang Wei on behalf of his employer.
  • The man narrowed the candidates by calling out details about Zhang Wei, but several corpses matched each clue.
  • Yue Wen recognized one corpse as the person sought by the cat demons, and a voice shouted at the black-clad man.

Ch. 10Glutton

Qi Dian arrived in a dazzling display but was quickly defeated and captured by the black-clad evil cultivator. Yue Wen sneaked among the summoned corpses to close in on the man and launched a surprise attack with his flying sword.

  • Qi Dian attacked the black-clad man, but the man's sinister wind disrupted his technique and knocked him unconscious.
  • The black-clad man pinned Qi Dian with steel needles and planned to ransom him before turning him into a corpse puppet.
  • Yue Wen decided to rescue Qi Dian by disguising himself as one of the corpses and joining the group summoned by the black-clad man.
  • Two corpses stepped forward when the black-clad man called for Zhang Wei, confusing him because his client had described only one target.
  • Yue Wen revealed himself and launched his flying sword at the black-clad man from close range.

Ch. 11Just a Little Favor

Yue Wen killed the evil cultivator who had trapped Qi Dian, then searched the bodies and found a mysterious purple-gold cloth hidden beneath Zhang Wei’s wig. The emblem on the cloth shook Yue Wen, and he concealed it before waking Qi Dian and claiming the fight had been a little favor.

  • Yue Wen overwhelmed the black-clad evil cultivator with his flying sword and killed him for his crimes.
  • Yue Wen searched the corpse, took its cash and a half-skull of suspected blackwater dragon-pattern gold, and left the evil banner and locked phone for the Supernatural Affairs Bureau.
  • Yue Wen searched Zhang Wei’s body with the Spirit-Searching Needle and found a torn purple-gold cloth hidden beneath his wig.
  • Yue Wen recognized the cloth’s emblem, hid it in his robe, and put Zhang Wei’s wig back in place.
  • Yue Wen removed the steel needles from Qi Dian, who awoke and urged him to flee before learning that Yue Wen had killed the evil cultivator.

Ch. 12Visualization diagrams

After saving Qi Dian, Yue Wen received links to the Riverside Gate’s Thunderclap Art and Flash Technique visualization diagrams and mastered both quickly. While examining the day’s spoils, he recognized the emblem on a piece of purple hide as the one on the mysterious black card connected to his parents’ disappearance, and learned it pointed to Snake Mountain Tiger Tomb.

  • Qi Dian apologized to Yue Wen for underestimating him and offered to repay him, so Yue Wen asked for the techniques behind Qi Dian’s dramatic entrance.
  • Qi Dian sent Yue Wen links to the Thunderclap Art and Flash Technique diagrams, and Yue Wen studied them after returning to his office.
  • Yue Wen reviewed the spoils from the fight and found no clues in the purple hide beyond its emblem.
  • Yue Wen compared the hide’s emblem with the one on his black card and recalled his parents’ disappearance in a crash involving a mysterious rift.
  • Yue Wen remembered that a paper published by his father linked the emblem to Snake Mountain Tiger Tomb.

Ch. 13Interest?

Yue Wen asked the Dragon King about the purple hide and learned it was a Demon Race messaging tool with unread messages, while also buying the Astral Realm cultivation method through installments. He returned to the real world and found an unread message from Young Hero Qi Roams the Martial World with His Sword.

  • Yue Wen recalled his parents’ research into the Tiger Tomb on Snake Mountain and connected its emblem card to their disappearance, resolving to become strong enough to investigate the Ten Thousand Mountains.
  • Yue Wen showed the Dragon King the purple hide, and the Dragon King identified it as demon skin used to send messages across realm barriers.
  • Yue Wen paid the Dragon King for instructions to use the hide and learned that each demon’s encryption spell was needed to decipher its messages.
  • Yue Wen asked about a piece of a black-and-gold skull, but the Dragon King dismissed it as ordinary trash.
  • The Dragon King offered Yue Wen the Astral Realm cultivation method on a twenty-month payment plan, and Yue Wen accepted and paid the first installment.
  • Yue Wen returned to consciousness and found an unread message from Young Hero Qi Roams the Martial World with His Sword.

Ch. 14Maybe I Should Just Die

Qi Dian struggled with his confidence after Yue Wen outclassed him, while Yue Wen reviewed his cultivation and planned to gather materials for his future breakthrough. Zhao Xing'er began her first day at work in Jiangcheng City, eager to make a name for herself.

  • Qi Dian comforted himself by resolving to rely on his comprehension and become Jiangcheng City's representative at the Youth Cultivators' Assembly.
  • Qi Dian offered to let Yue Wen study two divine abilities for free, and Yue Wen replied that he had already mastered them, leaving Qi Dian dejected.
  • Yue Wen reviewed his methods and considered how the Thunderclap Art and Flash Technique could help him in combat.
  • Yue Wen studied the curse-lifting method and the Astral Realm section of the True Dragon Method, then searched for its rare cultivation materials.
  • Zhao Xing'er boarded a bus for her first day at work and told her best friend she planned to slay monsters, vanquish demons, and build something great in Jiangcheng City.

Ch. 15A client comes calling

Zhao Xing'er joined Yue Wen's cultivation office and brought in a client whose son had gone missing. The man suspected his former factory owner had abducted the boy to pressure him over unpaid compensation, and Yue Wen agreed to help him at their negotiation that night.

  • Yue Wen assigned Zhao Xing'er to hand out flyers so the office could attract clients.
  • A red-haired man hit on Zhao Xing'er, and she punched the rear half off his sports car after warning him to get it repaired.
  • Zhao Xing'er messaged a friend about losing control and damaging a car, then brought a worried one-armed man to the office as their first client.
  • The man explained that his son had disappeared after talking about children who invited him to play games, and he suspected his former factory owner had taken him.
  • Yue Wen agreed to accompany the man to his negotiation that night, while Zhao Xing'er reassured him they would try to recover his son.

Ch. 16Treasure Forest

Yue Wen had the black-gold skull appraised at Treasure Forest and learned it was valuable but possibly linked to a demonic cultivation sect. He then set out with Zhao Xing'er to help Guo Yang, while Mr. Chen arranged for the Tiger Head Gang to deal with Guo Yang and asked them to handle another problem.

  • Yue Wen took the half skull of blackwater dragon-pattern gold to Treasure Forest, where Ting Bo appraised it as a valuable item worth around a hundred thousand but declined to buy it because it might be connected to a demonic sect.
  • Yue Wen asked Ting Bo about purple jade branches, and Ting Bo offered to check whether the main-city store had any.
  • Yue Wen returned to his office, studied the curse-breaking method, and later left with Zhao Xing'er to meet Guo Yang.
  • Mr. Chen welcomed two Tiger Head Gang members to his factory and asked them to deal with Guo Yang's compensation demand.
  • Mr. Chen told the gang members that after dealing with Guo Yang, he wanted their help with whoever had smashed his son's new car.

Ch. 17Make Sure You Hold Me Back

Guo Yang took Yue Wen and Zhao Xing'er to confront President Chen over unpaid injury compensation and his missing son. Zhao Xing'er attacked President Chen before he could reveal where the boy was, and Yue Wen struggled to stop her as Guo Yang panicked.

  • Guo Yang asked Yue Wen and Zhao Xing'er to hold him back if President Chen provoked him, then led them into the factory office.
  • President Chen dismissed Guo Yang's compensation claim and threatened him through two Tiger Head Gang cultivators, while hinting that he knew about Guo Yang's son.
  • Zhao Xing'er punched President Chen into the wall before he could finish denying that he had taken Guo Yang's son.
  • Yue Wen defeated the two gang enforcers as Zhao Xing'er kept punching President Chen and damaging the office.
  • Guo Yang pleaded for Zhao Xing'er to stop because President Chen still knew where his son was, while Yue Wen tried to restrain her by warning about property damage and her salary.

Ch. 18The Tiger Head Gang

Yue Wen and Zhao Xing'er questioned the men who had attacked Guo Yang's workplace, then followed one of them to the Tiger Head Gang's hidden headquarters to find Guo Yang's son. Yue Wen tricked the gang boss into opening the basement door, leaving them poised to confront him.

  • Zhao Xing'er lost control of her mutated innate martial saint physique and sent Yue Wen crashing into a wall before regaining her senses.
  • Yue Wen learned that Zhao Xing'er was at the middle stage of the third realm and that anger made her red martial spirit light erupt, sometimes causing her to attack friend and foe alike.
  • Yue Wen forced a captured thug to lead him and Zhao Xing'er to the Tiger Head Gang's headquarters after the men could not reveal where Guo Yang's son was.
  • The thug guided Yue Wen and Zhao Xing'er through the gang's guarded building to a hidden basement entrance protected by formations.
  • Yue Wen called the gang boss and cursed at him while pretending to deliver food, provoking him into opening the basement door.

Ch. 19Tiger Hunting

Yue Wen and Zhao Xing'er discovered that the Tiger Head Gang's basement concealed a powerful den of Tiger Demons. When the demons attacked, Zhao Xing'er charged into battle with a Three-Pointed, Double-Edged Blade, leaving Yue Wen stunned.

  • Zhao Xing'er punched Boss Tiger down the basement stairs, and she and Yue Wen followed him into the hidden den.
  • Six shut the basement doors behind them as five enormous Tiger Demons revealed themselves and threatened to kill the intruders.
  • Yue Wen used the Demon-Detecting Mirror to assess the demons and told Zhao Xing'er to call the Supernatural Affairs Bureau when a chance arose.
  • Boss Tiger woke and asked the suited tiger to kill Yue Wen but spare Zhao Xing'er; the suited tiger struck him away with its tail.
  • The Tiger Demons roared and charged, but Zhao Xing'er raised a Three-Pointed, Double-Edged Blade and rushed to fight.

Ch. 20Watch My Sword!

Yue Wen and Zhao Xing'er fought five tiger demons in their basement hideout, and Yue Wen used a Flash Technique to kill two of them. The remaining demons faced an enraged Zhao Xing'er, whom Yue Wen blamed them for blinding.

  • Zhao Xing'er held off Vest Tiger and Gold Chain Tiger while Yue Wen used his Flying Sword against Headphone Tiger and called the Supernatural Affairs Bureau.
  • Suit Tiger roared, shaking the building and disrupting Yue Wen's call, while Black Tiger attacked him.
  • Suit Tiger struck Zhao Xing'er into a wall with Thunder Tiger Shakes the Heavens Fist and ordered the demons to kill the intruders.
  • Yue Wen blinded the five tiger demons with a Flash Technique and killed Vest Tiger and Gold Chain Tiger with his sword.
  • Zhao Xing'er rose in red radiance, furious that she had been blinded, and Yue Wen pointed at the three surviving tiger demons and blamed them.

Ch. 21Weapon Master

Zhao Xing'er and Yue Wen fought the three tiger demons in the basement, killing two and driving the survivors into an escape passage. Zhao Xing'er fired an RPG at them, collapsing the passage and leaving their fate unknown.

  • Zhao Xing'er wielded the Green Dragon Crescent Blade and Dragon Gallbladder Silver Spear, overpowering the suited tiger and cutting off most of its tail.
  • Yue Wen used his flying sword to kill the headphone-wearing tiger after it caught the blade between its paws.
  • The suited tiger seized the black tiger and tried to flee, but Zhao Xing'er pursued them with her spear.
  • The black tiger smashed through a basement wall, revealing an escape passage, and the suited tiger blocked Yue Wen's attempt to strike again.
  • Zhao Xing'er pulled out an RPG-107 and fired into the passage, causing an explosion that buried its entrance.

Ch. 22Wang Shoucai

Yue Wen and Zhao Xing'er defeated the Tiger Head Gang, then learned they had misunderstood the gang’s role in Guo Yang’s missing-son case. They found Guo Yang’s son safe at home, while Yue Wen gained a reward and a warning about new enemies.

  • Yue Wen and Zhao Xing'er questioned Brother Tiger and discovered Chen Dafa had asked the gang for backup, not to kidnap Guo Yang’s son.
  • Wang Shoucai arrived, confirmed the Tiger Head Gang’s destruction was a major contribution, and warned Yue Wen not to disrupt public order.
  • Wang Shoucai told Yue Wen that the evil cultivator he had killed belonged to Flame Ghost Hall and warned that Ahei Yan might seek revenge.
  • Yue Wen and Zhao Xing'er visited Guo Yang and learned his son had returned after sneaking off to play games with friends.
  • The boy thanked Yue Wen and Zhao Xing'er by giving each an arcade token, and Yue Wen accepted his token with a smile.

Ch. 23Three ground rules

Yue Wen treated Zhao Xing'er’s injuries and let her keep her job after she promised to follow three rules. He then pursued a local source of Blazing Flame Powder, and the seller invited him to inspect it at a private address.

  • Zhao Xing'er applied ointment to Yue Wen’s wounds, including a blade injury she had accidentally caused during the fight.
  • Yue Wen tried to dismiss Zhao Xing'er, but she pleaded to stay, so he agreed on the conditions that she not hit him or customers and use no weapons if she had to hit someone.
  • After the two stayed up until dawn, Yue Wen checked replies to his Cultivation Chat post seeking Blazing Flame Powder.
  • Yue Wen contacted Old Bai, who offered three taels for five hundred thousand and invited him to inspect the powder at an address in Half-Mountain District, City Six.
  • Yue Wen grew suspicious when Old Bai suggested that they meet at his home.

Ch. 24Old Bai

Yue Wen traveled to City Six to inspect Old Bai’s Blazing Flame Powder, only to find the eccentric alchemist working in a psychiatric hospital. Old Bai’s powder produced a dangerously powerful fire dragon, and he tried to persuade Yue Wen to use it despite admitting it could not be swallowed safely; the story left Yue Wen facing a potentially lethal deal.

  • Yue Wen arrived at Jiangcheng City Psychiatric Hospital, City Six Branch, and followed the guard’s directions to Old Bai’s ward.
  • Yue Wen found Old Bai brewing an elixir in a room filled with corrosive green mist, and watched him shoot a humanoid blob of liquid before bottling the potion.
  • Old Bai cleared the mist and gave Yue Wen a sample of his Blazing Flame Powder to test.
  • Yue Wen ignited the powder, which erupted into a fire dragon several dozen feet long, and realized the formula was far too explosive to consume safely.
  • Old Bai refused to make a milder version and promoted the powder as a breakthrough aid, while admitting that he lived at the hospital partly because killing people was not a crime for him.

Ch. 25Old Fan

Yue Wen visited Old Bai to inspect his Blazing Flame Powder, but found the apothecary eccentric and his medicine suspiciously potent. He left with free cookie-like pills, then learned through Cultivation Chat that Old Bai’s invisible roommate called himself Old Fan.

  • Yue Wen tried to leave the psychiatric hospital, but Old Bai stopped him and claimed he had been a brilliant disciple of the Medicine King Institute.
  • Old Bai described how his master Li Danyang rejected his medicines and claimed the institute had him committed out of jealousy, while Yue Wen saw no evidence of the roommate Old Bai addressed.
  • Old Bai offered Yue Wen Blazing Flame Powder for a higher price than before and gave him a box of Qi-Blood Unity Pills that looked like sandwich cookies.
  • Yue Wen left with the pills and decided to inspect them before considering Old Bai’s powder.
  • Old Bai messaged Yue Wen with instructions to eat the pills with milk, then said he was Old Bai’s roommate and could be called Old Fan.
